Somewhere in south-central England.

In the paper today it said that the rather dodgy restaurant Bob Bob Ricard in Soho will be serving Chateau Yquem dessert wine for £29 per 100ml glass.

Bob Bob Ricard is the kind of place a Russian Mafia boss would set up as a high concept restaurant but he doesn't know what the concept is.

http://www.bobbobricard.com/index.html

Anyway, the point is that the £29 a glass set me wondering what is the most expensive drink any Dakkanaut has ever had.

I can stake a claim with a glass of brandy I had at The Compleat Angler hotel in Marlow, Buckinghamshire, a few years ago. It cost me £75 and came with a free extra glass of brandy which would have cost £12.50 if I had had to pay for it.

It is the most delicious brandy I have ever tasted. That said, I would never had sprung for it if I had not been already very well refreshed so perhaps it should not count. I was even better refreshed after drinking the two glasses.

What is your most expensive tipple?

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...

I think that was expensive drink!

I'm not that daft. Went to a gig up 'That London' once, ordered a pint, was told 'that'll be £5.50' to which a quick 'get fethed!' was my only response, before walking sans drink.

Worst thing was, said band was bollocks.

Well I have a bottle of Crown Royal Reserve. If I opened it, it would probably be my most expensive drink. $189.00 a bottle if I remember correctly.

Thing is, in Australia that'd be $11, which is about the average price for a pint... Seriously, drinks here are stupidly expensive.

“We may observe that the government in a civilized country is much more expensive than in a barbarous one; and when we say that one government is more expensive than another, it is the same as if we said that that one country is farther advanced in improvement than another. To say that the government is expensive and the people not oppressed is to say that the people are rich.”

Everywhere I'm not supposed to be.

A $15 whiskey neat. "Three fingers, three cubes," I say. A splash and three fingers of water followed by five cubes is what I got.

This is why I don't go out to drink.

If you need me, I'll be busy wiping the layers of dust off my dice.

A hot chocolate somewhere that cost in the region of £3. If it wasn't due to the fact that I was so damned thristy, wanted a hot drink and had lots more stuff to do, i'd have gone next door to the Co-Op, bought a small pint of milk and a small tub of drinking chocolate, gone home and made myself one for that price, and still have enough left for a few more.

Mandorallen turned back toward the insolently sneering baron. 'My Lord,' The great knight said distantly, 'I find thy face apelike and thy form misshapen. Thy beard, moreover, is an offence against decency, resembling more closely the scabrous fur which doth decorate the hinder portion of a mongrel dog than a proper adornment for a human face. Is it possibly that thy mother, seized by some wild lechery, did dally at some time past with a randy goat?' - Mimbrate Knight Protector Mandorallen.

Based on the OP I don't think we can count bottles bought for home consumption. Should just be individual drinks bought out, although I suppose if you bought a really expensive bottle of wine at a restaurant or something, you could divide the price by 4 to get the per-glass price.

Most I think I've spent on an individual drink is probably in the $30-$40 range for a scotch, so nowhere near Kilkrazy's mark. I might be able to contest with him on a per-evening alcohol expenditure mark, but those years are a ways behind me, and I'd have to guess at the highest figure, anyway.

Adrift within the vortex of my imagination.

'Most expensive' is always a completely arbitrary value, one can set a high price on a botle of budget lemonade and even get someone to 'pay' for it if it suits your marketing strategy.

Drunk beyond all comprehension, at this posh place, ordered a bottle of Cristal at the bar. Drank one glass of it and promptly forgot about the bottle and left the bar.

That was about 4000SEK // $600 // €450 down the drain... completely worthless.

There is something really awesome about that, you sound like a bit of a legend killkrazy. I would say a rum and coke i bought while down the horse races for a day out, was about 6 squids. Not super expensive but enough to say 'sorry?!' quite loudly to the bartender.

Darn expensive smoothie if you ask me...

But the question is what is the most a Dakka member has spent on an alcoholic beverage consumed out of the home. It isn't about marketing, it's about our own profligacy and debauchedness.

This would seem to take the lead. For the sake of being sporting, we'll follow the guideline set earlier in the thread, dividing the price of a bottle of wine by four to represent the per-drink price.

So Pixelpusher now holds the lead at $150 USD / € 112.50 Euro.

Same sense of being sporting! If we allow Elmodiddly's tale of woe, the thread has come to an end.

Either that, or we get competing tales of woe which each started off with someone's single drink, and I don't think it's fun reading about DUIs.
