This KS looks interesting.

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1900818244/vampire-hunters?ref=discovery

Vampire Hunters is a cooperative board game for 1-4 players.

Take the role of a hunter against vampires!

Players must work together to complete 10 different missions, with 10 different maps (made using the included modular maps tiles), using many powerful weapons and their special abilities.

Stay together to increase your attack and defense strength, be precise, be strong, but most of all be fast, because the night is coming.

In Vampire Hunters, each player is always active during the game, thanks to the innovative system of artificial intelligence that controls the vampires.

When a hunter fights against an enemy and loses the match, this enemy deals a wound and moves to the next nearest hunter, who will immediately have to fight!

In Vampire Hunters, all the hunters will have to fight even if it's not their turn. "YOU WILL ALWAYS BE IN THE GAME!"

Vampire Hunters the board game, uses the "The Attack Line" fighting system. With the attack line system, you'll feel the panic caused by a vampire running toward you, ready to feast on your blood.

The "attack line" adds reality to each combat by combining panic level and aiming-accuracy according to the distance from the vampire.

Are you ready for the fight?

Ok let's go, it's time to kill some vampires!

Looks like a vampire version of Zombicide.

Kirasu: Have we fallen so far that we are excited that GW is giving us the opportunity to spend 58$ for JUST the rules? Surprised it's not "Dataslate: Assault Phase"

AlexHolker: "The power loader is a forklift. The public doesn't complain about a forklift not having frontal armour protecting the crew compartment because the only enemy it is designed to face is the OHSA violation."

AlexHolker: "Allow me to put it this way: Paramount is Skynet, reboots are termination attempts, and your childhood is John Connor."

Wasn't this a KS last year ?

If not, there was an incredibly similar one.

In any case the miniatures look cool, and the price isn't bad.

What material are the models made of? I ran quickly through the comments, but didn't find any mention.

In fairness, they do show some painted figs. They suffer from the problem most kick starters do with me though - duplicates of figures I only want one of, and/or wanting me to buy a whole game.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
I like the vampires quite well though, and a more varied range of them might get my patronage.

Looks pretty cool... but KS fatigue may have set it pretty hard for me at this point. Hope it makes it to retail though!

I too am hoping for alternate sculpts for the Vampires to diversify the mini's. Here is also more info on the Facebook page.

Do they allow for add ons? Depending on the prices, I would like to piggy back onto someone else's pledge for an elder or some giant bats.

The looks are very deceiving.

Honestly I wasn't too impressed with the miniatures or the initial game layout page. My first impression was new board game startup, looks like a revamp. I actually watched the Game Pay videos and was pleasantly surprised. I'm still wary mainly because they are a new company without a lot of information and March Madness with KS so funds are low. However after watching the videos, I'm definitely leaning towards interested. The way creature combat worked, night/day phases seemed interesting.

Well, they're sure selling it like Zombicide. It's pretty much bang on the same formula. Even the over-the-top pulpy style is pure Zombicide.

New company or not, do the math on the upfront investment. It is pretty substantial, so at least you know that there's money behind it. Whether the company can deliver or not is a different question, I suppose.

So far there's more than 20 unique sculpts, which is probably 10-20K unless they are sculpted by company owners. Room tiles, card art, concept art, illustrations. I wouldn't be surprised if they've put 40-50K into art assets alone. Have they said what material the miniatures will be made out of?

From what I can tell so far:

Material will be 'same as Zombicide' - so...OK, but not spectacular.

What they've shown so far are most likely painted resin masters.

Curiously enough, they claim that you will NOT be able to add funds in the post-campaign Pledge Manager.

Weird...

So I'm tempted but...

Nice renders + most likely PVC + no ability to add later on once we've seen more (hopefully) = most likely going to pass.

Actually if you read the FAQ, you can add funds during the pledge manager as long as you are in at the Hunter level (i.e. not just the $1 pledges). The figures are the same material as Zombicide and they posted a size comparison with a Zombicide and Gears of War miniature in the Comments section for those interested. Gameplay looks good to me and I really like some of the miniatures, so probably going in on this one.

They must have updated that then, because initially they weren't allowing post=campaign increases.

So, that's good.

I really want to like this one - but something seems...NQR.

Not to mention that Zombicide itself is launching Season 4 soon.

Maybe a little teak, Padre?

If they had some clones of those hunters I'd be all over it- although it still looks awesome.

The Kickstarter has been canceled.

Update #25 : Dear Backers

Dear backers,

It is with a heavy heart that we have to announce the cancellation of this Kickstarter campaign. This is not the end of Vampire Hunters but a new beginning.

Why are we cancelling a successful campaign?

We’ve made mistakes on the campaign, and would like to incorporate your feedback into the Vampire Hunters game itself.

That’s not going to be possible without more work and time, and much preparation for the campaign itself.

What are some of our ideas for the game and for a new campaign?

- The next campaign should last 30 days

- Third party review videos should be ready when the new campaign launches

- We will look into rules for turned vampires

- We will look into the possibility of playing hunters vs vampires

- We will try to improve the quality of the Miniatures even further

- We will be working hard on the rules and the rulebook

- We will playtest new ideas and mechanics And more

We do not know what will make it into the final game or when we are going to relaunch but we will keep you updated through Kickstarter, our website and facebook.

Thank you for your support so far. We hope to see you all again when we are back on Kickstarter.

Thank you!
