That only applies to 9 wounds or less.

But you can pass wounds to Tyrant guards on a 2+

dont freak me out here. didnt the character spotlight say its 10 wounds AND below?

If it said that then it is wrong as we have seen the core rules.

The "Character" info release said 10 and less. Where does it say 9 or less?

So it would appear that Tervigon spam will be a thing again

As it doesn't appear you have to pay for extra points for 10 free termagants a turn

If you create an unit you have to pay for it, but if you replace lost models then it is free.

Fair enough..

But still worth it for large termagant squads

Something wants to attack your Hive Tyrant (either shooting or cc), they must hit it, wound it on T6, get pass its Armour/Invo save. Then if your Tyrant recieves a wound, he can pass it over to a Tyrant Guard within 3", as a mortal wound. Much much better for us that way, to have attacks go through all those layers against a Tyrant, instead of just resolving the process against a unit of T5 no invo save Guards.

Of course, they can just shoot the Guards instead, but you probably have Venomthropes to give them -1 to be hit.

I did notice that large Broods of Warriors can take multiples of Bio Cannons...that is new, and interesting. I Think Warriors can pop out of Tunnels so having Two Venom/Stranglers, followed by hacking folks into bite sized bits might keep Gunlines from dominating the field.

The will of the hive is always the same: HUNGER

Venom cannons are finally worth taking on warriors. I think 9 with 6 deathspitters and 3 venom cannons will be a solid synapse base, especially supported by a prime.

A big Warriors block looks like a prime candidate to travel along the Trygon hole now.
Too bad it looks like the Prime can't join them through the hole (at least I suspect so)

I threw together a joke 2500 list last night. Using the spearhead detachment, it was OOE, 3 trygons prime, 2 brood of 3 carnifex (scytal/claws/toxin), exocrine, 3x 3 warriors (actual, 2x deathspitters, venom cannon), venomthropes brood x6, 2x (20x gargoyles). Came to 2487 or some odd number. The trygon prime vomit out OOE and 6 carnifex, who, according to monstrous brood, deploy as one then go about on their own. The warriors and exocrine provide covering fire, venomthropes give the fire base a nice -1 to hit toward incoming fire, and the gargoyles go harass things with fleshborers & blinding venom.

Wouldn't be a joke if it worked like that, although you might get some people asking if it was a bad joke

Trygon (and trygon prime) tunnels can only deploy troops. Not even gargoyles. But the stealer shock is real

Maybe it's time to put this thread to pasture though and work up the new one for 8th

How do they not? Buy OOE, proceed to put Carnifex broods within 6 in of him, and charge your happy butt down the field, killing everything that moves.

On a side note, anyone bother to look at Red Terror? It's not looking hard to get that trigger of his to go off, and since he tests against the wounds characteristic....I want to see him devour a knight. I really want that image. I mean seriously, just wound something to low single digits, and he seems like a valid finisher.

On another side note, I am a little sad that only OOE has regeneration access, but happy that he gets a wound automatically.

On the final side note: give me a few hours to chat up some people, and I will go ahead and create the official thread for 8th edition Nids. One thing we will need will be a panel of testers willing to assist in the total writeup of changes per unit so that we can document it, as well as a full unit assessment that will need to be updated roughly in mid July to give us appropriate time to allow meta shifts to take root and give people plenty of time to celebrate holidays and take vacations and the like.

We have given the horror a name to salve our fears; we call it the Tyranid race, but if is aware of us at all it must know us only as Prey."

I'm definitely down for doing some write-ups of how units have changed.

I feel like the meta is going to be a very fluid concept, as it was with the rapid releases of 7th. Until each army has their own codex, things could change drastically for what is strong and what isn't.

Have we gotten any sort of word or rumors on what the timeline is for the codex releases? I can't imagine they would wait too long, as I'm sure everyone is anxious to see how their army plays in the new edition.

Well, I dont recall any specific info on faction specific codexes, but the BRB and 5 Comp Books will all be released at the same time as I recall. June 3rd is the Preorder and I believe it is the 17th for the full release.
That now having been said, the new 8th ed Tactica is officially up. URL is the following.

I'm wondering what's the best way to run Carnifexes now.

Full melee, full shooty, or a combination.

Old One Eye seems like a good bet too.

I am in heaven. All my favorite models are useable - and CC bugs - are viable and effective. Swarmlord is a beast. Hormies are great. I feel delirious.

First Red Terror. It's wound characteristic. Not Wounds remaining. Can't eat knights.

Second, there is a thread.

Sorry for the long wait. Spent much of last night laying down some new flooring in my house and then had to go into work last night. Normally I would agree with you, but I think this discussion is more a YMDC thing. I have no experience with AOS and degradation tables, and I can't speak for you, so you may have more knowledge on this than me, but here is my issue. You have MCs and Vehicles with these tables modify the stat line on the fly, which to me translates that you actually have to track the wounds/damage on these things on the stat line. Does that make sense? Take the Maleceptor for example. 12W base with 7 strength and WS 4. A lascannon shoots it and gets a lucky 6 damage roll. The table seems to imply that the new stat line should be 6W 6 strength and WS 5, all because that little chart is referencing the modified wound characteristic. I would completely agree with you if the wording on that chart didn't seem to imply these circumstances. Anyhow, I have been functioning for over 24 hours, so I will be hitting the hay.

You are reading it wrong. The attributes that change are marked on the stat line with an *. Wounds is not one of those. The adjustments table is showing you what changes and at what W remaining it takes on the new characteristics. No matter how many W remains the models stat line has the same W characteristic.
