Simply a blog containing all things Warriors of Chaos!
Now for all projects I work on! Since I apparently cant stick to any one thing, nor finish any one thing for that matter!

-Primary armies for this blog-
Warriors of Chaos: Slaanesh, Nurgle, Khorne, Tzeentch, Trolls, Undivided... All of which are separate armies!
Orcs and Goblins
Legion of Everblight
And possibly even Orks, although I'm looking to sell the army since I ended up lacking interest in it.

Well since I have not appeased the people yet it seems, here are some more pictures and a bit more of an idea of what I'm using for "counts as" models.

First up is what I will be using as "Vashnir, The Wayward Son", my Slaanesh Chaos Lord. Tis the Wood Elf Lord w/ great weapon. I felt like this guy had the leen armoured Sigvald look, and he has always been one of my favorite models. No weapon in the pic, but you can see I shaved off the vines from the cloak.

Next is my BSB. As I said, I'm using alot of Dark Eldar stuff because its just so cool, so for my BSB I'm using the Succubus. The picture is a bit wierd since I was holding its (because the banner isn't glued yet. But you get the idea.

My Chosen unit standard. My entire unit of chosen (numbering 27) is going to be made up of Dark Eldar Incubi, so it only seemed proper that I use an Archon. He was going to be my BSB, but he fits into the unit too well!

Now the Marauders. I've always loved the thought of devote followers of Slaanesh, people mutilating themselves but also being acolyte-ish. Orginally these were Tzeentch acolytes on a terrain piece I made but I think they work well for this. Flagellants with Wood Elf heads. So simple, yet so effective. *Keep in mind they aren't finished yet!

So whats everyone think? I have a few more tricks and ideas up my sleeve, but lets not give it all away at once.

edit: I'd also like to point out that the idea for the basing on this army is a palace floor. So I was tryng to go for a marble look. It seems a bit strange on them at the moment, but I think after I paint the base rims and throw in a marble statue or two, it should make a bit more sense. Especially after I make the display board!

Okay, I just LOVE that first model. Seriously. None of this bright pink stuff... a deep purple with some pinkish accents? Much, much better, imo

Looking forward to seeing more!

Thanks Between Games Workshop's spelling, Privateer Press' spelling, and other various sources, I get confused with the name.

Well, I'll be using her as my Sorcerer which was Aesthera in the background story.

I've actually gone about naming all my units as well and because I love to be extreme when making my own themed army... I'm creating an "Army book page" for all of the characters and units, each with individual stories. And I might or might not have renamed all of the items to fit the characters.

I tend to do this quite a bit when I want something to look realistic and unique.

Heres a few examples, one is what I'm working on for Vashnir, the other I made for the FW Mammoth before Storm of Magic came out...

Edit: They look a bit wierd since all I did was take a screen shot and and upload them, but maybe after they are finished I'll upload the files if someone wants me to.
Edit 2: I took pictures of Lelith, but due to terrible lighting the pictures came out rather terrible. So I will make sure to post pictures tomorrow when in better lighting.

Great looking models, Buttlerthepug. As a fellow Slaaneshi devotee, I'm very impressed with the simple painting and conversions. Also, as others have said, your purples are fantastic. The first Warrior looks particularly terrifying, and I can't to see some paint on Vashnir and the Standard Bearers. But honestly, the models that stand out to me the most are the Marauders. Such a simple conversion, but they all look absolutely perfect. I may have to try that out myself. Can't wait to see more!

Thanks Sin, and because I finally took pictures with decent lighting, I have a few pictures of Aesthera (Lelith). Keep in mind she is very much a WIP.

And in other news, my second order of halberds came in so I can hopefully pick those up on Saturday and keep working on the Warriors. I have most of the Warriors' shields done as is, but I'm thinking I might repaint them. The purple on them didn't come out as much (I did a few coats on that test model, but I painted the rest for an Iron painter, so it was rushed) . Not to mention I'm not extremely happy with how the NMM came out on them so it seems likely that they will start to be redone.

At any rate, here are some WIP pictures of Aesthera.

this is a verry nice thread I am a great slaanesh follower out of all the gods of chaos it was my fave from the start
you represent them very well btw but one thing perturbes me...
your "codex" pages are very well done so much that I must ask you for a tutorial/method to replicate this BUT your character is beyond overkill his story and equipment are well made and balanced but the stats could kill a god XP I do hope the point cost is appropriate.

He is just a Chaos Lord with the equipment listed. All I did was rename the items and add a little fluff to em so they fit.

He's not a new special character or anything... heres a link to the army list I'm currently planning infact.

Aesthera looks great so far. Lelith has such a great model, and I'm sure you'll do her some justice by the time you're done. Keep us posted.

Thanks again Sin, I'm hoping to get her done by the end of next week. The plan was to finish her this week but I've geen working on some other stuff for a tournament this Saturday.

I'll see if I can get some pictures up of the Archon in the unit of Incubi though!

Very nice paint job i really like the models you used.

Also those marauders I couldnt really imagine them looking good with hoods and such but those look amazing.

The paint on the models looks great.

The thing that has me excited is the conversion for the shrine, seeing what you have done so far with conversions this will be pretty awesome no doubt.

Thanks cowpow. I have been thinking about making that my next purchase actually. I wanted to finish out some units first, but it doesn't really matter since I wont play the army until its completely done anyways. So I might as well switch it up a bit!

So here is the progress on the "Blades of Divinity" my Chosen uni, as well as some of their background fluff. I also am working on the BSB's banner.

The Blades of Divinity are amongst the most agile warriors in the world. Though they have existed since the beginning of Vashnir's reign, their numbers have only slowly grown throughout their treacherous years.

The first of the Blades hailed from Reikdorf. In the first of an endless series of battles against the Empire, the Symphony arose victorious and ecstasy filled within the army of Slaanesh. Yet amidst the torture, a lone Empire general succumbed to the unyielding pleasure. His skill flourished and his devotion to protecting Vashnir was unmatched. Thus came to be the first of the Blades.

From all across the world, Vashnir's grand armies seeks out ever more challenging enemies, and with each new foe comes a new Blade. Within every campaign is one person with such preemptive strength that when given to Slaanesh, his skills far exceed that of any mortal.

Since that first battle, Elven Lords and Bretonnian Knights have all fallen to the powers of the Dark Prince. There agility and precision so keen that even the most formidable of foes cannot withstand their grace.

The Blades of Divinity are each gifted with crystalline great swords, similarly crafted to that of Vashnir's own Blade of Dismission. Yet the Blades wield their weapons with such skill and strength that the swords hit as swift and powerful as halberds.

In every battle, the Wayward Son leads his retinue of Blades, seeking out the most worthy of his opponents as to test to true power of his converted generals. The images left behind by the body of heightened warriors are gruesome and serene. Victims left to shreds in their wake as opposing pawns are cleanly cut, transforming under the mystifying powers of Chaos.

*So the whole idea is that Vashnir forces opposing generals into submission (through any number of ways. It is Slaanesh after all) and they are so consumed by Slaanesh and Vashnir himself that they have become his personal retinue.

You really seem to like the DE models I can see why they are super awesome amazing slaanesh sex fiends

SO ya dig the fluff but the only downside to the gw guys is they are cool but why give warriors great weapons?

Those models are gorgeous tho and those swords amazing.

Haha wish they made cool marauder models :(

Still sick units I still cant get over how awesome those models look

The Chosen will be using Halberds which is why I pointed out in their fluff (as well as Vashnir's) that they are so skilled with their great swords, that they wield them as fast as halberds.

But since you wanted that Warshrine so bad, here is a WIP on that... just a little sneak peak.

Fret not though! Tomorrow I am buying the Chronos/Talos so I will have the shrine completed tomorrow and pictures uploaded (assuming everyone wants me to, which I would hope for!) either tomorrow or Sunday.

Well I picked up the Chronos today, as well as a box of Wracks (which will be used as both Marauder unit champs and the guys on my shrines) so aside from greenstuff work and a few more tricks, the first Warshrine, "The Flesh Render", is basically complete! Let me know what you think!

Just a question but are you going to add so
ething onto the platform? It looks a little empty and such maybe a tied up prisoner or some crazy slaaneshee thing.
Other than that sick idea lovin how you are using DE stuff keep up the good work.

It will have one of the Dark Eldar Wracks on there, I'm just waiting to paint em up before I put him on.

My only quibble is that the Dark Eldar really don't look fantasy enough. They look a little too techonologically advanced to be in a time where spears and arrows are the norm.

I had a multitude of people telling me that when I first proposed the idea, yet no one could ever come up with an example.

Is there any real difference between these two "types of guys"?

They both have layers of armour, extravagant weapons, and crazy helmets. The only real difference is the Incubi have sleek armour (which for the theme of my army, is exactly what I'm going for and thus why I used them). I've also left off the back things for the sake of them possibly being too 40k-ish so I can't see why they wouldn't work out. At this point the only thing I'm having problems with is the metal outlining on the tentacle monsters...tentacles!

Made in us
Charging Bull

Temple of Zakarum

With the metal that is on those tentacles, its no different than the iron kracken from the dread fleet set.

You could always justify that by saying that chaos dwarfs made that for the chaos lord.

It also looks a lot better with the modular tray on the shrine.

I think the only thing that bothers me is the base, maybe you could fill in the gaps with a little green stuff. Just enough to make the space between the tiles not so deep.

16,000 points daemons fantasy
6000 points lizardmen
3500 points ogre kingdoms
1500 points tau BFG

Made in us

Well the main reason I did that (aside from not having a chariot base, but shhh) was so it would match the units. Since all the units have that same tiled look, including the depth, I figured it would be better to make everything look the same.

And its already primed and midway through painting, so gap filling might be a bit tedious.

As for the tentacle metal, there are plenty of ways to justify it. Hell just reading the various fantasy novels (namely the Sigvald book) shows just how much "technology" is in the Fantasy world. Its obviously still fantasy, but when you got brass behemoths and metal ponies (dumb empire!), I hardly see the lining to be a problem. We shall see.
