Great grab on the Zoat! I'm thinking about picking up the kit but wasn't sure - excited to see your thoughts and feelings on it, and whether it's worth the addition.

My painting log is full of snakes

Do it, Nev!

This came in. FLGS making it happen. This will disrupt things easily as much as the Limbo Division lassies, with a backside nearly as big.

Still plenty on the go. Thanks for looking!

Awesome! Still waiting to order mine when they get everything I want in stock at the same time!

Slow week, man. Thanks for the comments, guys.

I can't comment on the game value of the Zoat, since I don't own BSF. The price for just the model seems a little steep, but that's GW. Dig the sculpt (there's even gem looking things on the glove), with one small exception, which I have addressed here:

Wasn't too thrilled with the stunted taser they gave him, so I had immediate plans to switch that up. Problem is, my initial replacement was too big, and dated in its sculpt. Didn't mesh. Plan B...I don't own. Thought I did. Have to look into that at some point. So it was digging time, and this is what I came out with. I'm ok with it now. On to the rest of the assembly.

Thanks for looking!

And here he is all together next to a Reiver for scale. Neat, but it wouldn't have killed me to get a smidge more plastic for my 60 clams.

Nostalgia won this round. Thanks for looking.

How does this new guy scale with all your other Zoats? A lot bigger?

Similar profile, but all-around larger. Especially width-wise. The hips, they don't lie.

You know what the say, "one moment on the lips, forever on the hips"... Although do Zoats have lips
Modded weapon looks good and the sculpt in general is really nice. May cave at some point, still haven't played one game of Blackstone Fortress, but he is usable in 40k and should fit perfectly into a Inquisitor retinue
Excited to see you tackle him (her? it?).

Zoat weapon is a great improvement, IMO.

Look forward to seeing him painted!

Thanks for the size comparison. It is noticeably larger, but not by as much as I expected.

The gun conversion has come out really well, cannot wait to see him painted up. Just wish the box was cheaper, I just have no need for the assorted cards, missions etc.

Nice new gun he's got there! Funny to see that scale creep continues, even for models we haven't seen for twenty years.

it's not scale creep, It's a scale condition . Poor beast needs medical attention.

No, it really is silly how models have grown and grown over the years. People want to complain about how bad old sculpts are, but to get those details on the smaller figs, some details got lost.

Thanks, all!

Yes, Viterbi. Perfect for an Inquisitor's retinue. Due to the differences in scale and size, he is destined for the =][=28 shelf. And he will be the first =][=28 model painted, seeing as how the models that started this blog still aren't. One day...

Old sculpts bad? I say! Thankfully, people around here have a healthy appreciation for the classics. Theo, here's some old sculpts in all their small, less-detailed glory.

All set for some dry-brushing and Contrast. We'll see how it goes.

And they have a Cave Troll. Well, he may live in a cave.

Moving along. Thanks for looking!

Zestiest, zaniest, zealousest?

I think I've made my love for old pewter clear at this point but it never hurts to say again; love to see those terminators, thanks for sharing.

Here is a bit more old pewter for you, DQH. Cross-post from your retro thread. Some more old Terminators. A squad of Grey Knights and the rest of RTB09, plus some random Cyclone guy.

Thanks for looking!

If you put those guys and the others on the battlefield, the table better be sturdy I remember having a squad of metal Grey Knights my first time around in this hobby. They were usually the only models left at the end of the game.

Is that because no one was strong enough to lift them? I once lifted the box with a metal thunder hawk in it . That was a workout.

Glad to always see some old codgers getting their time in the sun.

Thats a serious pile of lead! I never got hold of the original cyclone chap, though I think I’ve got the 2nd Ed version somewhere. Jealous seeing Zoaty with an undercoat, and his converted gun looks good. He needs the rest of his paint though!

youwashock,

Some of those Terminators painted in Imperial Fist, Salamanders, and Legion of the Eclipse continue to appear in our games with my group trying to shot up my Guard or Xenos forces.

Thanks, guys.

Slow progress, but chugging along. Finished Mushroom Queen, the Brotherhood squad and the 2nd Reiver. Varnish in progress. Also started working up the Deathwing. Quick process pic for the armor. Base sprays, Nuln wash, drybrush up to near white. Should hopefully go quick.

Great to see the new Zoat in the wild, so to speak. Interesting to see the size comparison. Not sure what size I envisaged it being, but I am surprised somehow!

Nice work on the terminators! I like the look of that Zoat might have to get one for myself

What is the blue stuff you use to mask the terminators arm joints?

Was it difficult fitting that granny grating around the feet?

maxwin, it is just poster putty/blu-tac. And everybody needs a Zoat.

Cap'n, it wasn't a problem. I clipped the base tabs and pinned them back on after laying the grating down.

Thanks for the comments! Got a funk. And a holiday weekend. And a mother-in-law at the house. Trying to shake off all three and get back in it. Pics hopefully soon.

Liking the look of the Deathwing so far youwashock. The paler white will give them a unique look, I take it you’ll have the dark green and bright red still? Good luck shaking the funk and MIL so you can take advantage of the long weekend

Thank you!

gobert, there will certainly be green, but red will probably be for details and accents. Present, but not looking to dive back into the GW GREEN/RED age.

This page needs finished models. Fortunately, I have finally wrapped a few up. First, the next Reiver/Scout.

Three to go. Next, some Brotherhood Troopers from Warzone.

And with the one painted previously, using a different technique. He...sorta...fits...in...

Eh. I can live with it. And last, but certainly not least, the Mushroom Queen. Blasted Reaper.

And a couple WiP pics showing what will hopefully be coming up.

By thunder, that Avatar's gonna get painted one of these days... Also the Contemptor. And...too much other stuff. One mini at a time.

Thanks for looking!
