I just got a really interesting PDF in my email, I can't say from where but it looks like a preview copy of Codex Dark Angles. I don't want to get the site in trouble so I won't post a link here but I think most people can find it if they know where to look. But as far as I know there's no reason I can't summarize it here.

As many expected the codex brings the Dark Angles back to their roots as expert planners and strategists, masters of outflanking and attacks from unexpected directions. The Dark Angles no longer parallel the Ultramarines, they are clearly off on a tangent.

The original fluff about them being Native Americans is alluded to, the background section talks about how the Dark Angles have started recruiting from the world of Cos, which was once overrun by Genestealers and considered tainted. Its population is tanned and well muscled and willing to repent their sin to join the Dark Angles. Units from Cos are known as Cos-Sinners and are experts at infiltration.

In keeping with the new theme they'll be getting a new siege gun called the Land Raider Locus (picture a land raider with a vindicator gun up front). It costs 314 points and change but looks worth it. They also get a servitor variant known as the Sons of Apollonius who reduce scatter through their careful calculations of parabolic arcs and declination.

Naturally there's some new fluff about their deep, dark secret and who knows the secret. It seems there are now 36 degrees of initiation each with 10 levels. But the progress is not linear, once you've gone through every degree you're back where you started. It's all very zen.
Assault squads will get a buff with new T-shaped blades and hand weapons that have a triangular or arc shape. Because these weapons extend into other dimension (lost C'tan tech) they count as rending.

New special characters appear with the Dark Angles getting a new Third Company Captain (Pythagoras, hero of Hypotenus II) and new librarian (Euclid, Guardian of the Elements).

The Fallen Angles play an important role in complementing the Dark Angles and are described an acute problem though sometimes their tactics are a bit obtuse. The Sorcerer Riemann from the old Bloodquest books appears as Euclid's arch enemy. The fallen feel that they are right in their fight against the Dark Angles and that when they attack the Dark Angles reflex is to go straight off mission and hunt them down.

From what I see the Dark Angles will no longer be a plain 2-dimensional chapter but will really take on new depth.

If I may go off on a tangent, is there any news on the Blood Angles, I hear they might be falling to Choas in 6th edition.

You should go ahead and post a link on a site you are comfortable with getting in trouble. Because I can't find it anywhere!

You know what's sad? I picked up on most of the math references and still took it as real up until I saw the 'very funny' post.

I hear they're going to be supplementary to Fallen Angles, yet complementary to Blood Angles. But this doesn't add up for me. New laws for taking Tri-Angle-Armies, maybe!?

The Imperium of Man is able to traverse the Warp with difficulty when their Emperor concentrates from his golden life support machine and lights the way. Unfortunately, because the Emperor has the attention span of the average 5-year-old Pokemon fanboy, this means that many an unfortunate Imperial ship has had the WTF WHERE'D THE LIGHTS GO experience, which in the Warp is invariably fatal.

One more fluff tidbit - The Dark Angles' tactical skills were demonstrated in the battle Thu Pir where they quickly and accurately took the perimeter, then by taking Pir Square they controlled the area.

"Orkses never lost a battle. If we win we win, if we die we die fighting so it don't count. If we runs for it we don't die neither, cos we can come back for annuver go, see!"

I dig how in a setting where giant, muscled fungus men ride Mad Max cars and use their own teeth as currency, the concept of little engineering dudes with beards was considered a step too far down the aisle of silliness.

Instead of posting the obvious, people should just play along.

But noooo, some people always have to show off that they are intelligent enough to remember the date and ruin the fun for everyone else.

I've also heard from some local red shirts that the deep, repressed secret started with their Primarch Lionel Johnson. In particular, there is a touching poem in one of the margins where Lionel describes his lust for battle with his brothers and how his secret tortures him (even before the heresy).
