Hey guys. Just talked to my local guy who stated that the GW rep informed him that the 2 gamers editions (one of which I preordered) and the 2 collectors editions that he requested wouldn't be in for the Saturday "release date" due to the high volume of sales on these items.

I get the sense that my "pre-order" through the store is going to end up yielding me a plain old copy of the book. Anyone else here of a delay to indy retailers?

I noticed that the collectors and gamers editions are no longer availible on the GW advance order page. They were there on Friday.

Stores got mega-farked on Collectors and Gamers editions.


Independent's weren't allow to order them until they'd already been available for sale online for two days and by the time many opened and tried to place their orders on Monday it was too late. I know two different stores that I've played at quite a bit that were unable to either meet all or any pre-orders for these (including mine), of which there was a *5AM* deadline monday morning for west coast stores to place their orders (and of those that made that, many still won't get theirs) for those books.

There's a lot of rage amongst independent stores about that.

Collector's and Gamer's Edition will arrive next week in stores who ordered them. If you ordered Gamer's edition, you can ask the store to receive the rulebook on Saturday and get the (separately packed) gubbins later. They will probably agree.

Don't believe that. At least it is not true for Germany. My local store ordered them just fine.

I have gotten a couple stories on this.

One store I ordered from said that GW overpromised Gamers and is making a deal for folks who preordered it and won't get it. The deal is very appealing.

Another store I ordered from (yes, I ordered two separate gamer's) said that GW told them to not hold their breath on Gamer's/Collector's and nothing about a deal for people who didn't get it.

A third store that I know online (but didn't order from) confirmed much the same thing that FLGS should not have promised a true pre-order since they couldn't guarantee it for gamer's and collector's.

This was for US stores, I got the same story independently from two different shops 1100 miles apart. They couldn't order them until monday after they'd been on sale since friday.

The second store I mentioned confirmed they have 4 of each coming. So the first store may be a bit crazy.

My store was told they may or may not show. Sounds like they undersold on over-hyped package. Oh well, now the ebay hunt will begin...

Same here in Virginia. I got screwed. Not happy.

I find it very odd, because the 5th edition collectors edition took a long time to sell out.

My FLGS said he'll try to get one for me but he's not making any promises. According to him they were only available, or chiefly available, from the website.

They had to get orders in by 8am EST/5am PST to get them, though even then many were unable to.

To be fair, they were listed as direct only.

I don't remember exactly, either way stores were told that they couldn't even try to order them (aside from ordering them as consumers instead of as a business) until Monday when they went up Friday, and that hurts. I know a couple people that lost out because ordering from GW wasn't something they could really do as they're either moving (semester is out for university students) or don't have credit cards (again, students) but otherwise are willing and able to pay through their local store to take delivery and payment, and those customers missed out.

Yeah, they were. One of my stores had no problem, so I'd take that whole business with a grain of salt.

I normally wouldn't have brought such things up, I only put stock in it because I heard it from two different FLGS's one in California and one in Oregon, with almost identical stories, independently of each other. One bitching last week because they were told that orders would go up friday and they'd have to wait until monday, the other because they'd gotten in their order by the 5am deadline and still got boned.

As for the students, lots of people in college don't have cards, sometimes because they did have too many at one point XD sometimes because they are also luddites

Which store in Oregon? Curious now.

2 out of the 3 stores I talked to haven't had a problem. One was in Oregon.

To be fair though, I expected a shortage and we know there is a shortage.

I don't want to put the store's name out there because I don't speak for them but I will say that it's in the Willamette Valley, south of Portland.

i'll be sad if i don't get my gamers edition on release day... ordered it from the flgs but i'd have rather gotten the regular rules if it wasn't going to be ther on the 30th

I know I won't get my Gamer's on release day. I know I'll get one though. You should probably focus on the positive.

I ran into the same problem. Did not get the gamers even though my store was taking orders andnimpreordered and paid already...as did the 8 others. None of us got them. Yes they had actual prices and everything for collectors and gamers edition.

Gw did make say that the gamers edition or some kind of deal/offer was coming to those that ordered it an paid like someone mentioned in an above post to my store.

Interesting. That's the first confirmation of the deal that I've heard. If the deal is the same, it is way better than gamers.

I was going to get one but had to wait until i came back from a trip and now its not on the website anymore :(

I think it took something like 6 months. I remember I was looking for something else and I stumbled accross the collectors edition on their website and thought it was weird it was still available.

I'm confused, because both the web site, and the White Dwarf, said that the Gamer's Edition was Direct Only. All three of my FLGS said that since it was both Direct Only, and a limited item, that they couldn't be sure I would be able to get it from them, and that I'd probably need to order it direct from GW to be sure.

Given that the item was direct only, why were some FLGS able to order it at all? I don't begrudge them that, but I'm curious as to how they were able to do so, while others were not. None of my gaming stores overpromised me, though.

They weren't Direct Only when they announced the release. It changed on Monday.
