So I've been trying to broaden my horizons outside of GW minis, and while looking some different places I have come across some minis that pretty much look like space marines from Scibor minis. I'm sure they make more than this but these are the ones I was interested in. Anyone had any dealings or know much about them? Thanks!

I've bought from them (and from stockists) in the past. They make some pretty sweet models (and the odd dud, but who doesn't?). I can't speak to the scale of their not-Marines to regular Marines (they always struck me as Terminator-sized), but I've got a bunch of the Henchmen and a few others and they all look great.

I wanted to use some of the space wolf looking ones as captains/HQ etc, so Termie sized wouldn't be the worst thing. Good to know the models are of good quality.

Not to jack your thread but...

Another good question would be, since the models are Terminator sized, if the shoulders could go on a normal sized model.

The shoulders in the pics I'm looking at are pretty huge, so I don't think they would.

Well, I thought that myself but, then I saw a few miniatures with a mixture of Anvil industries, Chapterhouse, and Scibor bits...

Scibor miniatures are quite impressive, i use the arch angel as Mephiston and it looks quite dominating on the table they are rather large as people have already said terminator size. but they do work great as HQs and i think the size could represent Saga of the Bear every nicely However from personal expericence i sugest buying from the troll trader, hes very good, i got mine in less than a week from the UK to NZ, i think he does free postage offers too. Also if i was told by Steve Buddle some time ago Scibor got in some hot water because they used to sculpt over GW models and cast the bits so any shoulder pad would probably fit on GW models if what he said was true. Hope this helps.

I went ahead and bought the three guys in the above pic off eBay. Guess I'll find out soon enough if I like them.

can't speak to their Marines, but I have two sets of the three minotaurs. They are absolutely gorgeous models and worth every penny.

Their "Not terminators" are actually bigger than normal terminators by just a tad.

The one i got was bigger than i expected so i used it as a primarch instead.

However, having said that if you make a full squad of them they should fit in well with the army

Also, weirdly, their shoulder pads look 'just' about right on a terminator arm, but the interior fitting will only fit a PA arm, unless you file it out/cut the arm down a bit. Eg, for my custodians, I used GK terminator arms, and had to cut their shoulders down to fit inside the pads...

That being said, never had a problem with their 40k models, bonus of being one block of resin. Their "not-wfb" warrior priest though, his spindly legs had massive bubble issues, worse than finecast...

So, would a single, normal marine from Scibor work for a chapter master? Or should I go the minotaur route?

Also, I can't find those pictures bud. :(

I usually order their products through The War Store. So far, they've been great. I have the not-Emperor, the other not-Emperor, the not-custodes (torsos and heads only), and a bunch of their dwarfs. The quality is pretty good, with only one or two bubbles that I can remember giving me any trouble. The swords are a bit weird-looking, a bit chunky and asymmetrical, but you can always replace them with something from your bits box.

Check my gallery, I bought and painted one last year instead of getting a fine cast librarian in terminator armour.

Good model, but slightly more expensive than even GW, and ever so slightly larger than the rest of the termies so, I doubt I'll bother with another.

In future, ill just eBay a used GW model I reckon.

Regards your question.. No chance of the shoulders fitting a normal model unfortunately, as I said, they are a fair way larger than GW scale Space Marines

Yes, these would work great as a HQ, the celtic marines look very wolf like too, that's where I'm heading for my scibor project.

They are slightly bigger as previously stated than your standard marine, but they are good models.

I picked up a couple of those models, which bear somewhat of a resemblance to Custodes, at Adepticon a few years ago. I have no complaints about them at all.

Holy wow, those really do look huge

By chance has anyone put one up alongside a 'true/heroic scale' marine/terminator? Perhaps more relevant to what I'm thinking, has anyone considered how or if these might be used for getting marines to that scale? Looking at the picture so far he makes me think of a 54mm human in power armor.

Might be able to help, here is a true scale marine (standard termi legs-PA torso)

And here is the not-emperor, on the same base

Also, here are the not-custodians next to a standard marine

So yeah they are big, but appropriate for true scale...

Eh, I don't know if that would work for me or not. I was wanting to create a custom HQ, and also use some Anvil industry bits.

The scale is nice for a HQ but, I don't know what I'd do to incorporate other bits so, it's a bit of a loss here.

Thanks Japehlio, that answered my question. I'm not sure how well they'd fit in with your run-of-the-mill 40k game, but I could see friendly games and such being alright with some more 'larger than life' sized marines running around. Dunno how well they might work in terms of conversions/mixing bits around if you needed to change out weapons though.

It seems to me all of his ebay/one-off stuff is kind of rushed and relies heavily on press moulds, albeit highly detailed CAD made press moulds. I've heard stuff about people finding fingerprints on them too.

His original casted stuff looks great though.

Oh no, not this "He uses press moulds - he is therefore a pariah of the modelling community!" thing again. It always comes up with Scibor is a topic of conversation and it never makes any sense. So he uses press-moulds... so what??? What difference does it make? Complaining about that smacks of so much elitist snobbery.

So after reading some of the replies on here I went ahead and ordered a few of the Scibor celtic knights I had pictured above. And I must say that they are just stunning. May have to pick up a few more of their line. Thanks for the responses guys!

I think it stems from the fact it's become somewhat blasé with Scibor going into the same realms of self-parody with GW's love affair with skulls. That and I seem to remember him pressmolding some existing GW parts (an assault Termie bare head IIRC) and claiming it as his own on the CMON forums, to which they quickly ripped him apart over it.

Personally; I dislike his whole style. But each to their own.

All I said was he relies heavily on press moulds with his ebay stuff and complimented the models he sculpts for casting. Troll someone else.

to me it looks like he makes tons of press moulded armour plates and sticks it ontop of space marine model. this is why his models almost always end up looking way overly bulky and fat. im personally not a fan.

I bought one to convert to a SM captain.

I didn't enjoy painting it one bit, there was a lot of fiddly detail that wasn't well defined, making it really difficult to pick out and resulted in the thing looking too fussy.

The scale is a tad off too, ever so slightly too large.

I've only ever used the mini on the table once, and I'm so dissatisfied with how it looks against my other models I haven't used it again. Won't be buying any more, but from a retail/delivery point of view everything was fine, so can't fault it from that point, just aesthetically and from a painting view not my thing
