Well I kind of moved near Toronto, actually.

If you check your Codex you will see it is actually the Sergeant who gives them that ability.

So, no.

As an extra sidenote, Space Wolves do not have the Combat Squad rule, and as such you will not be able to combat squad your long fangs in the first place

115 for like 6 guys with 5 MLaunchers is cheap as that dirty corner hooker with the missing tooth that nobody likes.

Take 3 squads of them or some lascannons some missile launchers and you'll be fine.

What I meant was
a)I thought they could go in squads of 10
b)They had combat squads
c)They could combat squad, with 2/3 heavy weapons for anti-tank in one,2/3 anti-infantry in the other, and both fire on two targets.
This is better than the truth though thery are very good for devs,SW equivilents.

They are better than a devastator squad. You can get 5 heavy weapons and the sergeant lets you shoot at 2 different targets already

You can already shoot at two units, without the unfortunate Kill Point concerns.

It's actually 140pts for a squad of 6 with missile launchers. Still pretty cheap though.

And split fire is a handy ability, but it doesn't get used all that much. Long Fangs are a high-priority target, and the first casualty they suffer should always be the Squad Leader.

I really appriciate the advice, but the way I use a unit is in the knowledge that there is iother guys around to take out tanks and MCs.

Well, threads are often useful to other people than the one person who originally posted; that's part of the purpose of a forum. So other people can read and learn too.

In practice, Long Fangs are the usual primary antitank and anti-MC tool for Space Wolves, and missile launchers give them an excellent and inexpensive way to kill those targets. they also give the option to Frag the crud out of bunched-up infantry units, such as ones in the crater of an Exploded transport.

Ok fair point.

And that's if there is a crater and they all fit.Missile launchers are what's known as a jack of all trades but master of none. There are more powerful AT weapons, and better anti-infantry.But they are cheap and reliable. When I can't pick a weapon,it's the ML that has my back.

Is the OP trolling?

10 man dev squad with 4 Heavy Weapons split into two combat squads is better than 6 Long fangs with 5 heavy weapons and a squad leader?

The only advantage the devs have is having more bodies (but at a price!)

In terms of tactical advantage yes.

Split a ten man unit into combat squads,2 AT weapons in 1,2 anti-infantry in the other. The can split fire like LF,but the differences are
1)In order to get a kill point, your opponent must kill all 10,make both squads fall back and end the game or make them end off board.
)They can be deployed in 2 different positions with diiferent fields of vision
3)The sergeant can make 1 guy +1BS instead of shooting.Give him a bolt pistol and PW and he can be a back-up close combat item for facing outflankers and deepstrikers.

The LF are superior in terms of points and can take an extra heavy weapon.

While all of these things do improve the relative strength of the 10 man Dev squad as compared to Long Fangs, the critical difference is that 6 Long Fangs with 5 Missile Launchers costs 140, while 10 (Vanilla) Devs with 4 weapons cost at least 220, and has one less heavy weapon. Unless points are truely not scare relative to FOC slots, the Long Fangs are a far superior unit. The tactical advantages enjoyed by the Dev squad cannot possibly be worth 80 points against all-comers.

Each combat squad is worth a kill point.

Also, as someone else pointed out, you could almost get two squads of long fangs with 5 missile launchers for the price of one 10 man squad of devastators. Heck, if you made the squads identical, IE, 5 long fangs with 2 missiles and 5 more long fangs with two missiles, you could have the exact same thing as the devastators, and be able to fire at 4 targets vs 2.

Seriously, you are trolling.
