I was painting away watching TV when I thought ' I wonder if any famous people do the hobby'.

I know its something that most people dont go shouting from the hills, it could kill there cool rating over night.

Either way does anyone know of a celebrity, sport person or similar that do the hobby, its an interesting question.

I saw a thread about this around here a few months back. Google 'Robin Williams WH40K' and you'll see some guy who snapped a pic together with the funny man at his local GW.

Also Vin Diesel Plays 40K, not sure of race.

I thought Vin Diesel played Dungeons and Dragons. There's also a MN Vikings (American Football) player that mentioned he played some sort of wargame.

Edit: Just researched that Robin Williams rumor, he apparently likes Eldar. That'd be pretty cool to play against him!

This one keeps popping up, try a search. I know Robin Williams has been spotted playing 40k and Vikings kicker Chris Kluwe is a very active Warmachine player...I think he owns a game store somewhere.

Steve Carel has mentioned Warhammer before, on SNL, and his character painted miniatures in The 40 Year Old Virgin, which might have been influenced by the actor.

I don't think playing/painting minis like 40K would make someone less cool.... or maybe its because I'm so uncool to begin with... the Robin Wiliams pic is a riot!

Will Smith gets a mention here a lot, what with a copy of WD in a scene he was in.
David Mitchell (Peep Show, Mitchell and Webb) has been brought up, too.

Stephen Colbert used to play D&D, apparently he honed his acting skills with it.

Last time I saw a thread like this, names of note were will smith, Angelina Joelie, robin williams, vin diesel Not sure of evidence to back these up though (apart form robin)

wish there was a way to talk to famous people to see what games they like. So that way i can justify my spending to my better half.

"Very involved" seems to be an understatement

Peter Cushing was in a video on miniature wargaming painting. But that was more of the historicals, and less of the HHHobby

Chris Kluwe plays Cryx in Warmachine, and apparently has a huge army. He and Matt Wilson(founder/owner of PP) recently had a charity drive event at a south California game store.

Although Diesel's point of view is certainly understandable, even if the request was outrageous. I can imagine it would get pretty annoying to have people harass you left and right when you're just trying to have a good game. That said, it seems like he was pretty courteous and polite about the whole thing. Couldn't get his game in, so he buys something and leaves.

Vin Diesel has a preface dedicated to him in one of the DND books. Christopher lee has a warhammer fantasy undead army (influenced by PJ).
Marilyn Manson plays orcs, no idea if fantasy or not.

Vin also WROTE the preface to the DnD 30th Anniversary coffee table book that came out in 2004. I remember picking up that book in the library and going, wtf why is Vin Diesel in this.

Gerard and Mikey Way from My Chemical Romance both play Dungeons and Dragons, they even mention it in the video for their song "I'm Not Okay".

Wil is internet famous now... Though by that vein you could also include Trisha Hershberg and Meg Turney from Sourcefed, as Trish makes d20 references during their movie review show, has made a few dnd comments, and Meg made a comment about loving Imperial Guardsmen and their bad shooting.

But i think Wil has gained a bit of prominence from Big bang theory.
