I gave up watching them because most of what they offer seems like something you'd read in a tabloid, and the shows that have any kind of historic or scientific information spend half the time telling you what you just saw before the marathon commercial break.

I recall a history Professor referring to the History Channel as "The Hitler Channel" becuase practically everything was WWII, with a heavy emphasis on the European campaign. Of course nowadays this is the History Channel:

Amidst the mists and coldest frosts he thrusts his fists against the posts and still insists he sees the ghosts.

Ahtman, I've seen that guy as the guest expert on at least three history channel shows.
One was about aliens inpregnating female Grizzlies in a bid to take over the Northwest Territories with hybrid monstrosities.
The second was how the ghost of " Glub",an Atlantian prophet drowned in the sinking, was being channeled by Justin Bieber.
The third was a cooking show illustrating how dung could be prepared in a variety of ways to please even the most discernibg of pallates.

Really?? Are you serious? If you are then can you remember the names of said docos? If they include this guy then i must watch them. For the lulz.

Also if you are looking for high quality, informative docos about animials or the planet itsself look up anything that has Sir David Attenborough narrating. You cant go wrong with an Attenborough documentary. If the war docos and such are more your pace then I would sugget having a look at any number of BBC made Documentaries.

The Discovery channel has the Mythbusters, so the channel is amazing.

"The Imperium is nothing if not willing to go to any lengths necessary. So the Trekkies are zipping around at warp speed taking small chucks out of an nigh-on infinite amount of ships, with the Imperium being unable to strike back. feth it, says central command, and detonates every vortex warhead in the fleet, plunging the entire sector into the Warp. Enjoy tentacle-rape, Kirk, we know Sulu will." -Terminus

"This great fortress was a gift to the Blood Ravens from the legendary Imperial Fists. When asked about it Chapter Master Pugh was reported to say: "THEY TOOK WHAT!?""

Mythbusters would be far more watchable if they didn't fall into the whole discovery/history channel thing of taking several minutes after each commercial break to tell you what you have just seen.

That would be an awesome sideplot for Homestuck.

I'm not getting why Pawn Stars is on the History channel. And the Ancient Aliens, Da Vinci Code, and Nostradamus crap gets old.

I feel the same. History is nothing but pawn stars and spin offs now. The show was good but got diluted.
And the reality shows. God that Larry the cable guy show is so egocentric and every other line is how

Storage Wars isnt on History. I think thats A&E (dunno I just set the DVR and watch whenever) I think you mean American Pickers? While I like the shows mentioned usually (Mythbusters just cracks me up most times as does Ancient Aliens) I do miss the old History channel.....you know...the one that played mostly shows about history I think it sucks that for me to get that type of fix, Id have to purchase History2 and Military channel. Id like to, but the package those 2 are included in, costs WAY to much for me to deem ok to pay for. So sadly, I just get to deal with it.

I learned everything I know about anything from the Discovery and History channels. Made growing up so much better in every way.

There are some who walk until their legs fail them and they fall to the ground. I find that respectable.
Then there are those who drag themselves further. I find that admirable.

When Yesterday was called UK History it was a great channel. It's at least 50% rubbish now.

The last thing I wached on the History channel was 'The Science of Spiderman'!?!

Before digital cable it seemed like history channel was pretty solid there were some giant gak bombs in the middle of what was normally a well produced show every now and again. But now...useless. I immediately lose all respect for any college professor that shows a video from the History channel, even the good ones, mostly because it smacks of laziness as a scholar and teacher.

Somehow every channel eventually evolves into something totally not what their channel is named for.

MTV=no music
History Channel=no History
Hell, "A&E" stands for "Arts and Entertainment". Watching people fight over someone else's left behind junk in a locker is neither.

This is why I don't have cable.

TV in general sucks nowdays. Nature used to be my favorite show, now its kinda lame. It used to be "Lion stalks Antelope, Lion chases Antelope, Lion catches and eats Antelope, Lion takes care of baby Lions..."

Now its full of things like discussing what some reasercher thinks about the intellegence of ravens or some like that. Boooooring!!!

There are some good shows like The First 48, Mythbusters(which is best watched online so you can skip the commercials and recaps), Deadliest Warrior(entertaining, not all that accurate, but entertaining), River Monsters(Pure win),and most military channel programs.

I recently rewatched Lions and Hyenas: Eternal Enemies. I remember when it was one the first time, it still gives me goosebumps. great episode.

The thing that really gets me with the history channel is that everything is WWII or a repeat of something i didn't like the first time. I tend to find myself watching National Geographic alot more. Saying this you do occasionally get a few gems on the history channel from more than a century ago.

Yesterday is fine once you get past all the Antique Roadshow repeats, all those period drama adaptions and bloody Last of the Summer Wine

Live your life that the fear of death can never enter your heart. Trouble no one about his religion. Respect others in their views and demand that they respect yours. Love your life, perfect your life. Beautify all things in your life. Seek to make your life long and of service to your people. When your time comes to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song, and die like a hero going home.
