Alright, keeping in line with my thread about Special edition or L.E. Models, I have a new question for all!

I just received my Gamer's Edition of the 6th edition 40k rules! Yeah!
While I was waiting for the last couple of days, I'd been window shopping on Feebay.
I found 2 of the Gamer's Edition on there, both over $250. It got me to thinking about
all the new allies and fortifications I could possibly buy with selling mine for double or more
than what I paid for it. Now, I'm not going to do that, but would YOU do it? I don't
think it's wrong. And I also feel sorry for people that feel the need to get one SO bad!
Well, to a point.
Thoughts?

I bought mine for the purse. Then I saw the ebay prices for it.

Mine is currently up there, with the current bid at $220. The first one that went on ebay sold for $410 which is way more than they are going for now, I should have posted mine a week ago.

To me it came down to the fact that by selling it, I'd have enough money to finish my Red Hunters army. I'd rather have an army than a purse.

Depends..in ~5 years when 7th rolls around what will you be more happy to have: A 6th e. special edition, or a fair sized allied force/completed army?

To be honest...I'd be torn, but leaning towards selling it.

Well, did you check ended threads? Because just because people put them on eBay for $250,- doesn't mean they sell.

As for me selling my Gamer's Edition... It's a hard question for me to answer as I don't care for the luxury packages, but if I did I suppose I had bought it for a reason; because I wanted a kickass ltd edition book, not because I wanted to make some money on it.

Yeah if you can make $$$ now do it... and I have played against guys with the cool book in the past. They always seem to either borrow or pull out the starter rules sooner or later during the game.

Are you planning on displaying the book and showing it to house guests? Or is it going to sit on a shelf of "valuable" things nobody sees and you look at as you walk by once in a while?

Dude get more toys or profit and use the money to get someone to paint your army.

True, time should help the price go up, however people may stop wanting it so bad. The problem is that we don't know if the price will max out tomorrow, 3 days ago, or 6 months from now.

it's not the same as a LE model. It's a purse. It doesn't have the broad appeal that a model has.

Pretty sure It's regular rule book, with a sweet (p)leather purse and colored dice.
AFAIK, the dice color and purse are all that makes it "special".

that is correct. There is 1 auction up for just the purse which is currently at $112 bid.

People making $400 buyouts with no bidding will not sell theirs.

lmfao. That ebay username was originally my wifes, but I had registered it with my email and paypal, so I just kept using it. Apparently I can change it, but then I'd have to tell Firefox to change my auto login info, and I'm just that lazy.

I'd sell the sucker with a quickness. I like the look of the satchel, but honestly, I can buy or make a better quality bag complete with custom designs for my army for a fraction of what these bags are selling for. Show me the money.

I would have no problem selling it. It just really depends on what you want. I think in the long run I'd rather have the models than get the props for being that hardcore guy who bought the leather purse edition.

The biggest downside for resale is waiting for the cash from said sale to replace the book, and waiting on the dice.
Obviously the dice aren't a gamebreaker. Need the BRB though. Plus I like the idea of the dice/holders. In all honesty,
I don't see me taking the purse out of the plastic. It could find it's way to Feebay. I remember seeing that backpack
from awhile ago going from $50-$100. But I really didn't buy this with the idea of "flipping" it. I was just trying to guage
other people's feelings about it.
Thanks for the input so far!

If the average price is still $250 when I get mine, then I will be putting it up for auction the day it arrives. The way I see it, $250 gets me a rulebook and 6 Night Scythes.

It's kind of all over the place. Some are only $150-$170, but they also have time to build up speed for a couple of days.
The Higher ones $280 - over $300 ended much sooner.

@azazel
Will you do it as a BiN, or auction? If auction, how long will you set it for?

I'm gonna go against the crowd here and say keep it.

Yeah, it's just the regular book with a swagged out case, but isn't that half the fun of collectors/gamers editions? Sure, you could make a ton of money off of it, sucks for all of those people who decided that paying double is somehow better, but if the demand is high then you can be certain that the item is rare, and would be cool to own.

Though if you sold it for double or more, kudos to you. The hobby isn't getting any cheaper.

I had the 4th limited edition rulebook... did me a fat lot of good, so I sold it off for $40 to a collector. My FLGS has 3 copies of the limited 4th.

The fact is, everyone wants the current copy of the limited edition, but the novelty wears off, and in the end, all you really want is the compact version of the rulebook. If you keep the limited edition rulebook, people will look at you as if you have money to burn, and displeased. If you sell it, people will think you are a jerkface-jerkoff-jerkoloid..... by my experience you are damned if you do and damned if you don't. I'd sell it.

Looking at the Uk eBay site produces allot of gamers and collectors editions currently listing for allot less than RRP. The was 1 listing that had bids on a big figure.

Both. I'd set the BiN at $225 and start the auction at $200 and set it for 4 days.

It's confused me for as long as I've been on Feebay.
What something that has FW/Special/Limited/Rare/OOP/Propainted/ etc......will go for is just mind bottling.
It's like a scary cycle of life that I'm usually trying to avoid. Common sense can go a long way. And web searches....
