So I was just painting some battle damage on a rhino and got my codex out to see how Eavy Metal did it> I went to grab something and knocked a pottle of chaos black all over my codex. Fail. Tell me yours.

First mini I ever painted. I would have been about 9 or 10, was putting some gold on him and dumped the pot all over my black jeans. no metallic never really comes out

Going to the local GW buying some paint to finish my basilisk and when I start painting I knock the hole thing onto the carpet without noticing... It was was gone and my mum nearly killed me

While mine wasn't paint, it was glue, it still almost had me beheaded by the head of the house.

NEVER SPILL SUPER GLUE ONTO AN EXPENSIVE AS HELL BENCH TOP.

Mine was from my 4 year old boy. Almost had my entire army done for a Tourny. Just some minor detail work here and there.
Went to work one day and left the bedroom door unlocked.
Came home and my boy shows me this little cardboard box he had slapped some royal blue paint on. Very nice and cute...never thinking "where did he get the paint from?"
Opened the bedroom door to find blue paint spilled all over the desk and splattered all over my freshly painted army.
So, 4 days before the Tourny I spent 8 hours a day at work, 6-8 hours at night cleaning and repainting, and a few hours of sleep.
Needless to say my play suffered from lack of sleep...going 1-4. Fortunately my painting score brought me up to the middle of the pack overall.
Never left the door unlocked again.

knocked Chaos black over once when painting, didnt ruin the model or carpet, but did kill a shirt and pair of shorts.

brought some orks with me to Pebble beach to paint (expensive as heck place!) and what is one of my regular colors? BROWN INK... ya... so, i was havin a hard time opening it, and so i was pullng and pulling, finally it opend, and brown ink flew everywhere, including onto the carpet of the very expensive hotel room floor....

I moved the couch a little bit forward then....

Black Reaper Ink... spilled it.. fail.. it had a stirry bead but wasn't a sturdy pot... still managed to isolate and contain the spill and clean the carpet... I got my deposit back from my landlord at any rate!

I was just finishing putting some red highlights onto my Cauldron Of Blood when I knocked the red bottle of paint(which I had forgotten to put the cap back on). It of course spit globs of red paint onto 2 of my finished Mordheim Witchhunters, which had been left out to take pictures of. At least they were Flagellents so it kind of fit (at least that is what I tell myself).

Spilling my water pot all over my models, opened paints, and white dwarfs. To add to that, it went behind the table and all over the TV chords... Probably the worst mistake I've ever made while painting.
The moral of the story; Mount your pot to the desk!!

well i spilled half a pot of ultramarine blue right onto my shirt and it never came out...i loved that shirt too. I also have a curse with washes, i haven't damaged anything....yet, but i have yet to buy a wash pot without spilling it

I was getting out my Army Painter blue to paint my Deff Dread, apparently forgot to cap it all the way the night before. squeezed to hard and the pop topped off, getting blue all over my squad of Nobs. I call it war paint now.....

I was painting my land raider green and my grandmothers dog comes running down the stairs. She licks the wet paint then proceeds to rub her toung across the floor smeering the green paint on the carpet. The dog was alright, the carpet not so much.
I finished building and painting my winged hive tyrant back when i first started playing, 2008 i think. Needless to say I droped him and his wings'gun got ripped off and the paint was chipped all the hell. It was a very sad day in my house.

Last weekend I was painting the kitchen with the wife. Knocked over the paint can full of "Indian Red" on a brown carpet. Panic ensued---while I created a cloud of obscenities. Yep, it all came out----after frantic Googling and lots of elbow grease.....

Many moons ago, while putting the finishing touches on the Malus Darkblade on foot model, I managed to drop the miniature head first into an open jar of Chaos Black. If that wasn't bad enough, the jar fell over and gave the Darkblade miniature a surprisingly even coating. I wanted to be mad at myself, but all I could think of was that old Jack Handy quote: “If you ever drop your keys into a river of molten lava, let 'em go, because man, they're gone.”

I had my minis at some mates home where I was living for ~3month. I wasnt at home most of the time and when I came back to move place I realized nearly every mini I have was "smoked" and had a nicotine film on them - needless to say I raged pretty hard. But in the end it was my fault so I raged more about beeing dumb as gak in that case than at my mates never openend a damn window. Now I never ever will let my minis stay at a smokey place!
Still stripping everything - nearly 15k € minis worth from GW over Rackham to PP. It´s damn mess but well repainting isnt the worse thing on earth just to repaint every damn miniature I have is not so funny.

I've had several, one of which was the most epic fail ever with paint.
I thought I had lost my paint, because me and my bro couldn't find it for days on end. One day I'm cleaning out my room, I empty my trash can, and out comes all our paint, somehow it had all gotten knocked into my trash can off one of my desks.
The other one, was painting some red gore onto an axe of an orc, spilled the whole thing down my legs, and onto this chair I loved, the chair then proceeded to break.

Had one of those lap-desk things, painting models on that.

My wife doesn't care if I spill paint on this carpet - she hates the carpet anyway. New carpet will be a completely different story.

Worst paint related issue I've had was "varnishing" a model with black primer.

Not acrylic spray paint. Serious primer that needs a dedicated paint stripper to remove it, The model went into brake fluid and was restarted from scratch.

I should have added this before but, I was finishing an Ork for my bro just before school (he sucks and he wanted a decent painted warboss) and hes getting bored so he picks up my high bouncy (a lite blue) and throws at the water pot (2 weeks old and very thick , red)... It covers the wall and changes the colour of my ball. My mum was not impressed and it was just after my dad painted the house. It was hard to concentrate at school that day.

Chaos Black, white keyboard. Never again. Now, I have a laptop, so it would be even more of a disaster. That's why I model with my lid closed, mostly.

Ultramarine Blue all down the front of my khaki scout uniform just before flags. My ONLY uniform and I was a staff member so had to set "the example." I left coat on the whole time...

Finished Malus Darkblade on cold one .. my best model I had ever painted. Looked bloody brilliant. I went to spray it with some matte finish to seal it ..... didn't realise I'd picked up my skull white undercoat until it was too late.

Never could match up the colours perfectly again and so to this day my Malus Darkblade is slightly lighter on one side.

Another glue spiller here. I was superglueing something out of a GW glue put, went to pull out the brush, but instead I launched the bottle. This was like 1 month after starting the hobby and a brand new pot, I'd reckon about half of the glue came out. Atleast the carpet I spilled it on is 20 years old, but now it has a nice decorative swirl on it :

terrible for spilling washes and inks, but the worst spill was back when my (now) wife and i were living in sin in a nice suite in this old lady's place.

I have this thing about coffee mugs. I like coffee, and I like big, big coffee mugs to drink out of. At the time, I had a big ceramic mug that held almost a full pot of coffee. I put it on the dresser. We were in the process of moving out. The mug was full, and the carpet was an eggshell white.

Ten minutes later, I was at the store renting a steam vacuum.

When I was 14 I knocked a black ink container over and didn't notice it. Dried into a puddle in the middle of a 100+yr old desk.

Now I use 1/4 inch backer board on all my work surfaces.

When I was in the Army my roommate had an airsoft gun from Korea with the spring expanded so it would fire a pellet 3X as fast. Well, I had a full tac squad of marines and Rhino I had just finished sitting in the laptop desk to keep them from getting knocked over when they dried. I had a blood red paint pot in the middle of them and my roomate just coming back from SRT school thought he would do some target pratice.

He thought that he would just knock over the paint pot but it exploded sending paint and plastic shards all over the marines, rhino and desk interior. Lest say that my desk remained closed from then on.

Got my revenge though later on. He like to have sex in the room even when I was there. We had the room seperated after that. So I bought a airsoft gun myself and would bank the pellets off a metal plate on the ceiling and hit her on the butt in the middle of them going at it. Classic, just classic.
