From their FAQs:

Forge World wrote:Q2. WHAT PAYMENT METHODS DO YOU ACCEPT?

A2. If you're ordering from outside the UK we can only accept Visa and Mastercard credit card payments, but if you're a UK customer we can also accept Maestro and Visa debit cards. You can send an order to us by post enclosing a cheque made payable to Games Workshop Ltd to cover payment, and if your order is over £300 in value we can also accept a direct bank transfer. For more details on this payment method please contact the Customer Service team.

They used to have a more in-depth bit where they were discussing that PayPal was a potential option they were exploring.

Sorry KK, you're going to have to run the risk of the wife finding the CC bill like the rest of us!

Which makes zero sense. Damn near every online retailer uses Paypal. I guess they don't want to lose 4% of the 15% upcharge for shipping plus the VAT that us non UK buyers have to pay.

While there are many more taking PayPal, hardly every online retailer accepts it. I mean, the largest Online retailer in the world doesn't......

Amazon doesn't take paypal ONLY because paypal is owned by Ebay which is more or less a direct competitor. Forgeworld is hardly at odds with Ebay.

You can transfer from your PayPal account to a bank account for free, dependent on the amount. (Not sure whether that applies to all countries or just UK/USA.)

And you didn't want to wait the 3 odd days it takes for PayPal to transfer it to your debit card.. I feel your pain.

Nah, it's more I think of PP money as 'free money' I can spend on stupid stuff while my bank account has the serious money.

Best bet would probably be to pull it off ebay then. That comes right out of your papal account.

It only takes a few hours to transfer these days, well at least in the UK it does.

I did always find it odd GW accepts paypal, but forgeworld doesn't. Just one of life's funny little things.

Did you see my post? The Paypal MasterCard also pulls right from your account... and from what I can tell so far, can be used anywhere that MasterCard is accepted (i.e. Forgeworld's website, Kickstarter, Amazon, etc) as long as you have enough funds in your Paypal account. I have yet to try it without enough funds in the account, presumably it would then use my backup funding source (similar to Paypal).

3-5 days in Canada, for whatever odd reason. Though occasionally (very rarely) it has been as "fast" as 2 days for me.

I remember trying that years ago, but the card didn't have the "3 digit security code" on the back, At the time anyway.

Works now as my only direct FW order was made with it. Took a few days to go through, though I've heard others have had issues getting their normal CC to work with FW.

Good to know man! I'll admit I was gun shy about doing it again, but now it sounds like I need to get another one.

They've said in the past that it's because of paypal's policies and fees. FW are a niche market business that has a lot of really large transactions, that's not really a good fit for paypal's policy of taking 95% of the money in fees and always favoring the buyer if there's a dispute. And IIRC it would have been even worse than the normal policies the average person gets, there were even bigger fees associated with being a business that regularly gets $500+ purchases.

TBH the real surprise is that GW takes paypal, but I guess people buying $5 worth of paint are less likely to be committing fraud.

Do they not have an FAQ up that'd cover this? Would seem a bit unhelpful if they didn't.

Why don't you just pay with a credit/debit card like everyone else? I really don't see why you'd need paypal to buy anything from a store that takes normal credit cards.

Because it's more fun to whine and say using a credit card is too hard, or that FW is doing their best to not take the money of someone who is just trying oh so hard to throw it at them.

In the last case, if someone was actually willing to pay $1000+ on FW stuff, I highly doubt the terrible inconvenience of grabbing their wallet is going to stop them.

I think it's time to start being more reasonable on these forums, this is just a silly thing to whine about. Granted, some people have gotten useful info about the paypal credit card, but others are just whining.

As it has been pointed out by RiTides, you can get the PayPal "credit card" which uses your paypal account. It has a fancy little MasterCard symbol on it, and can be used in such places that accept MasterCard, of which Forge World is one of them.

FYI, paypal mastercard is not available in Canada (for those interested)

It always struck me as it should be the other way around. GW wouldn't, but forgeworld would being smaller etc, it's funny how perceptions get you like that.
As a semi frequent man cave clearer on ebay, I don't blame them at all.

Just one of those funny little things.
