We are very excited to announce that tickets for the inaugural Dragon-Fall GT (http://www.dragon-fall.com) are now available for purchase via our website. Happening this Oct 3 & 4 in beautiful Naperville, IL, the Dragon-Fall GT looks to establish itself as the Midwest’s premier autumn event. Among the many exciting perks being offered at the convention, players will get to play on and purchase the new Dragon-Fall gaming mats. Players can also expect great looking awards, outstanding prize support and a couple of surprises during the weekend.

The following are some of the events being hosted at this year's convention:

  • Warhammer 40K GT: The main event of Dragon-Fall, the two day 40K tournament. Bring your 1500 point army and prepare for 5 rounds of gaming set in the 40K universe.

Warhammer Fantasy – Return to 8th Edition: On Saturday night, Dragon-Fall will be hosting a Warhammer Fantasy tournament using pre-End Times 8th edition rules. Bring a costume for bonus points and be prepared to drink and game until the sun comes up.

Warmachine/Hordes Master's Event: On Saturday, players will participate in a 50 point Master’s Format event.

X-Wing Escalation: A Saturday night tournament for lovers of the awesome game created by Fantasy Flight.

Age of Sigmar: It is a new beginning for the Warhammer world and Dragon-Fall is inviting you to take the plunge with them. (Tournament rules go live 8/1)

  • For more information about each event and to purchase tickets, head over to the Dragon-Fall website.

No. $60 is too much for a 5 round tournament.

Yeah that also was a concern of mine, especially since they are forcing you to buy a 10 dollar ticket on top of a 50 dollar one.

Thanks for expressing interest in this year's Dragon Fall. I do know of members of Dakkadakka that will be attending , so you will not be the only forum member there this year.

With regards to the price for the 40k GT, we are aligned with other events in the area and during this time of year. If you are interested in comparing, checkout BiTS, Redstone Rumble, Bugeater GT, Renegade Open or the Michigan GT. (All of which are amazing events for a similar price.) Just want to let people who may be considering the event know that we are priced comparable to others of the same size, format and such.

I know $60 is a lot for many folks, myself included, but I truly feel it will be worth it to those that attend this year. We have some great terrain, all games are played on professional mats, and the prize support keeps pouring in.

Sounds great! I'm very interested in attending this event.

How "friendly" is the friendly list expectation going to be?

Is this a matter of each person expecting to bring a reasonable list or will there be a judge(s) policing the lists?

The goal of the Dragon-Fall GT is to create an organized, but relaxed, atmosphere where members of the 40K community can come together to enjoy a weekend of friendly gaming with new and old friends. To this end, we want to encourage everyone that comes to bring their casual lists and plan on playing five friendly games of 40K.

    Kronk,

Thanks for the question. Idea with Dragon-Fall is to have a more laid back atmosphere instead of a WAAC environment.

As you know the devil is in the details with this goal. But check out our FAQ's and I think you will see that we have a balance between competition and fun.

    https://www.dragon-fall.com/?page_id=87

    A Few Highlights

1)It starts with points. This is for 1500. Difficult choices have to be made.
    2) LoW- it is a unique choice. (0-1)
3)Buy your opponent a drink for a re-roll during the game.
4)Never out of contention for an award. Even if you are not a contender for Best Overall. We have "Rogue Trader" and "Last Chance Hero"
which are unique as you are never truly out of the tourney for losing 1 game.
    5) a two factor sportsmanship score.
    6) lists will be reviewed by TO, prior to event.

These are just a few of the ways that we think we will be successful with this format.

    Thanks again for the question,

    DF

I gotta say one thing bugs me, you're using the ITC, but ignoring it for the two most broken things in 40k That ITC fixes. WHY?

Thank you for the feedback and question:

The primary reason we did not adopt some of the rules that are marked as ‘For ITC format events’ was due to early feedback. Many of the folks who expressed interest stated to us that they did not want to see core rules changed. We also felt that it was important to not change core rules if possible as most locals who are attending may not be familiar or comfortable with the differences (though it could be argued that they should be considering Adepticon shares the same FAQ). The D weapon change was the only one that we felt needed to be implemented as neither option (ITC or BRB) felt like the correct choice for our event.

But should a bunch of D Weapons be showing up in a friendly, anyway?

Either way, I'm down to blow stuff up.

I got no problem with D-weapons, after seeing how UNdeadly my Killbursta has proved in 6 battles, #1: killing 1 Grey knight Libbie, #2 causing 5 wnds on ScaaBthiex cause he couldn't roll his 3+ THREE TIMES #3: 2 Death company and # 6 causing respectively 1 hp to the nearest Wyvern and 2hp to the second one, Yes in 4 and 5 it did NOTHING.

If we define Timmy to be, "It is more about the journey than the destination", I would say Timmy.

I would also say the event is more Vorthos than Melvin.

No, I would not expect someone to spam D given the nature of Dragon Fall.

For clarity: The "ITC" FaQ does not include nerfs to Invisibility, Re-rolls on 2++ OR Strength D. The Frontline Gaming crew chooses to include these changes in the version of the ITC FaQ that they post on their site. They clearly preface each change with, "For ITC format events...". So, while the FaQ is held in common, the additional changes are not. That is, when referring to the ITC FaQ, one is not automatically referring to the ITC format.
