Greeting, Hobbyists!

As you may know, we're in the middle of re-inventing the League of Extraordinary Riveters' Hobby Challenge into a less competitive, more predictable, less daunting, and more accommodating enterprise. In lieu of knowing what I'm doing or exactly what is called for, here's my first attempt at a community showcase and review thread. All ideas and suggestions for structure are welcome, as are comments about the work itself.

We decided that a standing two-month cycle was most appropriate, and we chose our inaugural theme by poll, with the result of "crossings" as follows:
CROSSINGS: Your build should relate to crossings or transitions in some way; bridges and spans, portals and gateways, docks and landing pads, things that must be crossed like water, lava, etc... anything that connects two points.

I've also included a choose-all-that-impress poll just to generate some data (we may grow into some sort of running League tally). Just mark any entries that you feel deserve a shout-out, either for close adherence to the theme, innovative or ambitious design, careful crafting on the build and paint, and overall impression.

Without further delay, here are this cycle's entrants in submission order, with additional images in spoilers.

Thanks for running it and congratulations to everyone on some great entries (I'm including those that didn't get to finish either, there were some great ones coming along!)

*cough* I do seem to be missing from the voting options though... :(

A lot of good stuff from everyone. I am also happy to see that we had quite a few submissions for the challenge. Hopefully it grows from here.

@Mothsniper, I still really like the application for your project. If possible can we get updates on how your tank is doing from time to time?

So far the terrain and trees are getting the mold blooms or white slime. From my research it is mold and it is not harmful to fish and I can just let it cycle it self out.

Its this

Smaller pool makes it less intimidating to comment on everyone.

TheCrow: I really like the portal and the flames. It all comes together in a great piece. Needs some cultists, or some sort of eldritch horror coming through, but that’s for when it’s in use.

boringstuff: Love the rust work and weathering. Makes it look very real.

Mothsniper: We sometimes see our hobby poach aquarium supplies, nice to see you giving back. I’m sure the fish will love their cover save.

endtransmission: I’ve got a pile of hexes kicking around that I kept telling myself I was going to use to do something like this someday. You did a great job. One thing that stood out is the dirt crossing doesn’t have any way for the water to flow across it. From a game-play POV it’s good to have an option not the bridge, but I think a rocky ford, or having a few streams of water break through it would have helped keep the look of a river.

Peterhausenn: I like all the stuff in the water. Gives it a lot of character.

Llamahead: Nice use of sprue. You’ve got a lot of colors and textures, makes it look like cobbled together scrap, in a good way.

MacPhail: The ruins are great. My one complaint is that they don’t seem very ruined. They might be old, but time didn’t bring them down. Maybe the local villagers snuck in and stole stones for their houses, but they are not crumbling ruins, which is normally what we see. I feel that scattering around a few broken blocks and rubble would help it feel more like a ruins.

Thanks, I do agree, but didn't have time to redo it once I'd painted it and discovered the issue. You just have to consider that it's near the sea and the river has low tide
