Hey there everyone! I'm brand new to Dakka Dakka but I feel like you guys have a much better appreciation as a whole of modeling work and skill compared to most other forums, so I figured I'd share my work with you guys for some C&C, recommendations, and your viewing pleasure!

Let me know what you think and if you have any suggestions/criticism please! In the meantime I'll try to update the thread as I complete more models, but you can always feel free to check out my work and Battle Reports at http://ahrimaneus.blogspot.com/

I'm really impressed with the wych helm. Nice scheme.

Also, the tiny conversions on the Warrior helmets are nice.

I love the multi-colored edging around the armored panels. Good stuff.

This sure looks good - I like the light effects.
The scheme feels quite similar to the Obsidian Rose Kabal - is there a connection?
Also, if you speaks for obsidian skies, then I can consider them as a nemesis to my Eldar Craftworld - which names means Blue Heavens.

I think your blending and technique are awesome! My only misgiving is about the colour choice. I think, and it's obviously personal, is that you have one too many spot colours to contrast the darker armour. Using blue purple AND green is a step too far for me. Those models where its just one or two have a much stronger feel IMO. It's pretty minor compared to how well you've painted them otherwise so I hope you don't think I'm being too negative about some great models.

Thanks everyone! And thanks for the welcome!

Since it seems to be the popular question: the Hekatrix helm was done originally with a basecoat of Mechrite red, then painted over with Golden Yellow, leaving a little bit of the mechrite in the recesses. Then it was just some careful layering with some watered down Baal Red wash, touched up and re-layered with a little more Golden Yellow at the most reflected center part of the helmet.

The Trueborn with cape does seem a bit busy at first glance. I originally wasn't sure about the blue hair, but I really wanted these guys to stand out compared to the normal warriors. The bit of purple is just a consistent theme I have across the army with all Darklight weaponry. When you hold it in your hand, the cape I think really helps to tone down the bright different accent colors as it's basically flesh-colored but tinted red to complement the armor scheme.

I've got a couple of cool ideas for the eventual Archon conversion I'm going to make using various parts but based around a more dynamic pose than the GW model (although I plan to paint this one as well, it's pretty awesome). He'll be toting the Sorcerer's cloak from Island of Blood kit.

Of course, before all of this I still have 2 more Venoms to convert, 4 Incubi to paint, and 5 more Wyches to finish for March 12th! Ah!

Thanks guys! I figured I'd finish off the rest of the Wyches before I went and did the basing. Picked up a few extras to add more detail to the bases as well.

And yes, I did use Green Stuff for the neck of the Wych with the Corsair head, as well as to properly attach the arms to the Trueborn body (the widths of the two different body sections were slightly different, so the arms wouldn't glue on properly otherwise)

Hey everybody, sorry it's been so long since my last post, but school and life have gotten in the way of my gaming/painting time. So without further ado, the first Wych squad is complete! Well, except for basing, but I can't look at them anymore at the moment. Need to take a break on some Incubi.

Enjoy!
