Subject: New fan-made CGI short animation: "Lord Inquisitor"
It is my pleasure to inform all of you that a full CGI short-animation intitled "The Lord Inquisitor" is currently being made! http://www.thelordinquisitor.com
It is a project from the fans for the fans and not a single penny will be made through the animation. The philosophy behind this project is to make a short visual tribute to the world of Warhammer 40.000 created by Games Workshop®.
You should all know that this is an interactive project, meaning that the fans are regularly informed about the progress and they thus have the possibility to contribute by commenting and criticising.
Obviously this project might be met with scepticism because previous projects of this sort have been put to an end. I would like to direct your attention to the fact that GW does not treat movies as it treats animations, see here:
http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/content/article.jsp?catId=&categoryId=§ion=&pIndex=3&aId=3900002&start=4&multiPageMode=true Hence, the question is if The Lord Inquisitor falls into the category "movie" or "animation". According to the definitions you can find on the web, CGI animation is by definition animation. Nevertheless, GW has been contacted in order for them to be aware of this project and in order to find out if they tolerate it or not - no answer up to date has been received.
Anyway, just to let you guys know =)
Thanks!
I wish them more luck than the Damnatus team had.

Alright alright, I know that is flamey, but I think this certainly demonstrates the quality of 'Ultramarines' when contrasted with a DIY job that looks at the very least as good, and IMO, significantly better. Not looking to argue with those that would disagree, nor begrudge their right to feel differently, it's just my opinion!

Is it me or is the web site having issues?
I was able to see some short scenes but the “eye candy” wouldn’t open and I got error messages that the web site wasn’t responding….

I bet gw will restrict this up the backside before they allow it to air. however they might just buy it and continue the production, which is the option im hoping for.

Sadly my money is on them saying no, they will realize this will compete with the disappointing "space Marine" not to mention blow it out of the water quality wise.

Space Marine was wildly horrible when it came to the animation, so now I reserve judgement on this. Sure it looks good, but until I can see some walking animation, then it's not enough.

No doubt some fantastic artwork there. I'll be curious to see how the actual production of the animation is handled though. Stills are one thing, but full animation + sound, etc. is something else. A great start though to be sure.
100% rooting for these guys. If there's some sort of injunction, I hope they keep working anyways.
Really, really lovely work so far.

We have spectacular renders of our favorite universe to look at here people, and promising motion video. The artists have even taken time to adapt the armor to be more intricate and detailed yet still true to the spirit of the source material. I really think there is enough to actually talk about the subject here, no?

The screenshot looks great. If GW has a problem with it - oh well. It would be cool, but I'm also not gonna lose sleep over fan films getting shut down.

You can never beat your first time. The second generation is shinier, stronger, faster and superior in every regard save one, and it's an unfair criticism to level, but it simply can't be as original. - Andy Chambers, on the evolution of Games Workshop games

Wow.
First:I do not think this (thread or movie project) is going to end well.
That said, however, the work these guys are doing is phenomenal. I'm extremely impressed.

By remarkable coincidence, the acolyte-type with the mask and bolt pistol looks astonishingly like a costume I'm tentatively working on for Games Day UK 2011. I think I'll have to use this as reference to develop the costume further.
Oh my golly gosh (for lack of any other words).... That should be made into a major motion picture! Just wow, whoever did that "movie poster" and the pictures in the gallery, that is probably one of the best CGI animations I have ever seen! GW better allow this to happen...because if it doesn't.....it would mean WAR

Film looks good! I can't control what GW does or doesn't do (so why worry about it?!) Instead, I wish the makers the best of luck in getting it approved and released!

My only (slight) complaint is the picture ablove looks too much like the Codex EoT cover. These guys appear to be rathe talented, so why not come up with something different? Other than that, looks good! Looking forward to this coming out!!!
