Nice killbots. Do you have a handler for them? They are counts-as Ogryn, right? My recollection of the old fluff was that they often had commissars attached to them, to keep them motivated and pointed in the right direction. And robots needed an engenseer to field. Now I’m not up on what it currently takes to field them, or what is decent, but it seems they could use a human guy tagging along. What flavor could vary from a mechanics POV.

Priest to give them hatred, other CC buffs.
Commisar to make them fearless. So you need to cut through all those tough wounds to make them go away.
Psycher for buffs

But whatever you use, there should be a guy with a dataslate and a big wrench tagging along, keeping an eye on the big guys.

Although I’m sure if left unattended, they wouldn't malfunction and just start killing all the weak fleshy bits nearby. That sort of thing hardly ever happens...

Handler you say?

Say hello to my little friend. Round here we call it the Ogryn Bomb. CHARGE!!!!!!11!! He's slated for after the current armour I'm doing. Any of the the IG support characters would be great in this unit (as you say) and I've at least one of each so, points allowing, I can add who I fancy. There used to be a rule which prevented Priests from affecting Ogs with their stuff but that's gone (powercreep). I do like the idea of an attendant engineer and the rules for a Priest would work well (fearless, hatred, possible hymn buffs and an almost fanatical devotion to the Pope, I'll come in again). Please don't encourage me to make more stuff. As to Robot Rampages, at least 60% of the time they never go on a killing rampage.

Randy,

Your primarch is coming back. Are you ready?

The secret to painting a really big army is to keep at it. You can't reach your destination if you never take any steps.

I build IG...lots and lots of IG.

Yes it's nuts, don't know if it's some glitch or dodgy batch? Here's a pic of the tank you gave me, I missed lots of tiny bits when spray undercoating so have filled in the gaps with the Vallejo...

It now looks like Knight Rider's Kit or something.

JB wrote:Randy,

How can you be ready for that, it was pretty shocking. They do say don't meet your heroes though don't they. Especially when they look a bit like Joffry. Fortunately there appears to be a Helmeted version.

Bit of progress on this too..basecoated..

And now washed...might squeeze a bit in today..

Hello subscriber. Things have been tricky again so painting has been a bit out the window. Got to move so that really throws the Bloodletter amongst the grots. Still here's a tiny update..

More on the Hydra (Ramshackle counts as).

Track units getting mucky, my Stirland Mud has pretty much dried out, bleh. You can see inside the largest road wheel the string of letters etc that was inside what I assume to be a drinks lid, next time scrub these out Curtis. I only really noticed them at this stage and didn't fancy chipping chunks of resin out.....

Platform, nearly done with chipping and muddy bits..

Business end.

This is pretty much finished now, will post up the 'done' shots soon.

Thanks! Yeah it was odd trying to make myself do it again. Still finding it strange but do have some impetus to do it. I think the impending 8th might be having an effect too. The surprising amount of similarity to AoS is a bit of a worry but I still remain cautiously optimistic.

Finished!

Pew Pew!

Did a small amount of detailing but couldn't be bothered to go nuts as I doubt this will be a major use unit.

Mucky bits with increasingly annoying letters inside the big road wheel...

Quite happy with it. Note added crewman with controller and spare ammo hopper.

I've continued on a bit too with my next project, finishing off the new Russ. More on that soon.

Thanks! Yes I like their stuff too, often very reasonably priced and he tends to chuck in handfuls of free stuff, the whole AA gun there was a freebie due to another order being late, I only bought the track unit.

Looks good in the altogether.
What was the solution for the HB/HF and pintle stubber or bolter?
Are you just going to put a guy on the front Governor Jesse the Body Venturaing a la Predator?

Yes I did bluetack a few iterations of this sort of stuff but I couldn't make it look ok, the gun looked too big on the pintle and I tried a bipod as well but the HB looked wrong. So we'll just have to pretend.

Here's some more stuff, this time LRBT flavour.

Painted a blue stripe on the side, needed a lie down after this one.

Wrote some things on it. This tank is supposed to be the bodyguard tank required when picking a Tank Commander as a HQ choice, hence the HQ seen here. SCIENCE. It now occurs to me that the new Age of Emprah version of the Codex will now almost certainly no longer require this.

Chipping applied with a sponge, looks nicer and it quicker than dry/wet brushing it on.

Hull is going on too, not just painting the turret.

Has new keyboard, yay.

Other side of hull. Called it 'Duchess' as the tank it's supposed to catch bullets for is called 'Duke'. It's also Archer's codename and I love him.

Slightly pointless out of focus pic to show chipping..damage to hull is where I pulled off some crap the previous (not very careful) owner had stuck on. The thick paint applied around it left a depression right where I write the regiments name. I left it as is and made it look like battle damage instead of fixing it as easier and more interesting.

Well that's caught me up. More soon.

Bit more of tankness in unnecessary detail:

Applied dry(ish) brushed browns in two tones..

Then two layers of inks as well...

Same process on the hull..

Both sides shockingly..the detailing/weathering looks a bit more obvious in the next round of shots BTW.

So that's it pretty much done I've a final round of glamour shots to post up next and will stick that up soon. I've started painting my Yarrick (not code/euphemism honest) and am struggling with it a bit for various reasons..bleh, will start the coverage of that next once I've shown off the final tank pics...

Thanks for looking, leave a comment or you are letting Chaos win.

Thanks! Now that I've finished all my vehicles (as much as that happens) I've finally got the 'recipe' down on these last 2, now I just need to go back and apply it to the previous 18...

I will start uploading some Yarrick pics soon, I'm stuck in with my little boy who is proper feverish so I'm not going anywhere today.

Hello, here is some preliminary Yarrick..

First I sundered this cork with nought but a mighty blow from my hand..

Then added Yarrick...

Seen here. I did a tiny conversion as well, the astute viewer will have noticed his scabbard missing. I have moved this round the back and GS in the gaps. This makes him look a lot slimmer as, lets face it, none of us are 18 anymore. The handle of said sword can be seen behind his pincer cable. I obviously cut off his basing tab and pinned both feet.

Undercoated in super shiny Vallejo black, yay, bondage Yarrick. That's it for now.

More of old crab hand...

Laying down the first coat of base colours...this will be the scheme..I thought a lot about the claw and what colour to paint it. I toyed with the idea of doing it in dark green to tie into that colour I've used for all the weapon casings etc and it's a bit orky and then a sort of blue/white urban camo a lot of ork vehicles used to favour. I decided against it all and will leave it black, the old Yarrick had a lovely glowing red one and I like how the black will conversely draw less attention. As great as this Brian Nelson sculpt is the pincer is a bit daft (how does he even hold it up? That's what she said) so leaving it in the background is probably best.

The super shiny black was pissing me off too, I washed it with Nuln Oil which I thought would matte black it nicely just looked oddly patchy..

In another attempt to make it look good I washed the black cloth with a thinned Vallejo black, this somehow was just as shiny as the solid paint, I did a pass at highlighting it seen here. A general light black wash was applied to the other areas too.

More soon, it does start looking better I promise. What do people think of the drip feed of 8th ed? Still managing to be cautiously optimistic here, lots of things I'm looking forward to dying off. Still early days yet but I look forward to getting locked in a room to absorb the new IG and SM Codices/pamphlets.
