West Wind are proud to announce the release of their brand-new 28mm alternative history WWII range, Secrets of the Third Reich.

Imagine that WWII didn''t end in 1945....... In Secrets of the Third Reich, the year is 1949.

This is a world of science gone mad. Super weapons rule the battlefield. New weapons, New Vehicles, New forms of warfare.

The scale of this range is 28mm. The kits are white resin and metal, and each kit contains straighforward assembly instructions. You can see the whole range at westwindproductions.co.uk. Check out the background information on our website, along with info/stat sheets for the vehicles and some concept art for the new infantry.

Any questions, drop me a line at mail@westwindproductions.co.uk.

Regards!

Pretty sweet. I'm not a huge fan of the british mech, but it's a damn nifty idea.

"The last known instance of common sense happened at a GT. A player tried to use the 'common sense' argument vs. Mauleed to justify his turbo-boosted bikes getting a saving throw vs. Psycannons. The player's resulting psychic death scream erased common sense from the minds of 40k players everywhere. " - Ozymandias

I think those are all cool. I love the pulp-WWII stuff. The mechs are sweet. Now I want to see some infantry!

I wonder if in the game you can take the new pulp mecha stuff, along side the more conventional tanks. I think it would be sweet to see Shermans and Pershings duking it out with the SdKfz 331 Hornet and Tigers and Panthers fighting the M203 Sarge.

Well, the mecha are hideous and the tanks look more WW1 than WW2, but other than that...

Oh wait, there ARE no redeeming qualities for these, are there?

The supply does not get to make the demands.

You get to play alternate WWII history. That's the sticking point.

Well, they aren't tanks, they're APC's.

And I would expect the mechs to look hella' crude. I like them.

Does any company have a good ruleset for pulp WWII stuff?

I saw those earlier, but I couldn't find any pics of how they look out-of-the-box and assembled.

Houdini, don't know about army-scale pulp wargames, but this might be a lead:

Pulp Figures makes some cool stuff too.

Hordak: try Gear Krieg. Tesla arrays, mecha, helipack troopers, rocketeers, and all at 15mm, so it works with your FOW and Peter Pig stuff. And yes, you can (AFAIK) use standard WWII stuff with it.

Otherwise, try the TMP; I think there are a couple of free and free-ish rules out there for pulp/Weird War II.

Guinness: for those who are men of the cloth and football fans, but not necessarily in that order.

I think the lesson here is the best way to enjoy GW's games is to not use any of their rules.--Crimson Devil

Gear Krieg is fun.

All right, I was harsh, but the tanks/apcs/whatever don't look like they've been derived from actual WW2 designs at all. If anything, they look more kin to a Chimera than a Churchill.

well, if you had read the description of the APC's then you would have learned that their design was inspired by a WWI mark V tank. They aparently liked the large internal volume.

Oh, I see.

The real-life Mark V was about as cramped and unwieldy as any WW1 armored vehicle, and also suffered from serious maintenance issues as a result. Its top speed could be matched by a walking infantryman and given its limited suspension, was very uncomfortable. Not to mention the tracks tended to break down every 20-30 miles, on average.

If I were to design a pulp sci-fi WW2 APC, I'd at least select a period chassis that would match some actual historical vehicles in operating characteristics instead of such an anachronism.

Still, they do look cooler than a Sherman
