Nice. It's star wars. So it's awesome. "Unfortunately the starships are NOT to scale with each other" I'd prefer that than needing a 6 foot table because of some mon cals.

But do you want your X-Wing model as large as your Mon Calamari cruiser? There's changing the scale on some models out of necessity and then there's throwing scale out the door altogether.

But do you want your X-Wing model as large as your Mon Calamari cruiser? There's changing the scale on some models out of necessity and then there's throwing scale out the door altogether. Well if you look at the starter kit it says there's 10 models included. The Mon cal and SSD are laid out width-wise so with the thickness of the box taken into account it looks like everything else will be pretty small. Remember that there's also some cards and a rulebook in there, so I'm thinking the space between the two is where the other eight models are located. If they were laid side-to-side they might look ridiculously oversized but I'm assuming there's some packaging space between them like in the other clix-type starter sets. LOL at KK's comments. I can't imagine how anybody who even knew enough about Star Wars to be interested in a mini game could mistake that ship for the Home One (nerd alert). Might just be me and my years of playing SWCCG, though. Speaking of which, I might just edit that wiki article and include the Mon cals from the card game...the Liberty was an actual ship.

Oh- another SWCCG'er out there eh? I just bought another box of boosters on ebay. From the Tatooine set (my gaming interest started to wind down just as that set was coming out so I'm excited to see what's in it now).

"But do you want your X-Wing model as large as your Mon Calamari cruiser?"
Or your Mon Cal Cruiser as big as your Super Star Destroyer, for that matter...
If it were up to me, I would have gone for a single scale for capital ships, and a single scale for fighters (which can be fudged a little in relation to capitals, given the huge size difference... that, or go really, really small for the fighters and make them on squadron bases, ala Babylon 5 or Mechwarrior infantry) and left the really big stuff like the Executor for individual special release, like they did with the AT-AT for the miniatures game.

Boo. That Tatooine set came out right as I finished. I hated being able to mix those two time periods. Got 2 Tatooine boosters as a gift. Probably the last SWCCG cards I ever received by any means. Premiere, ANH, Hoth--those were expansions. I didn't get into the mix until Jabba's palace, but I thought those first three were just sweet.

I would love to play a Star Wars Starship Battles type game....although the way this is being executed isn't doing much to grab my interest. I think it would be much better in the style of Battlefleet: Gothic. Lot's of big capital ships. Obviously the scale would have to be fudged slightly. Perhaps have a Super Star Destroyer about the size of the Planet Killer (or even a bit larger) and things like Imperial-class Star Destroyers and Mon Calamari Star Cruisers the size of the regular BFG cruisers (Lunars, Carnages, etc.) and things like Nebulon-B Frigates and Strike Cruisers the size of escorts (Cobras, Swords, etc.) Fighters would be very small, and one miniature or counter would represent a whole squadron. But nobody asked me.

Posted By Anung Un Rama on 10/01/2006 3:04 PM I suppose it will be pretty much like the regular SW Miniatures. you move on spaces and roll D20s. 1 Rules - the rules have been confirmed by Wizards game designers as a new rules set. 2. Scale - While the figs are not to scale, the aren't all the same size. There will be large figures to represent Capitol ships and smaller ones for fighters. 3. Collectability - There is only one set planned, so collectability will be less of an issue after everybody gets theirs. Only 40 figs in the set. I'm thinking completesets will be up on Ebay soon after release. 4. My only complaint so far is the fact that there is apparently only going to be 2 sided light and dark. 5. SWGGC - All the sets based on episode One were broken. Decipher knew that the liscence was about to go, so they pumped the sets full of over the top cards so people would buy, buy, buy. Podracing was almost as bad as numbers. Best expansion IMHO - Cloud City. Lots of interaction.

Very interesetd in this game. But I also hope they won't go overboard with the scale. I reserve judgement until I see the models.
SWCCG is very nice, but some finesse-aspects didn't tranport well in the game...Epic Duels, carbon freezing or Bounty hunting for example, anyone knows how to pull them off effectively?

Would have been cooler if: 1. It wasn't collectible. There's no better way to keep serious miniature players away from a game. 2. They had the balls to just pick a scale. They could have at least done a lot of small/medium ships and left the big crazy ships for promotional stuff like Wizkids has done.

Anything in any scale would mean x wings are size of a pentip and star destroyers are the size of your entire table. Forget superstar destroyers and the really big ships. A sliding scale of fighters are a half inch, small ships and inch and big ships 2 inches or more is the only way to do a game like this.

It would be cool though to have a massive fighter and light ship battle on a SSD. Now that would be a fun table to play on. A shadered SSD.
