How does she scale? I thought the stormcast were marine scale, not people scale. Looks good though.

I prefer the marine looking forward.

The Sequitor is about a head taller than an Orlock ganger. If I get another, I might try a conversion like this one.

She's really cool. I think the head on the lamentor should be facing the gun or looking slightly to the other side like "what was that sorta deal" but that's my cents.

Thanks a lot for the feedback, everyone!

@ Nevelon: She's actually as tall as a Primaris Marine, maybe even a hair's breadth taller. Not nearly as bulky, though. Even so, it only really works because she's an Inquisitrix, and we can clearly see the Inquisition having all kinds of sinister tech to augment a human far beyond their original capabilities (and size)

So, with my Renegade Armiger finished, I thought it was time for another INQ28 conversion, and I still had the other Stormcast Sequitors from that Easy To Build kit, so I used the next one to make a Crusader for my recent Ordo Malleus Inquisitrix:

As you can see, it's a rather simple conversion from a structural standpoint, although it did require some detail work when it came to picking out the right bitz to take the model into the 41st millennium -- and to replace some of the more overtly AoS inconography.

Here he is, along with his mistress, Inquisitrix Elianu:

Sheesh, people -- don't try to comment all at once... o_O

Anyway, here's a small update: I realised I still had one of those Custodes swords I could steal a trigger from, so I carefully shaved it off and grafted it to the haft of the weapon, along with a small Raptor Imperialis icon:

I think paint is going to make or break them for feeling 40kish. They are both still pretty clearly Stormcasts as is. But I've got faith you can make it work.

Also excited to see paint on these, especially with the multicolored plastics. I believe in you though, and new guy certainly looks the business - great head swap in particular, nice fit.

Just as everyone already said, amazing head fit, really top notch conversion work. They both look really good but since they are both stormcast-based conversions, they look more like colleagues than master and subordinate. Perhaps you should either tone down the Crusader, or buff him up, to differentiate him from the Inquisitrix, though having said that, i realise how hard this should be considering the nature of ETB models.

Thanks a lot, guys!

Phew, I've been extremely busy, and it certainly seems I've been away for ages! Anyway, allow me to at least share my latest projects with you. First up, in an attempt to get some more members of my Deathwatch killteam painted, I did at least manage to paint their shoulder pads, complete with some freehand designs, a technique that is very much a bogey opponent of mine

Unfortunately, the rest of today's update will have to consist of unpainted plastic -- but I hope you'll still appreciate seeing some kitbashes:

A while ago I already showed you a very early WIP for an Archmagos of the Adeptus Mechanicus. This guy:

But while it felt like I was definitely on to something, the guy also needed some serious tweaks. So I spent some time trying to work out all the kinks:

I tried to make him look a bit more grounded in his pose and composition. Plus I had wanted to use that alternate Magos Dominus head with the mitre for quite a while now -- and I think it works really well with the more upright pose, compared to the standard Dominus. The top of the staff/axe has also been replaced, mostly to add yet another way to distinguish the new model from my older, mostly uncoverted Magos Dominus:

I really like how the models share at least half of their parts, yet still look fairly different

In fact, I have made even more tweaks to the model, adding a piece of parchment and coming up with a slightly better setup for that secondary set of arms:

And since it felt so good to be able to get in some hobby time again, I built yet another model, the - probably - last member for my true scale Deathwatch killteam, a Carcharodon:

Where the rest of the killteam is Primaris-based (for that look between classic Mk. VII and the more hi-tech looking Deatwatch armour), I wanted this guy to be wearing a suit of bulky, archaic armour, as a shout out to the chapter's history of long isolation and drifting through the farthest reaches of know space, so I used parts from one of the plastic Tartaros Terminators, spliced together (rather cleverly, if I do say so myself) with Primaris parts. The original idea was to come up with an approximation of Mk. V armour, but I really ended up going for a more general pre-heresy look, to show how the armour might have been patched and redesigned over time.

I wanted to convey the feeling that this guy is used to wading into the frey of melee, swinging his weapons and making a huge mess as teeth and claws are shattering against his massive warplate. All in all, I am pretty happy with the kitbash so far, with one caveat: In spite of my best efforts, he's a tad shorter than the Primaris-based models, something that I'll hopefully be able to distract from with some deft basing

As always, let me know what you think!

Cheers for the feedback, guys! It seems like everyone on the forums (here, over at the B&C and at the Ammobunker) really hated the crotch jaw, so I obviously had to rethink that element

After a bit of hemming and hawing, here's the final setup I have come up with:

I think it works well enough in that the model still looks clean enough to read as a member of the Deathwatch, yet the jaw also adds a certain barbaric je ne sais quoi

If I have one small regret, is that the shaved down jaw looks less like a shark jaw now, and more like a generic monster jaw. But oh well, you win some, you lose some

In the meantime, it seems like all the kitbashes I have wanted to do for a while - and couldn't - now keep bubbling to the surface, so here's another kitbash: A feral worlder based on the AoS Darkoath Chieftain:

It occured to me that we don't get to see nearly enough feral worlders in Inquisitorial retinues, and the chieftain just seemed like the perfect base model. The model is so detailed and delicate that I had to pay attention to carefully bring it into the 40k setting without going overboard.

Seeing how tall this guy is, I think he would make a good follower for the - equally imposing - Inquisitrix Elianu, especially since she looks like she might have come from a warrior culture of some sort herself:

Shark jaw looks much better this way - nice improvement.

I also really dig the barbarian - he looks suitably imposing and dangerous. The gas mask at his belt and the shell-filled bandolier help make him a bit more 40K, but I do think the skull shoulder pad still signals Fantasy. If that were replaced with a SM or Necromunda piece it would work better IMO.

The jaw looks much better now. And that Barbarian is fantastic, may have to steal the idea for something.

Edit, what's the mask on his belt from?

I like what you did with the jaw, moving it up was definitely the right call.

Feral world barbarian looks phenomenal. Excellent work there, and I would tend to agree about them being under represented. Hard not to have it look like someone just threw some fantasy minis into a 40k game.

Cheers for the feedback, guys!

@ cheiflibrarian: That gas mask (and the pouch attached to it) are a bit from the Necromunda Goliath sprue.

@ Gomez: Hm, I really like that skull shoulder pad, to be honest, and I think it gives him a slight Daemonhunter vibe, which is apt as he is likely going to end up in an Ordo Malleus warband

That being said, I still felt I needed to make him look just ever so slightly more Imperial, and Augustus b'Raass over at The Bolter & Chainsword came up with the excellent idea to just shave off an aquila from a Space Marine bolter -- brilliant!

Now the sword was really the only area with enough space to put the aquila Plus it looks a little weird right now, in electric blue, because it was shaved off a Primaris bolter. But I am confident it should work out well enough once painted.

While I was at it, I added two very small nubs to the Feral Worlder's head, to either hint at some kind of subtle augmentation or at some kind of tribal decoration hammered into the skull:

I also couldn't help myself and added some very subtle decoration to the Carcharodon as well, intended as a small shout out to the look of Malchy's Space Sharks:

Now any further decoration and ornamentation will be left to the painting stage

The blue Aquila is a bit weird at the moment, but obviously will look good once painted, helps to show that he's not some feral chaos dude. Also the Carcharodon looks awesome, the reshift of the jaw looks perfect.

Cheers, guys!

@ konf: Certainly. Here you go:

As you can see, the difference in height is rather noticeable at the moment, even though you can probably shave off two or three milimetres from the difference, seeing how the model on the left is fully based. Even so, it's going to take some deft basing to make it less obvious -- in fact, I was surprised how short those plastic Tartaros legs are, compared to the FW resin legs.

That is way more than I expected. Your conversion looks huge on its own, but compared to the Primaris Marine he looks almost tiny.

It seems that most of the hight difference is located in the lower legs. So maybe putting a spacer in the shins would work.
Or you could just glue some plasticard under the feet and add some greenstuff to add that crenelation look of the Cataphractii. Bulking the feet out wouldn't harm the overall look as the armor really looks very heavy duty.
Whatever you do, he is an awesome model and you can expect the idea of using Primaris backplates stolen

@ konf: Cheers for the suggestions -- I think ultimately it'll be a matter of just basing him a bit higher than the rest of the kill team and hoping for the best

Speaking of which, after a longer painting slump, my recently completed Adeptus Titanicus-scale recreation of my 40k Renegade Knight has actually somewhat re-energised my hobby mojo, so I have managed to mostly finish the paintjob the next proper INQ28 model, namely a Castigators Space Marine for my INQ28 true scale Deathwatch killteam. Take a look:

He's still missing a base, of course -- and a name, incidentally. Although I have approached Commissar Molotov to come up with a name for the character, seeing how the Castigators are basically his chapter and everything.

Anyway, let me know what you think!
