Just found this bomb drop, take it with some salt.

Some rumours circulating that 9th Ed Warhammer Fantasy will be dropping in the next week or so.

"1) Coming tomorrow to a GW near you will be a series of new posters for in store advertisement for something BIG as the corporate email stated.
2) Some GW stores are finding Island of Blood sets are being zeroed out of their system for restock. Similar when Dark Vengeance happened to Assault on Black Reach.
3) This part is speculation: Bretonnians are going to be playing a big part in the Nagash saga in the beginning, it is believed the following is going to happen:

a) Pre-Order for 9th Edition will be Sept 13th (with special editions - standard new edition merchandising)
b) October will receive the new box edition (if standard releases from past is an indicator) which may contain Bretonnians and Undead.
c) Bretonnians will have a new Army book, model release following that, possibly into November before the Christmas packs roll in.
d) intermingled among these releases will be probably some filler models (repackaged Crom/Valten/etc.), army bundles, etc.

4) Not of speculation, though it must be considered rumor, I (and a few chosen) have personally seen new artwork by John Blanche for Bretonnians. Does this mean it will be in the new book? No idea, but sometimes his stuff is used for the sculptors to pull concept to model.

Or we could be really blindsided by everything and it be 25 new paints (not very likely), Dark Eldar (possible) or something ridiculous like a mass Hobbit release. GW likes to have a strong second quarter launch that will help carry through 3rd quarter (end of February)."

I nearly bought a 8th edition rule book yesterday. Regardless whether or not these rumors come to fruition I'm glad I didn't

Is there any info rules-wise how 9th may or may not shake things up?

No idea Ratius. This info is 1 part fact + 1 part rumor + 1 part speculation. Usually, each edition is a shake up as of late, hopefully if this comes true (i will know in about 45-60 minutes from now ) then we can start analyzing the most recent army books and the Nagash release for some common threads that could point to details. Especially considering the Nagash rules states they are New Warhammer Fantasy rules for both scenarios included and standard Warhammer Fantasy games. Either way it has me (a dedicated, lifer 40k player) excited about the possibilities.

Or disappointed that it all ended up being a new box of squats vs. dark eldar. Then in some circles this one goof up sees all my credibility lost and I am blacklisted lol.

I'm very excited for this. 8th is a good system that needs just a few tweaks. With all the new end of times stuff I can see this bring completely true. Bring on the bretonia vs undead box!

I really really hope they dont change to much. From what I have heard of the Undead stuff its already cracking the game, night goblins rasing black knights? whattheacctual?

I hope they change next to nothing, its such a stable balanced rule set already :(

Do you know how hard it is to pull "Night Goblins raising Black Knights" off?
You need to get a 6 for Akar'aran--The Dark Riders when generating spells and then you need to cast it on a 16+. Add to it that the spell is actually used for "a single unit of Cavalry, Monstrous Cavalry, or Chariots worth up to 150 points".

This isn't like Daemonology where it's a joke to pull this stuff off.

I ment the concept of all of the wizards in the world being able to do it, because GW don't play test anything so it will have flaws....and for the amount of time it takes them to release...or not release in a lot of cases a FAQ, it will leave gapping holes and flaws to be exploited in my opinion. I don't disagree with TK and VC needing a bolster, but it seems like a GW push for more undead model sales, without thinking of the consequences

I've read through the spells and they are great... for VC and TK players, but thats the only people who should get it

I just dont like the new change and i dont think ill like the new rules if they are going to be in the same vain

Seconded Kanluwen. I played a 1500 point game last night with my Tomb Kings against Skaven where I used the End Times rules and the lore of undeath. I ran two level 4s, a prince in chariot and a level 2. I managed to raise (in the whole game) 1 necrosphinx (good), 10 skeleton warriors, and 16 skeleton archers. I also gained a few wounds back on a couple of units. It was really cool, but hardly game breaking, especially since I only had three units to deploy at the start of the game (5 chariots, 20 archers, 15 warriors). This lore was made for Nagash and friends, so don't expect anyone that's not them to do crazy things with it. They are all extremely hard to cast if you plan to get any real results with them, and the winds of magic can easily hamstring any efforts you make at casting (for instance, twice I rolled 4 for winds of magic). Don't expect to be doing some crazy summoning on 4,5, or 6 dice.

Can't we assume we have already seen a preview of 9th with the End Times release? Combined rider and mount stats, new force percentages, etc. Just a glimpse, but a sign of things to come.

Using Undead magic on NG shamans might actually be a good idea given that the Little Waaagh!!! isn't a very strong lore.

Gah, I really hope this isn't true, if GW's recent history is anything to go buy 9th ed will be a massive pile of badly written rubbish.

I guess it's a good thing I've got the Kings of War rulebook hanging around.

Ok ladies and gents. I have to start off apologizing. I misread the information handed to me. I thought that part of the info that was incoming would be in the weekly shipment, it was not. It is still coming this week but not today.

Additionally after emailing, email creeping and msg board snooping several things may be happening but not in the order I predicted. I am trying to consolidate the information and hopefully re-address it by tomorrow.

As I said, as any rumor digger will attest to, finding known info + rumored info + speculative info can equal it blowing up in your face in several ways:

1) Not be true at all.
2) Being true to some extent but not in the order predicted
3) Being almost 100% spot on

Right now I think I am in the category 2 area, the info points that way but the time frame + info I revealed a few months ago are now intermingling. So I think my time frame and order of release is off. I will keep digging, begging, threatening (in a nice way) to obtain correct info.

Long Jetty, The place is a dump

God I hope this is true, as a bloke wanting to begin a Bretonnian army but not with what is currently available (Although I have the current Army Book).

Although this may be just a co-incidence Knights Errant/Realm are currently unavailable on the Australian Games Workshop site.

I suppose I better get that Island of Blood set before it is gonski.

Same here!

Though I also want the next edition of WFB to hit soon too, and tweak what needs tweaking!
