It probably doesn't work this way.

I must say, GW does seem to be turning over a new leaf. Between this promotion, rules being included with kits, and the Tau book not being made obsolete, they actually seem interested in getting customers' money. The Betrayal at Calth being a monster deal doesn't hurt either.

Now, do I want the DV set?

Why wouldn't it ? The only thing i can see being in the t&c's is that you can only use one voucher per person or transaction. If its per person you just give your cash to someone else to pay for what you want .

Regardless it'd be a waste of money as you can pretty much make a single purchase from a discount seller and earn more than the £10 they are offering through this thing.

I think it's potentially a good way to get a new person in or at least save some money if your "new player" friend is good at playing dumb

I like it, it's rare for GW to give anything that could be perceived as a discount out.

Sorry I couldn't help myself.

Seriously though, a nice move by GW. In between this, black friday sales and return of specialist games? What the hell is going on, the world is being turned upside down!

Dude... I could bring my friend who, very clearly, knows what GW is, buy two BaC boxes and get like 30$ to boot... although my local FLGS offers a 20% discount (interestingly enough, sometimes a 40% discount) on GW stuff and Citadel...

Read the T&C. I posted them up. I got given a card when I bought a box of Scouts on Saturday.

Specifically the T&C states:
3. A 'Starter Set' means one of the following Games Workshop products: Warhammer Age of Sigmar; Dark Vengeance. Games Workshop retains the right to add or remove products from this list. Not all Starter Sets may be available in all Games Workshop stores at all times.

So no BaC.

What going on with GW!!!

First they give us plastic Heresy models.

Then they announce the return of specialist games.

AND NOW A CREDIT VOUCHER for getting a friend into the game!!! FOR BOTH PLAYERS!

...you know... if it wasnt for the rumors that there will be a price hike for the Heresy box I would say GW lost their damn mind. I'm so used to GW crapping all over my favorite hobby that finally doing something right just sounds ridiculous.

... then again its the least they could do for destroying fantasy.

The "rumors" for the price hike have been pretty thoroughly discredited by Hastings.

It's from Visions, which was printed months ago. The decision to lower the price was made recently.

I think the fact of the crumbling customer base has penetrated even the self-congratulatory fug of GW's higher-ups. They're realising they're a business, not a personality cult.

I'm sooo, sooo sorry.

AoS Starter or Dark Vengeance.

The problem is that you're paying full price for the starter though I suppose that you could return the box and then repurchase it with the voucher. People who live in areas without GW stores are out of luck.

I think he meant a minimum spend to use the voucher like £50 and get your £10 off . I cant see them just giving you £10 store credit to go in and get one of the cheaper clam pack characters for free .

Gathering the Informations.

You literally just get a gift card with the amount on it from the way the T&C is worded.

So if you wanted to get one of the cheaper clam pack characters for that amount? Go for it!

The only real caveat is that you CANNOT use the voucher for the purchase of the starter set. It gets issued AFTER you purchase it.

And I have a feeling that the first time someone tries the crap like Curnow was suggesting(buying a starter set, returning it later and using the gift cards), managers will start having people open the boxes there.

Good luck with that. Once you purchase it, it is your property to do with as you will, including not opening it and returning it for a refund (and you can generally return things for a refund even if the packaging has been opened in the UK anyway). Unless the T&C of the voucher states that it must be returned if the item you purchased to "earn" it is returned, I am not sure what exactly GW can do other than accept you returning the product and letting you keep the voucher.

Edits: typos and generally terrible grammar.

Can they do this legally?

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.

Good luck with that. Such a thing is completely unenforceable.

Voucher can be used on any purchase other than the initial transaction that actually qualified you for the voucher.

If you aren't a store regular or I don't know you, I'd probably have you open the starter set in the store.
