Subject: Anyone sell bulls or buffalo? (for Ogre Chariots)
As the title. I've started painting again after 3 1/2 months, and I'm making myself finish off the Ogre Shooters that cockblocked me over a year ago. Now I'm looking at some of the other stuff that was giving me trouble, and I may have found a solution - if I can find appropriate figures. I'm not a fan of the boars as beasts of burden that Mantic use for their repurposed Orc>Ogre chariots, and a couple of nights ago the solution came to me while lying in bed. Bulls! Maybe Buffalo or even Oxen if there are no appropriate bull models out there. Ideally a couple of different sculpts that are GW-horse sized, since I don't want weedy beasts pulling my chariots, but I've had no luck finding mean enough looking ones to pull an Ogre Warlord's chariot. I'm not after Bolt Action's placid field cows that are sold as scenery. I'm looking for mean looking muthas.
Does anyone have any ideas on what might be out there or where to find? Reaper have this thing, but I'd prefer something a bit more realistic looking...
Blue Moon Manufacturing makes Oxen for their Wagons Ho! line of models. You might need to ask them if you can get just the oxen.

The reason I bought rules and became a real wargamer was because I wanted a properly thought out structure to govern the action instead of just making things up as I went along.

The Aliexpress ones look like they have good potential for a lot of uses - there's several nice looking animals there - but the description says they're 1/100 scale. Of course, it also says they're blue, and made of monosodium glutamate, so...

Still, 1/100 scale means they're just slightly bigger than 15mm, at least according to TMP

Oh - I wasn't being critical. I was actually excited and then deflated because the set looks so good. I'm tempted to buy one or two anyway - just in case their 1/100 scale listed is as accurate as the information about them being blue and made of MSG (they look a bit too detailed to be much smaller than the pics). I'm actually loving everything in that set and could find a use for them all, given some time.
I'd love one of those, just because. Shame it costs the Earth.
Oddly enough it's one of those GW figs that's actually worth the cost. It's comparable in cost, even cheaper in some cases, than other manufacturer's resin miniatures of that size!

Also on CSI, there is a product called "Bull" from Miniatures Factory (prepainted stuff).. no picture, but there is a text of "Bull miniature, mounted on 50mm base. Pre-painted and ready to use in your adventures"

I think one of the local LOTR players, who was selling his mordor army, may have an extra one. Let me know if you're interested, I can probably get it below US$ GW retail and pass the savings on to you (plus shipping to AUS, but it should fit under the 4lb international first class limitation)

Hm, it would depend very much on the price he wants (and condition). The drop in the AU$ plus USPS prices might actually make it cheaper to buy locally new from GW.
Schleich make great farmyard stuff.
http://www.schleich-s.com/en/GB/search/ They also have a buffalo and their exact sizing is noted on each listing.
Any good?
Oli: Can I be an orc?
Everyone: No.

Potentially. I was looking at their stuff the other day. Their Black Bull has a lot of potential, and then I start getting sidetracked into Elephants and DInosaurs.
Why do I feel like I'm going to end up spending about $200 on various bovines, elephants, rhinos, crocs and dinos?
Automatically Appended Next Post: Done some more digging on places to get Schleich, and ended up on a site that sells various brands of animals.. including a French company called "Papo".
Papo also makes beast-men, amongst their fantasy range.

I think he wants $60 but I'm sure he'd take $55. I think it's primed grey. USPS 1lb first class to Australia is about $16 shipping. That'd be $71 USD, or what, about $90 aus? Dang it's $118 from GW direct...
Also, weren't you looking for Perry War of the Roses stuff? My buddy is selling about 250 WotR figs, mostly plastic Perry figs.
I guess PM me

Sorry, I don't have it. Just handled it extensively. We used to go to Puzzle Zoo to beat the heat a lot, but buying anything that wasn't a horse or dinosaur would have shattered the pretense that we were there for the boy's sake.
Keep in mind this was shortly after Bones 1, so I didn't "need" any more monsters.
If you've seen any of the Papp or schleps or safari dinosaurs, the quality was about the same, with scaly texture and some nice sculpting. They do have Lego hands, though, so that the weapons are interchangeable. Also, weapon shafts were prone to warping. In retrospect they were very similar to Bones minis, but about four or five inches tall.
Edit: papo or schleich. Stupid autofethup

The Trollbloods Long Riders buffaloes (known as "tuffaloes" to trollbloods players) could be perfect for this:
I think the legs are attached to the mount, though, so they would require converting. The Trollbloods War Wagon has buffaloes without the legs, but they're both in an identical pose (and you'd have to find a way to buy them as bits, or have to purchase the full War Wagon to get them).

What size are they? Nevermind pulling chariots - I'd use those outright as Ogre cavalry with just a headswap (and bigger shields) if they're in the right ballpark size. (I'm using a mix of Old-GW-Goodwin metals, GW-OK, Mantic Ogres, and anything else that looks cool, so not any kind fo 100% uniform force.
