Was mentioned in the "Southern hemisphere" thread first (thanks Loki for finding it first) but deserves its own thread:
If you missed TURN 8 last night ( http://www.beastsofwar.com/turn-8/turn-8-19-may-2011/ ), then you may not have heard about the leaked pictures we have uncovered, that seemed to originate from Mantic Games.

Here they are, now in glorious Hi-Resolution, after Lloyd has worked his digital magic on them.

As you can see there are a number of vehicles including one that was obviously designed by a fan of the Thundercats!

This is exciting stuff, the potential for a sci-fi game on the scale of Kings of War is a mouthwatering prospect… perhaps that might help to soften the blow of the latest GW price announcements.

Shortly after posting the video on youtube, BoW's account was closed and BoW's website was shortly unavailable, but it included comment's on GW's recent decisions as well.

Interesting stuff. Looks like Mantic has plans on reviving the Squat, following on from their championing of the Chaos Dwarf...

Really not really feeling the concept art at all. Would have to see the final product.

These look like early concept art at best, playing with elements of the Humvee, Thundercats and Squats.
The Dwarf is clearly Mantic Fantasy. Still a long way to go I guess.

And yeah, took me a minute to get all links up, also to save them in case the original links go dead.

Can't wait to see more. If these are the quality of and priced anything like the Mantic fantasy range, I will be getting at least one army.

Is it the case that they "seem to originate from Mantic games" just because the Dwarves look like Mantic Dwarves?

I'd like to see Scibor get more heavily into SciFi.

Squats and those dog soldiers from 40K by the look of the pictures.

This is GREAT!!! Mantic make great models (some Elves excluded) and with a range of comparitively cheap Sci-Fi models with a good ruleset could give 40K the rival it's been lacking for years

If Mantic do make these I'm building a Squat army

Are you asking about the providence of the images? They go into it in much more detail in the video (which is well worth watching), but these images (as I understand it) were placed by Mantic in the digital "drop box" that BoW maintains for the companies that work with them on their releases.

looks...interesting but I hope they dont use their fantasy range with some metal bitz attached. Their abyssal dwarves are quite pricey and I'd like to see some original designs

I dont like the Hummer at all...its just a hummer with tracks and such slapped on it, virtually no integration. Looks like something some hillbilly would make in his yard.

Do not like that cat/half-track thing either.

Those walkers look kinda interesting and the dwarf stuff looks good.

However, lets be honest here, we all want to see infantry, double so for power armored infantry.

Although then this is where people get feisty! I remember when I was an ignorant, naive fool and regularly went to the wargames factory forums, there were pages of debate whether "Space Knight", "Haloesque", or "Starship Gorilla" type power armor would be proper power armor

Beasts of war youtube account was nuked 18-24 hours (maybe earlier) before Turn 8 was broadcast. It wasn't related to the Mantic leak.

And GW the competition they obviously desperately need to make them stop their shenanigans!

Does anyone know how well Mantic is faring, sales-wise, in the Fantasy stakes?

To me, it seems like they are playing more with the idea of interchangeable model systems rather than making straight silliness. Take a look, there is a 'Head' and 'Tail' to the cat, it looks like it might come as one model but be able to integrate with other tanks and walkers. I wish that GW had done something like this with Orks

"Orkses never lost a battle. If we win we win, if we die we die fighting so it don't count. If we runs for it we don't die neither, cos we can come back for annuver go, see!"

I dig how in a setting where giant, muscled fungus men ride Mad Max cars and use their own teeth as currency, the concept of little engineering dudes with beards was considered a step too far down the aisle of silliness.

Waa... so over the top.

Some of these concepts look really silly to me, but I like them anyway! Of course they're just concept work and probably look nothing close to the final designs (if and when actual models get made) but it's nice to know they're going sci-fi in some capacity. I'm definitely down for cheap sci-fi plastics.

Interesting, I would like to add a bit of further supposition if I may:

Mantic released their 'Abyssal Dwarves' range a couple of months before FW released their own (along with new rules for CD in WFB).

Now there are concept drawings for 'Dwarves in Space'. Remember Alessio Calvatore's position within GW. It is quite possible he still has contact with people within the GW design team (you don't work for years somewhere in that kind of environment without making firm friendships). Is it possible that Mantic have got wind of the GW Demiurg coming 6-12 months down the line, and are seeking to make a (vastly cheaper) release of their own alongside GW's official release?

Complete supposition on my part, but just a thought!

I personally am a fan of these products, as they stand now. The humvee looks like a solid, generic sci fi humvee, and I think the walker designs are inspired. No one else is making anything remotely similar right now. Of course, the halftrack cat is ridiculous, but that's what concept art is for, concepts. Very interested in how these shape up, especially if the price is good.

Not just a "generic scifi humvee".

They've also got a half-track that looks to be a weapons platform(the top two on that second piece of paper).

Gotta wonder how the human faction is going to look.
