Hello all,

I knew that the Empire was on the upcoming list of army books and miniatures to be done and I see from the Sneak Peeks that it is the next army to be done for WFB.  To say the least I am very jazzed about this.  So I was wondering if anyone could spill the beans on the Empire Rumour Mill here?

Have there been any verified shots of the new models other than what's in the sneak peeks? Has it been mentioned when the new book will be released?

Holy crap (all over the place)! Good to hear things are being shaken up some, but missile volley launcher? pigeon bombs? hunter killer missiles? robo-horses? grenade launchers?

This makes me kinda sad for the fantasy aspect of WHFB, though I guess vering toward Steampunk is the cool thing to do. Huh.

Yeah, I'm not too sure about the rumored additions/changes myself. But it might prove interesting to model.

I can deal with a pigeon bomb. That's just funny. The grenade launcher I can almost imagine as something like a firework.

But a horse-golem? And a rocket-salvo firing war machine? Come on.

If the Steam Tank has 10 wounds at T6 and 1+ armor save I'd hardly call it toned down, and as far as I know Helblaster now has S5 even to long range and still uses 3 artillery dice worth of hits (not shots).

By the way, an Empire army won a large 125 player tournament in Finland last weekend. 3 flying heroes, a scroll caddy, 6 units of Knights, 4 Great Cannons and the Steam Tank.

Well, as Ed Maule once famously said: "Therion's from Finland, where comp does not exist. Where he's from the trash we're forced to field for a tournament would lose to a 12 year old." - bigchris1313

Meh.  I think they should stick to the basic early black-powder stuff and shy away from the steampunk.  If I want steampunk, I'll play Warmachine.

For me, it's not so much the M203 equipped outriders and the MLRS and the pidgeon powered cruise missiles, or even the robo-horse (I actually kinda-like the idea of the robo-horse for some reason).  I just see this as a sign of things to come...I mean how long before we have Empire Jezzail teams?  Or Robo-Cyborg-Skaven-Ogre-Slann?

Don't we already have Robo-Cyborg-Skaven-Ogre-Slann?

Except for the Slann bit, Thanquels rat ogre is both a Cyborg and an Ogre.

p.s. Robo-Cyborg-Skaven is a little redundant?

See what people are forgeting here is that not every one will use these new items and even then there are people like me who prefer instead to use good old fashioned state troops and knights.

I like the fact that there will be lots of choices. That some of the choices seem useless based on our current level of knowledge is par for the course.
For example, I am happy they are bringing back outriders. Arming them with move-or-fire weapons seems odd, but the ability to rapidly reposition a shooty unit may prove very useful... not to mention a redirecting unit that can stand & shoot with blackpowder.

I don't like the idea of the Steam Tank having a Toughness. It takes away the uniqueness of the model; it's not a chariot, so it shouldn't behave like one. The Hull Points sytem worked fairly well and (contrary to what people seem to think) was not overpowering. Careful maeuvering can shut down the Tank.

Cheaper state troops? I'm there!

And would someone like to explain the point of giving fast cavalry a more-or-fire weapon?

warseer had a tiny little picture of their army up. I can't find it right now though.

New spearmen and other foot troops, same militia. 2 foot soldier boxes, 1 for crossbows and guns, 1 for spears, swords and halbreds. All are 1 peice bodies, not sure about the arms.
