That woodland is downstream as there is a waterwheel just after the little jetty. Not sure I'd want a jetty after the wheel

In my head this is effectively a clearing in the woods, where the villagers are slowly chewing their way into the trees and the beastmen that dwell deep in there are getting closer...

I think it needs redrawing though as the roads get a bit too narrow for a coach from the inn (bottom left) to get through

Enjoying that map! What crops are grown nearby? Do they rotate? Or is it livestock? Really like the necromancer btw.

I have no idea... yet! This was just a first attempt at drawing the various parts of a settlement. My main lesson is I was drawing at too small a scale so it was really hard to put textures into the images. I need to make things a little larger next time around.

Given that there's still time on the LoER timeline, I figured there is time to add some more swamp tiles to the mix so the reading spot doesn't look quite so out of place on the table

This is a bit of an experiment for rivers and ponds going forwards as I need to add water to the board at some point as I really want a bridge soon. Tomorrow I get 12 hours of painting time while I watch/listen to an online festival, so it's going to be interesting to see what I manage to blitz through

As I mentioned the other day, saturday was a 12 hour online music festival to replace one I go to every year. I managed to get a surprising amount done in those 12 hours...

6 Flayers/vargheists were completed, which is the last of my Flesh Eater court! I now actually have a *completed* army! I'll try and get a full group photo during the week as it is pleasing to see

We have Gotrek, though looking at the photo I can now see some bits that I've missed, so he may get some touch-ups

We have the mage from Cursed City as the first hero from that set to be completed (some of the colours havn't come out brilliantly as it was a quick and dirty photo shoot earlier!)

The Vargskyr from Cursed City can now join the Vampire army that is slowly building up as well

and then I did one or two bits of terrain... yes, all of that was painted from scratch, or in the case of the bits just above, finished, in the one day. The only two tiles that weren't done are the original tile for LoER and the rock. There are a bunch of other tiles that were made, but not painted as they needed to dry... but I'm almost at 2x2 ft of swamps!

I think I need to do some brainstorming though as it feels a bit overkill to submit an entire mini board when only one of the tiles has books on it. Can anyone think of swamps from fantasy books?

After much umming and ahhing since it came out, I finally caved…

Just after taking the photo Wolverine turned up as well. I have to say, while some of the parts are ever so small, it was nice to get some spares of some. Just glad I didn’t drop one of Ms Marcel’s upper arms though… those things are tiny!

Tomorrow I need to clean out my 3D printer and replace the resin to print a neat addition to this set

This deviation is not helping me put paint the mega gargant I bought to go with the vamps…

Just think how small the parts would have been if it was in a real scale like 28mm or 32mm and not ginormus 40mm.

I found someone made Red Skull’s hand with cosmic cube as an stl for led shenanigans. I have some transparent blue resin which is crying out to be used. I don’t think I will got for the led though. I am a little sad that Spider-man isn’t an avenger option as he has been quite a few times. There is also no secret/New Avengers despite most of them being available. [update] I guess the Defenders is basically the Secret/New team anyway. I am also waiting for a Jamie Madox that can ignore the 1 per team limit

Well, I take your point about Spidey by remember you only need half your team to be from a faction to benefit from the leader bonus.

True, I guess the main Avengers and Defender blocks play most of the side teams I'd be interested in currently.

The first three figures from MCP got finished over lunch today, with Wolverine not too far behind.

I was put off this for a while due to the larger size figures and talk of the overly fiddly figures. I'm glad I did give it a try though as these are really nice characters to paint, without the worry of having to paint loads the same to fit into an army or theme. Contrast does a wonderful job on these as the detail is nice and crisp, with some additional highlights/shadows adding in at the right points.

Kind of wish I'd jumped in earlier so there wasn't quite so much catch-up to play. This is definitely one to only buy a few at a time, paint up and then buy the next lot as I'm not really in it for the game... yet.

I was borderline doing him in an X-Force costume to go with the X-force (black/grey) wolverine that I'm currently painting, but decided on more traditional colours for him.

My favourite Sabretooth though is the Age of Apocalypse one where he's one of the good guys. Sadly too different from this outfit to just do the colours though.

You know how I said no more CP until this lot have been painted? Yeah that didn't last... BoardinBrum.co.uk have put some sets on sale for an extra discount on top of their already discounted prices... mostly ones I'm not all that interested in at the moment (Inhumans/Mr Whineypants-Cyclops and Magneto) but they have also have Amazing Spiderman/Black Cat and Luke Cage/Iron Fist; both of whom were next on the purchase list anyway... so it'd be rude not to

Oh, I tried photographing the next batch last night and they are coming out terribly on camera, despite looking fine in person... so they are all coming back to the painting table for some cleanup. Basically the blues are all looking quite grainy on camera so I need to work out how to fix that

A fair bit of work has been done to the swamp board as well as tidying up some of the MCP figures, so I'll try and sort that as a proper update over the weekend.

In the mean time, I've just about run out of Vallejo earth texture again and it's getting really expensive to use this stuff for all of the hexes. I want something about the same consistency so it is easy to apply to the tiles, so polyfilla etc. are too thick and come out with a very different texture once dry.

Other than pva and sand (which also doesn't give quite the same effect), has anyone come across any cheaper alternatives to the earth texture please?

In other news, there's a 7TV Fantasy even in February and I may have just volunteered two 3x3 tables... so I really need to focus on printing more hexes for this! Again, this weekend I need to split up what I have and work out how much is left to achieve a 3x3 swamp and a 3x3 graveyard so I'm not taking the village again... though that could be a third one if I rebase the buildings.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
I decided to lay out all of the swamp tiles that I've made over the past couple of months for the LoER challenge and it turns out I've got a 2x2 foot layout of new things that have been printed, cobbled together from spare parts, coffee stirrers and twigs... and then painted. Seems I *can* be productive if I'm not paying attention!

There's a nice long muddy road that goes across one corner of the table (about 9 tiles long!) with a bridge over some swamps

and a broken down cart that was, one would presume, the result of some bandits or orcs ambushing it as it took some goods to market

There's still some final detailing to go into this to soften some of the harder edges in case muddy tiles butt up against grassy ones... and add things like fallen leaves to it all so the grassy tiles aren't quite so... plain... but I'm more than a little impressed.

After laying that out, I decided to see if I needed to make anything else to take it up to a 3x3 board, which is about right for a game of 7TV. Turns out I'm actually ok for swampy/woodlands tiles

I presumed that people would want something other than the village taking as the second board... but apparently people want me to expand that instead of the graveyard, so I need to start working out what I have and what I need to build to make a second 3x3 board. I also need to work out a 40 point Cast too... You know the terrain will all get done and the cast will be a last minute rush job as I keep changing my mind...

Thanks! Sadly, every time I walk past it, I spot another bit that needs tweaking. There are two hexes in there that I forgot to put any flock on at all... so those need fixing before I go back through with leaves. I've also taken a couple of the old foam tiles and moved the contents of them over to the thinner hexes. The earth needs a drybrush and some flock... then these can replace some of the plain grass tiles to make it look more like a woodland.

This morning some friends decided that at some point int he next month or two we're going to do a weekend long Necromunda campaign, so I may need to make a detour from the village into Necromunda terrain for a bit, otherwise the entire campaign will be flat, just using the boards. It'd be nice to get a little bit of height. Then again, tunnels and short firing lines benefit my Genestealers... so maybe I don't want to do terrain...

This afternoon has also been spent fighting with the Ender 3, trying to re-level it after having to replace the entire hotend unit. Last week I had a filament leakage that wiped out the entire head unit, including fans! The new hotend seems to be slightly longer, so everything needs recalibrating.... 3 hours later I *think* it is now printing properly again.

Nope. I spoke too soon. One corner is not sticking at all... *sigh*

I *think* it is fixed now. Not so convinced that I'll leave it running unattended yet though! I had to sacrifice a print and keep adjusting the corners after doing the paper test until it seemed to be sticking. There's still a little bubbling on the first layer or two, but nothing too serious.

While tidying the office, and mulling over Necromunda terrain, I came across a stack of empty filament spools. Ideas are forming...
I also caved and bought the Kill Team box to de-orkify that terrain for Necromunda. This saving money and painting/clearing out stuff is going *really* well :/

You know what else makes things feel better? Finally finishing the green stuff on my ghoul Mega Gargant

I carefully took all of the least armoured parts from the kit; left off almost all of the additional gubbins and just added loads of scars or piercings all over him. The left hand should have lots of armour all over it, but these got left off and the fingers/back of the hand resculpted so it's just got some cloth wrapped around it. Someone has also been digging into his head, presumably to see if a giant without a brain is just as dumb, or if it increases it's intelligence

He'll also have a ghoul riding on his shoulder and some running between his feet as he tramples through a field.

I know as a kit he is expensive.. but dammit he's huge! A Primaris marine only comes up to the top of the cloth around his left ankle!
