Wow, GW sure as hell weren't kidding when they meant limited edition! I didn't think it'd go store exclusive so fast since Space Hulk isn't even supposed to be out yet.

And in this case, GW AMERICA ---- feth YEA!

Well, mine arrived just now and I'm suitably impressed with the quality of it all; especially because some bright spark at HQ thought of actually including some zip lock bags in the box for all the counters

Also... the size pictures for the brood lord do not do it's size justice... it's HUGE

US trade sales had a few more available, and since no one else was grabbing them, I took another 60.

Mine arrived today Woohoo!

I have a question for those who have received their copy or have seen models in store.

Most of the terminators that came in my set appear to be missing minor details on the "crux terminatus" that appear on the left shoulders.

Sorry, I can't post pics at the moment as my camera is not so good with close up detail.

Is anyone else seeing this, or did I get an iffy mould?

what do you mean by "Minor Details"

The biggest issue I see in the weeks ahead are for people who through GW mistake don't receive their copy or who receive it with damaged or missing components. Simply put now sold out GW won't be able to replace anything.

More boxes weigh more tons.

I see what the problem with the Curx Terminatus's is... the ridges of the cruciform are missing on the up and down bits where most of the figures have a mold seam... it won't be too tough to cheat and add those lines back in with paint tho, but those sculpted details are missing bc/ of the molding process.

Maybe for the stuff they had to outsource to get like the tiles and rulebooks but model-wise I'm sure they'd be able to replace those parts with relative ease although they do have a lot of Sh orders to fulfill.

GW will have kept a stock of spare parts to fulfill complaints and damaged copies.

If they are well organised and capable (HA HA HA) their QA department tracks the failure rate on production and deliveries and will have been able to predict the expected number of returns.

Hey, has anyone posted a summary of the differences (gameplay differences, not just the awesomeness of the minis) between this edition and the old one? I scanned this thread, and found no comprehensive list. Is there one that I missed, or might anyone know of a blog where it's reviewed and compared to the old version?

TIA!

Huzzah! Praise be to the Emperor! Mine has arrived.

I now await the "why did you buy this?" conversation with my parents when I drive over to their place to pick it up.

BAH!!!!!!!!! The FedEx truck broke down! No Space Hulk for me and hours wasted waiting at the PO for it. I knew that if GW sent early, FedEx would make sure it was late.

I still haven't received mine, and checking on the GW site reveals a 'tracking number' that really doesn't look like one.

At least the status says "dispatched" though...

OK, model follow-up... the gap observed on the Sarge w/ the cloak is just about 100% preventable during assembly... a little plastic cement and a good tight press makes it go away. The models FALL together and are really easy to clean up... I've got all the Imperial minis assembled, but wont get to painting until Monday.

This game just seems like it would get boring after a few times. how do you play? What is the point?

You often play by switching sides and seeing if the other person could have done better in the same mission.

The Space Marine player controls his Terminators actions, as I recall from earlier versions, via a number of actions: each Terminator gets a number of action points (4 in earlier version, with extra command points for bonus actions) and these correspond to actions like a 90 turn, moving one square, shooting 2D6 with a Stormbolter, unjamming a Stormbolter, attacking in close combat, going into overwatch, etc. Usually the Terminators had to get across the board, escort a little robot across the board, get to a certain room and perform an action, and so on.

The Genestealers, on the other hand, could constantly recycle, and mostly floated around the board as a series of blip tokens. When these blip tokens were seen by Terminators, they were flipped over and converted into a number of Genestealers. Sometimes the blips were dummies. The Genestealers had more action points (6?) and the Genestealer player didn't have a time limit to get all their actions done.

I think the time limit really made the game, because you'd be sweating and shaky part-way through the game as you fought to both act and make the right decision in the face of stuff like your Stormbolter jamming at the wrong time, or being caught out of position by flanking Genestealers in the narrow corridors. It has quite strong replay value.

Ok, got it. The box is very heavy. The box it game in lists 4kg. Love the models. Rulebooks are very thin, and the extreme lack of missions is annoying, but otherwise everything looks sweet. All the cardboard and other things are shrink-wrapped inside the box. Very cool.

Will play around with it later.

And my timer lasts for 3 minutes. YAY!

And you get ziplock bags for all the counters!
