Currently looking at this for a tournament coming up this month. Made a few different decisions than normal as thought with the CA coming around the corner why not.

Probably first thing you notice is there is no destroyers. This is mainly down the the fact they cant come in turn 1 as a defensive unit from reserves and if they are on the board turn one, they will get shot down.

The Command barge is going to be my methodical destruction activator, because of his speed and durability, the plan is for him to make the first shots on anything the doomsdays or vault want to shoot at and ensure they hit. Feel like he is a more expensive version of the tau's marker lights, but at least it is a form of a marker light for +1 to hit.

Destroyer lord is here because i been testing him out in smaller games and doubles, and he has just been a distraction which chews gum and takes names. with two ways to come back alive, and able to tie heavy shooting units up with little to no risk. he has become one my favorite units for messing with peoples strategies.

I decided upon the wraiths, as with how survivable the rest of the army was, i needed a unit to match them. feel with how much of a bullet magnet both the vault and wraiths are, the doomsdays will survive a lot longer. And if the wraiths get ignored, cause true carnage in the back of the board.

Main thing im debating about at the moment is the warlord trait and the powers for the vault. Because of no deceiver, i am currently against cosmic fire. Was a tough call between sky of falling stars and transdimensional thunderbolt. Decided the thunderbolt would be more effective through out the game, than the sky of falling stars.
Though currently thinking Hyperlogical strategist for warlord trait, as even though I cant get more than one back a turn. That will still be better than nothing. and a free reroll on my markerlight command barge is always welcome

Any thoughts would be welcome

As for warlord trait: Command Barge warlords love Enduring Will. You check to negate the whole amount via QS before taking the reduced wound amount. And of course there is always the BRB Feel no pain trait, trying to negate any of the damage that does get through.

To be fair, Enduring Will is not a bad idea, will defiantly give it some thought. Though think the feel no pain trait just doesn't cut it compared to enduring will.

I included the feel no pain only because last time I ran a CCB warlord, it died from many 1 damage melee swings that neither QS or EW could help with.

Yea that's fair, though as aiming to keep him as a shooting lord, shouldn't be shot that much by 1 damage stuff.

Any other views for ctan powers?

Looking at stratagems,

1 for relic
maybe 1 for wraiths charge,
4 for Sautekh strat
1 for full wounds on unit
1 for Q/S buff

and im already out. The Sautekh trait would prob give two back which would give options. which have to wonder if its better to have them than a more survivable warlord.

So, this list preformed badly.

Ignoring the bad rolling i did, i feel the army was too predictable on my moves and game plan that the opponents could deal with the problems effectively.

Game one vs Eldar/yanari - Expected to lose this one. though didnt get tabled, so thats a plus. though vault blew up turn one, and did 6 mortal wounds to both characters. so knew how my luck was going this weekend.

Game two vs Nids - Was a lot of warrior spam and carnafex's. ended on turn 5 with a narrow win for me, though feel if it went any longer, It would of been a lot clearer victory.

Game three vs Nids - 100 genstealers was scary. Though the list is very good against hoards. managed to kill almost everything by turn 3. and was one model off tabling on turn 6. So was a firm victory

Game four vs Knights and death guard - This was a fairly close game. was fun but certain tanks refused to die over several turns. Was a minor loss, but was happy as was a fun game.

Game five vs knights and admech - This just didn't go my way, and dont feel anything could of done better apart from rolling better. though was at the end of the weekend so was fairly drained.

Got a new list in my head as a result of this. and will aim to be testing it out asap

Well, three Doomsday Arks and one Vault give you too less ground control.
I've seen a Necron vs. Necron battle at the weekend (1850 pts). One list was purely infantry and won the objective based game vs. a list with two flyers and one Barge.

How many more bodies can you jam in if you drop 1 ark? maybe try to swap 1 immortal unit for a warrior blob to get in the way and be hard to remove.

The ironic thing is, the only game where i needed something in the way, the wraiths protected me nicely and then also threw a counter attack. where warriors will just die easily.

The bonus of small units of immortals is they can easily hide out of los if needed and 2+ sv when camping on an objective in cover
