Which warcasters benefit most from a devout?  The store owner where I usually game has one to guard Feora, but it has not been much of an impediment to my pounding his army into the ground.  While spell ward is pesky for my Cryx, it is never a game-breaker, and Menoth and Khador don't care much about it as they can trash the devout easily.

I think that the 69 points could be better spent elsewhere.  I've heard that they are pretty much mandatory for Amon, though I don't use him.

My casters are Feora, Kreoss and Sevy.

Sevvy and Kreoss both have antimagic items that make Spellshield not necessary, and both benefit more from an Arc Node anyway.

Reclaimer can smoke to keep shooting at bay.

Amon and the Harbinger NEED to be protected from shooting. Amon is squishy and the harby is a parade fload. Having multiple small jacks makes Amon's synergy more worthwhile which is why they get used. Defensive Strike is handy but not game breaking.

If you don't plan on using either of these casters, the Devout is nice but not necessary. If you want to broaden your horizons to include these two then I'd definately recommend picking one up. I run two with Amon.

The Devout is very focus efficient, getting the benefit of 2 focus for every Defensive Strike. And Menoth/Khador *does* care about it. If they charge in, it gets a defensive strike that can lower their already low MAT 5. That makes it awfully tough to get any hits on the little guy's high DEF. DS is also good to prevent solo strikes (IE they run up/ past him only to get hit and killed/MAT lowered). Infuse makes the Devout pretty nasty.

The Devout is also good for intercepting Pistol Wraith shots against Cryx.

For your casters, Feora would likely get the most use from a Devout (or two) so she can hold more focus and have a nice bodyguard. Sevvy and Kreoss both seem a little better suited to Revenger (arc node) and the Redeemer (Death Sentence, EoM, Knockdown). But a Devout is always useful.

Since I play Cryx I vote no on the devout - it only nullfies 2/3 of my tech, so it isn't like the best bodyguard in the game. Oh wait - it is the best bodyguard in the game. Please don't take it!

The Devout is also the Best defence to Eryiss's Disruption bolt. The Devout is my favorite Light Jack for Menoth and that's no small deed. The Revenger and Redeemer are both Fricking awesome, but the Devout (or two) find there way into most my lists. They totally wreck House with Amon, and the Chior's Infuse will still be in effect for any free or defencive strikes it makes.
