Kitbashing can be quite fun, especially when those sprues sat around for years and are finally useful.

Thanks Meer_Cat! I like the "normal" sisters, but the beefed up works better than I expected.

Thanks youwashock!

And the Dominion squad is finished. Heads are kind of a problem, because the Enforcers have separate necks and you can't leave them off and just use the normal sisters heads. So I have to cut off the armor part of their heads and then neck and head fit not perfectly, but well enough from a distance. As do the storm bolters, avoided green stuff after the first sister and tried several arm combinations. Idiot that I am I forgot to note the parts so I can built the second squad faster
And I'm really happy with the superior, converted an inferno pistol out of a bolt pistol and the front of a melta.

Retributor squad is also progressing nicely, "only" the weapons and heads to do:

And after nearly half a year and three quick covid tests on Saturday we continued our Mordheim campaign. It felt really good to get the Hobbits out again. One friend tried his new Norse men army, but because Fantasywelt doesn't get new stock of Frostgrave and other minis, he had to sub with some of my minis.

We played "The lost prince" and the lovely Lady Curtainface played the lost prince(ss). Seeing as she started behind the pub we reasoned that she was drunk and disorderly and it was now our duty as good Hobbits, Undead and Norse men to get her home safely. Unfortunately before every turn she moves D6 with a scatter dice.

Undead

Norse men

Hobbits

Lady Curtainface

Hilarity ensued, because the good Lady walked away from every warband straight into the one corner where no one started. And she moved 6" every turn. The Norse men and half of the Undead raced to get to her and in the end she walked right into the arms of the werewolf of the Norse warband as he seemed the better alternative to the ghouls and zombies closing in.

I on the other hand just started a brawl with the other half of the Undead. I nearly got the vampire (Wight King mini) down with arrows, but from 6 shots managed to only wound with one. He was pretty pissed, crossed the river and killed four little halflings (including my leader) with no effort at all.
On the other hand Harvey the Ogre was in killing mood and managed to kill his mercenary brethren, two ghouls and the wizard mercenary, leveling three times after the game. He now has strength 5 and toughness 5 and is in all respects the muscle of this warband.

Always cool to see some Mordheim action!
The Vampire can be truly menacing enemy to deal with, unless it's played by me haha
I'm hoping we get our campaign back on track at some point. It's been paused indefinitely (a little over a year now).

Cool kitbash using the Necromunda models and a good way to save some money

Thanks Graven, although full disclaimer, it's not my board, but my friend's. He did a great job with it and it is always a joy to play on it.

Thanks gobert! We will do another game tomorrow, alas it will be the last for the next time. Curfew will quite likely get enacted next week and as we play in the evenings, we can't. It really bugs me, because with preemptive measures like testing it should be possible to let people meet. Looking forward to summer and hopefully more vaccination.

Thanks Ezki! Luckily the vampire is a monster, but he also got stupidity. If we are lucky he sometimes wanders aimlessly around or just drools. Those are the moments we cherish

DJJazzyJeff wrote:I’m guessing Harvey is the one with two heads? Solid work there, bud. Strength and toughness 5!

Thanks DJJazzyJeff! And yeah, Harvey is the two-headed ogre. Got him in a lot which I mostly passed on due to not really feeling an ogre army, but this one looked nice and as he was unpainted was the perfect candidate for a unique ogre mercenary.

Because the grey vampire (in Wight King disguise) got on my nerves, I took him with me after our last game and now he is new, shiny and hopefully undies the next game

It was quite fun painting him and I sure will get the new Wight character on horse someday.

And I finally finished my Retributors for my sisters (cherubs still need to get primed). Really happy, the black armor works well and differentiates them well from the "normal" sisters.

Thanks gobert! The purple helps tie everything together, have to see where I put it on the Enforcer sisters.

mcmattila wrote:The Wight King looks excellent, really makes me want to get to mine... Likewise, the Enforcer Sisters are sweet, looking forward to seeing them painted!

Thanks mcmattila! Do it, paint your Wight King, it's a really cool model. And as said before, was really said to give it back to my friend. I need more Wights myself, gonna get the new one on horseback.

Luckily the day I finished the Wight an article on Warhammer Community went up about Wight Kings and I realized I painted part of his cowl under the crown as armour and a buckle on the shoulder as a gold piece. Both errors where immediately rectified. My friend was very happy with the paintjob and I'm now in the process of finishing his three Dreg-stand-ins he had started some time ago. Pics will follow.

After a round of negative covid tests we had another two games on Friday. Really fun, although the newly painted Wight did not follow the law and totally failed to get killed Instead he more or less won both games single-handedly.

My Hobbits had heavy losses in both games, but they are scrappy little fellas. This one with the axe charged through the portal into a room with a lot of ghouls. It was just his bad luck, that none of his friends managed to follow He knocked one ghoul over, but failed to kill it and after that he got minced.

My other friend got his Frostgrave minis and built his Barbarian warband so he didn't have to borrow minis from me. Lovely minis and Contrast works well on them. Take a good look towards the guy with the two axes near the stairs. This is his mighty leader Karl. He died in every game he has played First time the week before my Hobbits took him out and he died permanently. First game on Friday he went through a portal and ended up in front of Harvey. It did not go well, but in the aftergame he survived and even got blunted so he would not have to do Ld tests when charging models that cause fear. And then the last game came along. Karl hadn't realized, that the Hobbit archers on the other side of the river can see him. One took aim and killed him, first shot. My friend was a little nonplussed - especially when another of the squad took out his werewolf. To make matters worse, both died permanently after the game.

It looks like you have been busy. There is a lot to catch up on here.

I’ve never seen anyone make Sisters out of the Palantines before. Very interesting to watch your step by step progress with that. I agree that the newer kits from GW are making kitbashing much more difficult than when the heads, arms, torso and legs were all separate and easily interchangeable. It’s good that the standard miniatures can have new and interesting and more dynamic poses but for me personally I prefer the endless creativity and variety of the old kits that were built to be kitbashed.

That Mordheim table and terrain is beautiful. Is that a local store? I maybe missed why the hobbits have a two-headed ogre but it obviously helped with the game balance as hobbits vs vampires does seem a bit one-sided. Looks like a good time was had by all.

Your Sisters’ paint scheme is looking really good. It’s nice to see a different color palette like that.

Lots of good stuff going over here.

Thanks The Riddle Of Steel! Actually I find kitbashing more or less pretty easy, although it is pretty easy with old Fantasy Sets for Mordheim But with the stormbolters and Palatines the biggest problem is that the Enforcers and Sisters have a significantly different sizes and with the second batch I will use a lot more dryfitting to see, if I can do better. I was really surprised that I could do that much with only resorting to green stuff once.

The table is a friend's, he built it some time ago. It is lovely playing on it. The Hobbit list has the option to take one village ogre and it is much needed with the low strength. And I got lucky first game and the ogre ascended from henchman to hero. Let's just hope, he doesn't perma-die soon.

Syro_ wrote:I'm glad you're getting some games in, they look fun. That's cool about the wight king dominating like that, but I hope your hobbits get the upper hand soon.

Unfortunately this was the last game of Mordheim for the forseeable future, but we hope to get back on track in summer. And then we will kill that abomination of a wight king/vampire

With curfew looming I got one more game in after another bout of negative tests. This time it was 40k in my hobby room. Kinda Matched Play (we used the missions, but calculated armies in Power Level). I tested my sisters and I loved it. They were so fun to play, really good at the offense, packing a punch and quite resilient at times. Took my friend 40 shots with shoot twice stratagem to kill 4 sisters in my 5-woman-squad.
Celestine and my Canoness were the MVPs, my Canoness holding of the Warrior squad and locking down the right flank with it. She weathered them coming back all the time and more or less won me the game.

Dice were still not wholly in love with me, but thankfully my friend had some bad rolling too. Most memorable was still my Canoness. Making 5 3+ saves with only one wound left was great, but then she struck back with her 4 attacks... hitting on 2+... and I rolled four 1s

Won the game with only a few points more, secondaries were the key, because we didn't manage to get the other one's objectives. Really, really fun and I'm excited for all the new sister models and hope the new codex or campaign book won't do too much with the rules.

And getting a copy of Cursed City I started with the first minis and choose the parcours vampire mixed apparently with a bit of werewolf. Decided to go for bright hair colors which will continue on the Underworlds Vampire warband, which I have also bought.

Quite happy although I'm still at odds with the Contrast flesh colors. I tried different techniques, but on larger surfaces I can't make it behave like I want to.

And for my Sisters some more Cherubs, that should paint up pretty fast.
