So I haven't played 40k in years, since around the time Necrons and Tau were still pretty new.  Dawn of War has gotten me interested in playing again, and I wanted to make a marine list that I could buy and paint quickly to have fun while I worked on a more difficult side army (I am thinking Orks).  In the past I've always made my armies too vehicle-heavy, and I'm board of that.  I've played both standard marines and IG in 3rd edition, but I'm starting from scratch since I don't have access to any of my old models.

All of that boring background information aside, here's the list.  I'm mostly concerned with if it would be considered too cheesy, or if it is even playable at all.  It's very different from anything else I've played before, and I have no idea what the metagame is like in 4th edition, so I'm very open to criticism and if this is an offensive list I apologize in advance.

I am not sure if I want the Chaplain+Assualt squad to deep strike or not.  I like the idea of having the entire army show up after my opponent has set-up, but both units are very expensive and I want to be sure they're on the table and together as soon as possible.  If they didn't deep strike, I think I could have decent success using the Chaplain and Assualt squad as a "bait" to get opponents to set up in positions which allow them to target the HQ but also leave them vulnerable to my 5 infiltrating squads.  I'm worried the HQ and assualt marines are too expensive, but I have so many marines I can put on the table it seems like I'll be safe.  Will this work, or will my squads get shot-up and die?  Thanks for any perspective, I think this would be a fun list to play but I'm just not really sure about any of it yet.

Stick with a reclusiarch, it's cheaper.

Drop the Melta and plasma gun, and get a regular melta, since you want your sarge to use his powerfist. Bump the squad up to 8 marines.

For troops, stick with 6 man las/plas.

Fast Attack: DO NOT DEEP STRIKE THE ASSUALT SQUAD! You cannot charge when you deep strike, and the enemy will move away or shoot you. That is bad!

If you want to keep the troops as infiltrators, you could take Cleanse and Purify as well. This would allow you to take a pair of Plasma Guns so that you can run and doubletap your opponent, or, for a few extra points, take a pair of Meltaguns and a Vet. Sarge with a PF to run, shoot with your meltas and charge into CC. Even without Take the Fight To Them, this will work well, since you'll be able to drop one or two of theirs with the meltas, regardless of whether they're GEQ or Oblits. the bolter marines will act as ablative wounds and allow you to beat the crap out of them in H2H with your PF Sarge. Of course, I'd also recommend bumping their number up to 6.

The Veterans should be an 8-man., and probably should be CC oriented, save for the Meltagun. I run them as Infiltrating BT with all CC weapons (LC pair and Power Fist), and with 8 in the squad, I'm assured that in the absence of all encompassing fire, I'll be able to get them in close. Your Assault Squad will help them in this role, though a Reclusiarch w/ Jump Pack will help them even more.

That'll leave you with your infiltrating Vets, followed by a DS Assault Squad (I would recommend you deploy them normally, since they don't have the firepower to defend themselves on the first turn they are in-game) to tie up your opponent in H2H. Then you've got 4 6-man double Plasma SM squads that infiltrate.

Know what's lacking? Fire support. You might want to keep two of the 6-man's as Las/Plas, or just go all-out and take a pair of Dev. Squads.

"War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling, which thinks that nothing is worth war, is much worse. The person, who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature who has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself."
