Hey everyone.

I think most of you saw the new page and the new prices by now. I think, there's a good chance to highlight the most interesting moments here. From what I've seen so far:

- New IG codex: 38€ for printed version, ~45 € for iBook
- Big Mek with SAG up to 33€. I think that's the most expensive single infantry modell out there without having the bulky USR or MC or anything else, making him more expensive than say the DP of Nurgle (MC).
- price raises on several other modells such as Kommandoz and some HQ options
- Chaos Land Raider. Went up to 60€ from I believe 52 it was before. Without even notification (I believe the red arrows mark products that got a price raise.
Unless, you know, GW "forgot" to add them)

Just add your finds to the list. I think we can safely ignore the marked price raises on the whole, but I bet there is a lot of other stuff I haven't noticed so far.

Codex: Astra Miltarum (All Languages)

No breadcrumb trail.
Instead there is a small "Back" link that moves around the page or disappears depending on what type of page you are looking at.
The slideshow on the front page is annoying.
The left side menu uses two different mechanics for making selections, but doesn't allow selection by clicking on names.
The product filters allow you to look for say IG and Tau at the same time, which is nice but confusing and probably not wanted.
When you click on a product, the page layout makes the info about your selected product look overshadowed by a larger set of info on "other things they think you might like to buy". You have to do another clikc to get the full info on the product.

The site is clearly designed primarily as a sales promotion tool rather than an information searching utility. It is more difficult to navigate that it might be.

I can't help thinking they could have done better in terms of UX.

New layout is good though on my phone anyway. Literally just a sales site now though, which is sad. I remember when there was a separate page all together for sales. I shed a tear.

But no price bumps I can notice with necrons at least. Red icy lots about the SAG

The new Wyvern and Hydra are separate kits.

Less VFM, as with the codexes.

This plastic kit can be assembled as either a Hydra or a Wyvern with 2 crewmen: a gunner and a spotter and has the option to equip a heavy bolter or a heavy flamer.

Thats from the hydra. They have seperate pages but both comes from one kit.

I wondered why the Wyvern box illustration was a Hydra box.

They made a seperate entry for every unit option, probably to make it easier for parents to buy something their kids want them to.

Were sisters of battle allways ~70€ for a 10-modell squad? This is ridiculous. Every other troops choice of similar size is 1/3rd the price...

From what I'm seeing, fairly certain that Sisters are still at the same prices. Yes, they've always been very expensive. You non-faithful just never notice.

Yep, I'm not seeing any Sister price increases scanning over them. But then, it wasn't really needed, was it?

I sort of like the new way of listing units with the pictures being very prominent.
Wouldn't call the site a huge overhaul though. It's a 2010 design version of the original site, and it looks more like an adapted template than something built for GW.
The country choice is better than it was, but the main site now looks very randomly thrown together, like they thought of things that needed to be on there after the design was finalised.

Here we go again. People crying and moaning. Sales site? This was one of the first things that were said about the old layout.

So now the old layout of being a sales site is ok but not the new one? So how come the old one was ok, when we bitched and moaned about it, being harder to navigate when the one before that was better. Then we complained that it was a sales site and not good.

Oh look same thing. Just goes to show you, no matter what GW does, we will bitch and complain and moan. We ask for change, we get change, and then we complain about it.

on the forum. Obviously

Because the old one had army information and FAQs? It was a sales site, but at least it had some interesting things.

Now, if the new one is just incomplete and they haven't added all the good stuff, that would be fine.

Question is though, if it still isn't complete, why did it take them so long to update it?

Not really.

There is good change and bad change. If you don't like something, complain about it and ask for change, and it is changed and gets worse, why are you now not allowed to complain about it?

A mention or 2 was this new site is done just for sales and nothing more. Same thing was said for the last site when it went up on the first day. Things just never change. I am not upset. Just tired of complaints people do just because GW sneezes.

That is the difference. How old are you? Kids complain. Grown adults criticize in a grown up manner. For what ever reason, GW makes us all kids and we just complain like little kids and not like adults.

Which were neither crying nor moaning.

Content the old site had is now no longer available. This is more so a web store than the previous one, which at least attempted to have articles and FAQs and what not.

Don't confuse legitimate criticism with overused words like whining and moaning and hating.

Then again, why would GW tell us what products they raised the prices on? That's giving people bad news!

So instead of someone saying how much they dislike the new website they should say exactly what they think is wrong with it in a disapproving way? This would make them more adult?

Don't get it

Complaining is not childish tho, complaining in a childish manner is. Hell you can be critical and still be childish. Seems like killcrazy was advocating complaining with a view to encourage change, which to me does not indicate any kind of childish behaviour.

Looks great on my phone, which is where I load it about 90% of the time. So I'm happy with that. The old site was crap for mobile devices.

I've never bought a thing off the site to begin with, It was only ever a price reference guide, so not much change for me.

Anyone else getting a bar pop up along the bottom advertising freetwitube that also has a load of alternate shopping sites to buy warhammer stuff?

Battle Sister heavy weapons have gone up to £8.70. Last time I looked they were £8.40.

Website is now so flash-heavy that it has made my netbook crawl and destabilise. Truly unpleasant to use.

Site works fine for me and isn't anymore script heavy than Amazon is honestly. I just wish they used the space better instead of making the pages so tall.

Oh no.

A few years ago, games-workshop.com was nice. Everything was accessible (for disabled people), nicely formatted, and done in html (for easy linking). Then they rolled it over to the php monstrosity they had that was slow, awkward, took awhile to find your content, didn't necessarily load correctly on mobile devices, and no longer worked with links or Linx.

So then they decided, you know all of those things we did to make our website worse? Let's make them even WORSE!

Let's destroy browsing, while simultaneously making people who know what they want have to click on more stuff, and then pretend that the product doesn't represent a game with underlying rules. Let's streamline it so that the website directs people to buy the most expensive products and nothing more. Let's deploy mass pagification so that we can put more ads (for our own products) per amount of content that we provide.

I didn't used to go to their website often (at least after their last update), but I can't imagine what I'd go there for now. They have reduced their website to literally nothing more than a somewhat-confusing direct-sales experience. Nothing more.

If I wanted to buy something, I'm going to just ask my FLGS owner to get it for me, as he already knows the codes for stuff, and I'd be supporting a necessary local business. The current GW website has literally nothing that my FLGS can't provide, and with better customer service to boot.
