Subject: So what's on your plastics wish list now?
2015-16 is a banner year for plastics, almost wiping out my old wish list!
For me I ran out and got the Frostgrave Cultists and will probably run out and buy the Warlord/Wargames Factory modern soldiers too. GW Skitarii and other Adeptus Mech were a welcome surprise and the Ranger/Vangaurd kit is full of great bitz. Maelstroms Edge has some great robots and drones coming.
And I just learned Gripping Beast does plastic Arabs (WHERE WERE YOU WHEN I WAS DOING TALLARN, WHERE?)
Heck Dream Forge's female tank hunters are about as close to plastic IG/SOB are we're likely to see.
And if you count multipart resin we have great kits from Victoria Lamb, mad Robot, Max Mini and Anvil that let you recreate almost any of the old IG metal regiments.
But as always I want MOAR! MOAR! MOAR!
For the purposes of this discussion let's not talk about GW-specific kits, but general ones. Someone can always start a wish list in the appropriate GW forum.
So my current wish list:
Plastic sci-fi jeep, Hummer or SUV with some customizable options. Something diesel punk and appropriate for the mean streets of the post-apocalypse. There's model kits out there for various MRAPS and armored cars but I'd love something 28mm 'heroic'. And no, this does not count:
Spoiler:
Sci-fi, grim dark, post apocalyptic conversion sprue to turn modern or fantasy figures into sci-fi techno fantasy types. Bionic arms, alternate heads, boxy guns, phallic energy weapons, swords that are also CHAINSAWS, you get the drill.
Cops - a mix of beat cops, riot cops and SWAT, with head options for 'thin blue line' good guys or faceless oppressors.
Terrorists/freedom fighters - The upcoming Warlord modern soldier kit seems to cover some of this but I'd still like a dedicated kit of desperate people with guns and masks. Again there should be head options for both scary bad guys and rag tag good guys.

Ahem... back to things that might genuinely happen, a sci-fi equivalent to the WGF/Warlord Survivors and Soldiers sets. Frostgrave has the Fantasy version covered, but I want to see something more futuristic, plenty of alien heads and arms, fancy weapons, sci-fi jumpsuits and the odd coat that might be painted brown...
Plastic, multi-part Orcs in the LotR style, same for Dwarves and Elves. Preferably true-scaled.
For something a little different, multi-part plastic modular starships. A sprue with all kinds of engines, wings, fuselages, guns, that sort of thing, X-wing kind of scale, would be really fun to play with.

28-32mm historical- better Arabs (i really don't care for the Gripping Beast sets), WW2 Hungarians, WW1 British, some golden age of piracy stuff (privateers/pirates and British/Spanish marines would be aces), Chinese (Boxer Rebellion, Ming dynasty, and the Sino-Russian war.)
15mm historical- WW2 Hungarians and japanese, WW1 British and French.
28-32mm fantasy/sf- some good mutant kits with a lot of mutation options, nice generic robot kids (that aren't in an anime style), generic townsfolk/city guard/militia.

I'll second this, as well.

New Chaos Space Marines kits. The existing ones are pretty dated.
Plastic, multi-part Chaos Space Marines Chosen that look like the Dark Vengeance models.
All of those, plus:
HMMWV with variants from '80's to current.
'80's style Cold War US/UK/Soviet/Warsaw Pact "moderns" troops
Modern (current) 2nd and 3rd World military (crossover with 80's models, lots of AKs, etc.)
Winter (Ostfront/Bulge) Germans
Winter (Bulge) US troops
WW2 Finns
Mandorallen turned back toward the insolently sneering baron. 'My Lord,' The great knight said distantly, 'I find thy face apelike and thy form misshapen. Thy beard, moreover, is an offence against decency, resembling more closely the scabrous fur which doth decorate the hinder portion of a mongrel dog than a proper adornment for a human face. Is it possibly that thy mother, seized by some wild lechery, did dally at some time past with a randy goat?' - Mimbrate Knight Protector Mandorallen.

Generic plastic elves without skirts or tall pointy helms. More like Legolas, or the GW Shadow Elves minus the BDSM thigh high boots. Or better yet, get Tre Manor and Red Box Games to do his Aelfar in plastic. NO ONE makes a decent, up to date elf option. There are plenty of dwarves and orcs out there.
Orcs that look like the Angus McBride Orcs.
Dwarves like the GWLOTR dwarves and not fat little drunks.
Ogres that don't have belly plates.
Kobolds and gnomes. They are small, do both at once!
Lastly, make them all in 28mm true scale and not heroic scale. Match them up with the Perry's or Gripping Beast or Warlord/WGF figures.

Some more wish list items, in case anyone is watching...
The big one - Sci-Fi light infantry, I know there's tons out there including GW's Cadians, WGF's Greatcoats, MEdge's contractors, Mantic's Enforcers... But none of them look quite right to me. The closest to what I imagine are 2nd edition metal Cadians, reasonable armor, equipment and supplies but with more updated weapons and sensor/communications. Something like the classic Colonial Marines from Aliens.
Spoiler:
Add in some recon hover drones and you have something credible for the next 50 years of war.
Sci fi Cannon Fodder - related but a bit different, this would be a dead simple kit of nothing but bodies with rifles and separate heads. The goal being to squeeze as many bodies onto a sprue as possible. Some historical kits can fit 14 or more bodies on a sprue. Certainly the same can be done in sci fi and still have room for a commander body, a special weapon and some other bits of flair.
Spoiler:
Sci-fi Wasteland/street Gangs - A combination of 2 decades of cliches, mohawks, spikey shoulderpads and industrial cybernetics from the 80s, and mirror shades and chrome from the 90s. A kit equally at home in the post-atomic wastes of Australia and the neon-lit mean streets of Mega-Neo-Cyber-Tokyo
Spoiler:
Stowage - Nothing sexy here but just backpacks and boxes and crates and supplies. Both for minis and for tanks. Yeah there's plenty of Tamiya and Italiari kits out there but not really for wargaming.
Spoiler:
Y'know
Stuff
Sewer Mutants - Another cliche, but a good one. Rags, bandages, fangs, tumors armed with shivs and zip guns and maybe a toxic waste thrower. Some scary cannibals to crawl up from the poisoned sewers of Mega New York or the sun blasted wastes of Tox Vegas.
Spoiler:
(turns out Troll Forged already makes them, but not in plastic!)
Sci fi Civilians - jackets, cargo pants, boiler suits, space suits, spandex. Some rubber mask type alien heads. Blasters, bionics, hand scanners and communicators (that are somehow less advanced than our tablets ) just the thing for your star ship crew or space port cantina.
Spoiler:
Ninjas/Gymnasts/Martial Artists - a kit to test what can be done with plastics. I see ball joints at the shoulders and hips for maximum flexibility!
Spoiler:
Like this
Only more so!

My wishlist? Lesser known fantasy races that don't usually get plastics.
Hobgoblins, Kobolds, and Bugbears are something I'd love to see in plastic, especially typical D&D types.
The other (obvious thing) I would like to see are more reptiles. Non Meso- American please!
Some sort of Dragonborn/ Dragonkin/ Draconid/ Dragonpeople kit? Just about all the major RPGs have a dragonoid race, be they heroes or villains. Why not make a kit of them? You can have a body type specifically designed for a dragonlike head, spots for wings and tails... give a couple of different clothing options so you can build one in robes/ light/ heavy armor... I dunno.
It's a wishlist after all, right?
Poorly lit photos of my ever- growing collection of completely unrelated models!
Oh no. Elves need a good manly skirt. Or at least a decent hauberk. Kind of agree with you about the pointy helms vs. the shadow warriors/dreadspears look, though.

Skirts on a woodland race make no sense. And I want elves that don't look like GW elves.

A complete redesign of the Space Marines to represent the background and size conventions of the game we have at the moment. Make them much taller, like, a head-and-a-half. Keep the aesthetics, only make the armour a bit more gothic. I wouldn't mind more monopose, as long as multipart to cast the right shapes and not force us into static purity seal placements.
Then obviously change the stats to have them be able to be 15 against 100 and win.
