Ghaz wrote: So far, all codex FAQs have dropped eight days after the codex. We should see the Death Guard FAQ on Sunday and a Cult Mechanicus FAQ on November 1st.
Lets hope they are consistent. The AdMech book needs a FAQ and it isn't even out yet!
What needs FAQing?
Like others have said, points, but upon reviewing the Codex Chaos, Space Marine, Grey Knights FAQs, there were basically zero points changes in the FAQs, so I think it's totally possible that AdMech players will be super let-down by the FAQ which will not really change much.

I wouldn't hold my breath for points adjustments in the errata. If there was going to be a bunch of major changes they certainly would have been in the codex release. I doubt 2 weeks of angry internet discourse is going to tip them over the edge when the last 4 months of discourse didn't.

I think the assumption was that "codexes are already going to printers, no time to change stuff" but that FAQ could be a day 1 (week 1) patch. Looks like less likely!
Plus side: none of us have to buy any electro-priests, kataphrons, Dominuses, ballistarii, or servitors!!!!

Priests are viable. But yeah... The rest, no so much.

Domninii (Dominuses? domina?), ballistari and servitors yeah. but it's still to early to tell for electro-priests and there's a thin ray of hope for kataphrons.
No mention of Ruststalkers makes me sad. They're probably the most outclassed unit. Even with their price cut in HALF they are worse than most infantry options
casvalremdeikun wrote: Rangers need to be cheaper than Vanguards. They have fewer special rules. So if Vanguards get a price reduction, Rangers should as well.
The problem is, vanguard's special rule isn't good enough to justify even an extra point over ranger, and their weapons are about equal. So when vanguard and ranger are the same price, vanguard are better. But rangers costing even a point less makes them he better choice.

The durability per point and firepower per point of Rangers having that innate 12.5% bonus over Vanguard due to costing 8 instead of 9 pushes them way over into being the better unit in my book. I am completely switching to Rangers, and by that I mean I am taking 3x5 Rangers as a screening troop tax.

Agreed.
I've been playing it as "as soon as canticle is rolled" but watched a Tabletop Tactics game last night where they played it as "after all charges are complete".
I suspect I am getting it right but the other option is more useful as you get to plan for being in combat rather than think "well that's useless"

I'm sure this has already been FAQd or it's covered in the standard rules. If it's your turn at the beginning of the round you get to choose when it happens, otherwise your opponent decides when it happens. At least thats how we played it last.

Does anyone have the points changes between index and codex?
I've pilfered anything I could from the video review to be ready for release in BS, but making out the pts in that vid is nigh impossible...
A PM would be appreciated

Choose when it happens as in choose either start or end of your turn/a phase, or choose on a case by case basis, or just choose some random point to do them all (perhaps when some units have moved and others haven't)?

I think someone posted very recently in either this thread or the Tactics thread the points:
In summary, our troops got cheaper which is nice, our Onager Neutron lasers get 3 points cheaper making them now a nice round 140. Second heavy stubber optional if you have 5 points left over at the very end of your list, but I am not taking stubber #2 by default.

Nice, my list got roughly 50 pts cheaper. I might be able to afford an Enginseer with those points, which would net me the ability to move my Onagers into a Spearhead to get me an additional Command Point.
Yeah I suppose that's irrelevant since it's Saturday but I own the Codex, feel free to ask questions. The only point changes were already posted by ph34r.

New fluff for a handful of Forge Worlds, lots of new art, some really beautiful (like the first pages of the Codex you'll see a fight against Tyranids). They go deeper in the fluff for some aspects, like the time line thing they do all the time. I feel there wasn't much fluff in the book but that's just me I guess.

In summary: Very closely aligned with Mars (Called the Right hand of Mars), very good at keeping robots going and crap with plasma weapons. Very fetching colours - howling griffons style look with yellow/red robes divided into quarters.

I had a gander at the normal version today, and some of the artwork in there is absolutely stunning.
Just a bloody shame the Collector's edition became unavailable just 4 days after it went up.
Either they made feth-all copies, or there's an issue they're having to rectify.
