Avatars of Khaine are usually more lava, and less blood, right? (Except for the hand)

I could see it being some weird bloody avatar for Daughters of Khaine.

Though we did have an eldar hand in a rumor engine...

I actually like the old Avatars (especially the infantry-sized one I use as an Autarch) but everything else in the game got ridiculously big. I don't want a Wraith Knight-sized Kaiju of an Avatar but I'd be super happy with one as tall as a Wraith Lord.

The Bloody Hand of Khaine.

Not to be confused with the Sodding Leg of Isha. Or the Flipping Eyelid of Ceorgach.

A plastic Avatar seems like it is necessary... but hopefully it will NOT be as big as a greater daemon.

Any reason why you wouldn't want it to match the 4 current GDs?

That is AoS one though. 40K one has virtually no spikes in comparison.

Though if it is really AoK, bravo for GW for picking what is probably #1 most pointless update in the whole range. If you don't like current AoK, there is not one but two alternatives in GW store alone, plastic AoK that can be easily 40Kified, and big imposing one from FW, even a primaris lieutenant would be a better use of time than making fourth. Can't they make Avatar of Cegorach or something to match the other two Avatars, Harlequins (and frankly Ynnari too) need new models a lot more than their uppity cousins.

That's Forgeworld. It's not, by any definition, perfectly fine.

Games Workshop are not your friends. They are not a small dev trying their best. They are a multibillion dollar company making calculated decisions about how many costs they can cut, how lazy they can be about relases, and how much they can paywall. They will do it again. Stop giving them money for this.

I agree, but for reasons:
1- The aspect warriors are a mess and first need new models and somehow come up with rules to make them viable in the eldar meta (not just "if they run with the new fancy avatar they get cheesy bonuses")
2- Yeah same as the first point, GW have neglected aspect shrines over the years so Craftworlder meta no longer depend on weird totem warriors and their deity.
The avatar used to be the hard hitting centerpiece that could go up against dreadnoughts and stuff. Now, the eldar can find way better options.

There's plenty of artwork showing the Avatar of Khaine being equivalent in size to Greater Daemons and Daemon Primarchs. That's the size he should be.

 Irbis wrote:

The metal one does have similar shaped spikes on it's vambrace to that shown in the rumour image.

Personally, as an Eldar player, i think a new Avatar of Khaine would be the most significant update in the whole range for a variety of reasons.

1. Not everyone wants to work with Forgeworld's resin/Games Workshop's Finecast and would prefer to work with plastic.
2. The Sword Avatar has been discontinued and i wouldn't be surprised if the same thing eventually happens to the Spear one.
3. The Dark Elf Cauldron of Blood Avatar can't be purchased separately, is very static given its intention being as a statue for a separate model and looks way more at home alongside Dark Eldar than Craftworld Eldar.
4. Games Workshop will never produce rules for the Avatar of Khaine equivalent to a Greater Daemon until they produce a new larger plastic model.

The Avatar of Khaine used to be the most important unit in an Eldar army and arguably the most powerful unit in the entire game. It deserves a new plastic alteration similar to those of the Greater Daemons with rules to match and given its rightful place as a centerpiece of the army.

Add in the fact that plastic Avatar has potential to attract high end painters similar to Be'lakor and sell like hotcakes. It seems like a good bet.

That place is the harsh dark future far left with only war left.

To be fair we endured about 20 straight years where Khorne literally received all the attention by GW in Fantasy or 40k. As of late they seemed to be focusing on only the other 3 which is not necessarily best, but I'd argue 3 is better then 1.

I do hope for a World Eater codex as well though, I own 60 bunny ear zerkers and 35 blood warrior conversion zerkers plus a load of demon engines and it would be nice for them to not suck lol.

Well, I think it should be smaller for fluff reasons (as seen in that art also).

More practically, I think that daemons and such have become too large and are getting away from "playable model" and headed into "display model" land, and because if the model was smaller then maybe it will not cost an arm and a leg... well ok, no I am sure it will still be £100.

The current Avatar is one of the oldest miniatures still produced by Games Workshop. It's a fantastic choice for an update and, in the minds of many, one that is a decade over due.

Yes, Eldar players around the world can rejoice at repurposing a T-posting plastic statue, or a giant resin model. Great stuff.

Boy, the "we don't need a new avatar" argument is not one I'd expected to see.

There are recent rumours of a World Eater codex in 9th that are only a few days old from a reliable source, so you may get your wish sooner than you think

Eldar getting a new avatar while most of their range stayin in resin or being old crappy plastic models would be perfectly fitting given how gw treated them

Depends on what scale release they get. Dark Eldar and Mechanicus got a single model with their codex, while Necrons got 9 plus indomitus and the etb, and orks are getting 11?

I think Craftworld Eldar are pretty much guarenteed a more extensive refresh when it comes to their next release given what we have seen with the likes of Orks and Necrons.

At the very least I would like to see:
-Plastic Avatar of Khaine on Greater Daemon scale ideally with 3 Weapon Options (Sword/Axe/Spear)
-Plastic Warp Spiders
-Plastic Shining Spears

I'd hope for pretty much all the Aspect Warriors to get new plastic kits but only plucked out the ones i thought needed it most, Warp Spiders due to them being the oldest sculpts from 2nd edition and Shining Spears due to the current ones still being on the old jetbikes.

If we look at other Xenos releases this edition (barring Dark Eldar) we’ve seen a concerted effort to reduce and replace any non-plastic kits, and a refresh of basic infantry, alongside a few entirely new units. However, many characters remain in Finecast.

To be honest, whilst no fan of Finecast, I can kinda cope with characters remaining. We can arguably convert up replacements, and whilst an entirely plastic line is most desirable, I do appreciate their focus being on units.

I reckon we’ll see…..

The majority if not all Aspect Warriors in plastic.
Plastic Avatar
Some kind of Lt type character. Perhaps a fighty one and a psychic one.
New Guardians
New Vyper (possibly with a greater range of options)
New Rangers
Plastic Grav Support Weapons.

Certainly I’d argue that’s the bare minimum that needs doing. I know the overall range is quite long in the tooth - but the tanks and walkers remain pretty decent kits that once assembled don’t particularly show their age.

It could still stand a refresh as the gunner and gunner chair are a smidge wonky, as I suspect its just the Vyper seat regigged a bit

The Falcon chassis is from 2nd ed knocking on 25 years old, so long overdue a polish

A Vyper more in line with the Skyweaver would be cool (even if thanks to Doom a Haywire cannon is unlikely)
