I just read that a 4th printing of the chaos codex came out.  Source:

The EOT boards itself.  I never find anything useful there but I was bored and decided to check it out.  Can one confirm that a new printing indeed exists and doom siren has been modified yet again?

Its confirmed. I've seen it myself. We had a post in YMTC a week or so ago with the updated Doom Siren wording.

The "4th printing" doesn't say "4th printing" in the front of the book, it just says that it was printed in April 2006.

It's brilliant under the radar moves like this which only serve to make 40k an even worse exercise in contentious arguments. I bet nowhere does GW even acknowldege the changes, aside from carefully picking through and comparing the new printing to older versions.

OK thanks. Problem is now I have to trade in my 3rd for 4th printing too. What was the YMDC thread titled? Did it come to the conclusion that since weapon rules were still in effect, you no longer had doomfisting sgts.?

Was this already discussed on Dakka (aside from YMDC)? If it was, might as well delete it.

So what is the wording of the Doom Siren now? Has it been totally corrected this time around?

Yep. They got rid of the "including weapons" proviso for what the Doom Siren's effect ignores. Here's the YMTC thread. Scroll down:

Anyone know of any other 'stealth' changes to the codex?  I already have a 1st and 3rd printing, and I'll be darned if I'm going to buy yet another.  This makes 5 chaos codexes in 2 editions... way too much... put it in an FAQ/Errata so we can all play by the rules... :S

Its nice to have corrections made, its not so nice to show up at a tournament and think your right because your playing by the rules you have, just for someone else to shove a different printing in your face.

An announcememnt at the very least is in order besides having to trudge through the eye of terror. Or perhaps an errata page for download, like in the past.

Thanks for the info. Time to buy yet another chaos codex! I only carry it around since it's the one with so many versions people are likely using old prints.

No way I'm buying another codex. I'll just pencil in the changes as it is just not worth the money to spend. Plus, they are up for redo late next year.

No earth shattering, thought provoking quote. I'm just someone who was introduced to 40K in the late 80's and it's become a lifelong hobby.
