Having a tourney at the end of the Month. Using Book missions and 2 hour long games with 2000 points, so I'm not expecting games to finish.
Here is a list that I'm going to try. Thoughts on tweaking it for the conditions of the tourney.
NIHILAKH Battalion (reroll 1's if didn't move)
Cryptek w/ Chronometron
Cryptek w/ Chronometron
5 Tesla Immortals
20 Warriors
20 Warriros
Doomsday Ark
Doomsday Ark
NOVOKH Outrider
Destroyer Lord (warlord... Crimson Haze (units within 6 generate additional attacks on a 6), warscythe, Phylactery and Nanoscarab Casket
Deceiver
9 Scarabs
9 Scarabs
9 Scarabs
3 destroyers

Destroyers are the best unit necrons have. Max the unit. Novokh is next to useless for destroyers, use nephrekh to deepstrike them, or sautekh to let them still after advancing. Use an overlord instead of a cryptek.

Why? Please explain your reasoning, particularly with games only making it to turn 3 in mind. I’m looking more for than just with the most Optimal all units are.

Why what ? Why destroyers are the best units ? Because of extermination protocols. Why max units ? Because they are harder to wipe out, giving you a better chance to reanimate. Why an overlord ? Because of MWBD.

You seem to miss the point of the list and the rules of the event. This isn’t ITC...I dont actually care about killing things. This is my version of the Ork horde list that won Wargames Con(?) by controlling the board and not making it past turn 3. WWBD isn’t going to help my warriors or Immortals chilling on objectives, but an invulnerable save and improved rp will. It won’t help my Scarabs or Destroyers because they would be out of range.
While I would love to gave destroyer wing, but I only have 3 complete destroyers.
Nepherehk makes sense though. I could make that my Battalion and move the destroyers there. Thank you, p5freak.

Are you so sure you don't make past turn 3? Albeit 1.5k list but today I played 3 games. 5, 6 and 4(wipeouted GK) with 243 model ork horde. Thing is we finished it always about hour or more...
Unless you are deliberately slowplaying...

I'm relatively sure that games will be slow. We aren't in an area where there is a lot of events so I doubt that people are prepared to complete most of their games in an hour (one hour per person). That kind of training would be very rare and out of character for the people attending. Odds are I won't be the only person playing slowly. I will also have a lot of models and positioning will be critical in my play.

If your goal is surviving, use nihilakh wraith, put them near an objective marker, and play reclaim a lost empire on them, giving them a 2+ inv sv. And because you play the stratagem at the end of your turn you are not limited to the one time per phase rule.

A 2000 pt game in 2 hours is ambitious.
I second pfreak's comment about more Destroyers.
One of the best units in the game.
I'd take a more compact army, say Warriors or Immortals in Night Scythes, Destroyers, DDAs, and Tomb Blades.

Well seems his entire strategy hangs on slowplaying it so that it doesn't GO full game...More compact army goes against that.

We know the slow-playing syndrome here especially at tourneys. Its annoying like hell.
Even with small armies there are players who play slowly. Have a tray of dice. Pack in the dice into the tray after each roll.

I'm a firm believer in the Ghost Ark, Cryptek with Cronometron, and the Warlord trait Immortal Pride when making board control lists based around large blocks of warriors. Further, the Nihilakh Dynastic Code and its strategem Reclaim the Lost Empire are invaluable. If you're playing to be an immovable object, then this is the way to go
What you gain for your warrior blocks:
Immune to morale
4+ RP, twice!
Strategem to make warriors save 3+/4+

This is indeed one possibility to play Necrons at the competitive level:
Large blocks of Warriors with the right buffs.
