Hey guys

I mainly collect and paint Eldar, but wanted something totally different so I could practice other skills.

I love converting, I love Blanchitsu (for being so grimdark rather than GW studio cartoony) and I love weathering. I also wanted something really quick to paint. Nurgle was the obvious fit.

Here's somethng I finished yesterday... out of the dark they came... but I can't help thinking 'Master Blaster', ha.

I love Nurgle myself too and your two models look just the part! Great grimdark colors, although it is missing the usual Nurgle entrails and slime you can still clearly tell which god they worship.

Amazing work, keep it up!

Here we go

I feel like the lamp he carries is made from the head of the previous icon bearer...

I always try to find ways to include my favourite sculpts into my collections, irrespective which faction they were originally intended for. The Castellan has always been one of my favourite Foregworld models and he fits right into a 40k chaos cult, full of mutants and xenos. That gnarled face is incredible.

Thanks guys!

Here's the unit leader who I painted a while ago... I've noticed my Nurgle force is getting more grimdark and less cartoony as I go along...

Here's another one - I bought the FW Apostate preachers because I always loved the other dude in the set, but after painting I decided I actually like this guy much better.

He's so creepy!

Cool, is the head of the hammer part of a resin sprue?

Well done my corpulent brother! Subbed!

I am now accepting commissions for any hobby project! I've been in the hobby since '92. Specializing in traditional brush methods, creating a gritty dark aesthetic. From single character models to entire armies. From individual terrain pieces to entire table tops. From tabletop level to masterclass level painting. From purchasing and assembly to leveling up your assembled armies paint job. If it has to do with the hobby I can do it! Hit me up and let's chat about your project!

Nice use of the resin sprue for the hammer, excellent idea.

Haha, yes that is resin sprue for the hammer!

I figured he's just picked up a temporary sign from a construction site or something - metal bar embedded in a lump of concrete does the bludgeoning job quite nicely!

The pallete used on thee apostates is very disgusting, well played.

And this is how he ended up:

Looking back, I would now do the blood much differently than this. It's too purple and applied in more of a blob than a spray. GW's 'Blood for the blood god' technical paint is actually really good (especially when applied by blowing sharply through a plastic biro pen outer tube, held about 5mm from a brush loaded with paint, in turn held about 5mm away from the weapon impact point / blade... hold further away from the model for broader spray like up an arm or across the armour).

Here's my Helbrute, painted a few years ago now. I made some minor conversions using green stuff otherwise he's the standard DV kit:

Looks good, never seen a walker with a beer belly before! Really like the green horns, they really suit the scheme.

Minor critique, the resin block on the base you should've taken a knife to it and lopped some bits off and added some scratches and bullet holes with a hobby drill. It looks a bit pristine currently even with the washes and weathering.

Great Helbrute and Nurgle Campion conversion.

Your painting and converting has always been top notch.

Thanks as always guys, much appreciated.

EDC yeah, I know what you mean. Normally I would have paid it more attention but this is supposed to be my 'cheap and nasty' project! The one where I get the desired results as quickly as possible... total opposite to my painstakingly slow, crisp & clean Eldar.

Hence the 'painting with inks' method on a lot of the cloth, weathering everywhere to save on the neatness & highlighting etc.

I just got a bit carried away and it became more of a conversion parlour

Anyway I found another picture of the 'brute alongside a few more cultists from DV.

Fantastic looking models, Aryllon! The castellan is my favourite and is indeed very Blanchistu. The fact that your Nurgle warband is not slime & entrails everywhere is extremely unique - and I like it. Your use of corpulence definitely exudes that Nurgle vibe despite the lack of guts. Consider me subscribed!

Then suddenly I saw it. With only a slight churning to mark its rise to the surface, the thing slid into view above the dark waters. Vast, Polyphemus-like, and loathsome, it darted like a stupendous monster of nightmares to the monolith, about which it flung its gigantic scaly arms, the while it bowed its hideous head and gave vent to certain measured sounds. I think I went mad then.

Yeah they look great together. Really nice (a term I use loosely for Nurgle related stuff) palette of colours.

That is an amazing hellbrute, the darker green on the horns is especiall magnificient. Sick looking cultists too.
