They can unlock the armory but is the point sink worth it?

I don't think so. I would prefer to get the 2-3x as many CSM's that you are gonna get of Chosen asp champs with wargear.

A combo that was bandied about a long time ago was AC's with d. speed, d. mutation, d. talons and infiltrate. A very expensive but potent individual.

You could also take khorne AC's to get feel no pain. Think terminators with feel no pain. Ouch. Expensive as hell though and probably not worth setting an entire unit that way. But even a few adds to the resilience of the unit.

I also recall that C99 uses chosen on bikes to get what is essentially a 5th fast attack slot for his Night Lords.

Overall though I agree with Darrian.

Yes, it is. But only in certain circumstances.

The daemonic speed/talons combo seems worthwhile, although I've never tried it.

I can, however, attest to the efficacy of the Chosen Biker. Although deucedly expensive (they come out to a minimum of 60 points per model, properly equipped...without weapons) the ability to turbo-boost with daemon armor lets you do nasty, nasty things. Especially if you've got daemons.

I kit mine out as follows:
2 AC's with bikes, power fists, plasma guns, daemon armor
3 AC's /w bikes, daemon armor.
Mark of Chaos Undivided, Skilled Riders
Funky icon (lately, it's been the Icon of Chaos Undivided, although I used a Daemon icon to equally good effect)
370 points.

Hmm. Seems to me if you are paying the premium for the extra ACs, spending an additional few points on power weapons may be a good idea.

I could be talking out my ass though.

Cent is assuming that 2-3 of them are gonna die. Which is a pretty solid assumption even with 2+ invulnerables. Even when the 3 cheap ones die he's still got a pretty nasty squad.

It's too bad you can't take demonic essence on aspiring champs

As a side note-
I tried a squad of infiltrating AC's with an icon and demonic speed/talons, in my Slaanesh demonbomb attempts. They did pretty decently, pretty consistently spanking squads of marines at a time. Kinda like 3+ beastial genestealers that summon daemonettes.

But I'd only do that in a Slaanesh list where you get the warp scream. It would be futile without furious charge, as you'd lose one or two 40 point models to bp/ccw attacks in a lot of circumstances.

Yep. 2-3 will die. Rarely does that unit end up as a scoring unit, or even end up alive. But as a means for providing an entry point for daemons, they are a unit without peer. On top of that, they hit really hard as well. And they draw an immense amount of fire, which saves the rest of my army grief.

I have tried different combos of the Aspiring Champions usually in really fluffy / stupidily broken ways. A group of Khorne champs on juggernaughts with feel no pain and power axes. Close to 100 points a model but they are brutal if they ever work their way into melee. The slaanesh champs with doom sirens / power weapons as well.

I never thought about the Slaanesh / talons / speed combo. I may have to try it.
