I downloaded it from Gamespot, where I registered for free a bit ago. Not too much to go through to get a pretty cool demo - Tau are NUTTY powerful shooting, and Kroot are fantastically cool, even if you can't get the Krootox or Gnarloc on the demo ...

Wow, Skyrays ftw.

Get a group of 4 skyrays and use that multiple launch abilityand you can take out multiple squads at once. Not to mention how good the Skyrays are normally.

Is that a new thing, the librarian killing an entire squad with one explody psychic power? Not a big fan ... but when you can kill characters with 1-2 volleys from fire warriors, I'm sure I can deal with it

Really dig the demo myself. Kinda odd that a Firewarrior squad can only go to 6 men but still. From what I can see, the Tau rock but still require mixed unit tactics to win which is as it should be. Can't wait to try out the Bots.

I loved the krrot hounds. So nasty in close combat getting 2 full squads ripping apart everything. The skyray missile launch was pretty cool. Only complaint was I could not find any form of turrets with Tau just the upgrades for the requisition points. I like how you have to choose to go either with Tau for advanced units or Kroot but not both.

Also tau don't seem to have any defencive buildings....

and also mission 2 gives you a taste of wha tthe missions in Dark crusade will be like for all sides

You can download from file planet WITHOUT being a member.  Just scroll down to the bottom of the server download list and pick from a waitlist server.

you usually need to way about 30 minutes.  So fire up to download before dinner or someting.  By the time you get back, it's ready. 

Are there necrons in this demo? Only I have found only Blood Ravens to shoot at so far

I think the demo only showcases the Tau. What also looks cool is the little teaser screen shot at the end of the demo showing off the map based campaign.
