This isn't a particularly needed tweak, I just thought it might be cool:

Space Marine Chapters (with Heed the Wisdom of the Ancients[?] and) without Have Faith in Suspicion may upgrade a Venerable Dreadnought to a Librarius Dreadnought for +15 points. Librarius Dreadnoughts are armed with a force weapon and a dreadnought close combat weapon fitted with a storm bolter. (strike as dccw OR fw with +1 A) They get Storm of the Emperor's Wrath for free and may replace it and/or purchase an extra power as any other Librarian. They count as having a Psychic Hood and LD 10 for Psychic Tests/using the hood. Perils of the Warp is resolved against their rear armour. They have access to all Dreadnought options and upgrades. The missile launcher will replace the dccw, allowing them to strike as normal with a force weapon without the +1 A, all others replace the force weapon, removing the force weapon strike option and +1 A. If they upgrade to extra armour it will take the form of ancient parchments bolted to their hulls and infused with psychic energy, which will allow them to also use two powers per turn once per game.

Thoughts?

Make it a 0 - 1, and only as a second HQ choice. I would love to do a 7 dread army.

I would almost rather see it as a "furioso" pattern HQ Chaplin! That would be a fun little monster to send stomping through an enemy line!

*drools*

That would be so sweet; I'd love it!

As a rule of thumb, the designers do not hide "easter eggs" in the rules. If clever reading is required to unlock some sort of hidden option, then it is most likely the result of wishful thinking.

But there's no sense crying over every mistake;
You just keep on trying till you run out of cake.

Sounds like a great idea WW. Very reminiscent of the Psi-Titan. 0-1 definitely, but I don't think it needs to be a mandatory 2nd HQ. I could deal with 7 dreads +15 points doesn't seem right to me though. Gonna need quite a few more points before I'd let it on the table. Great modeling ideas posibilities.

0-1 I suppose makes sense. If Dreadnoughts are rare and Librarians are rare, the Librarians in Dreadnoughts should be that much rarer.

My best idea for an upwards points tweak would be to force them to pay the higher cost for all Psychic Power upgrades. I don't think Storm of the Emperor's Wrath is too powerful - 140 points for a venerable force sword/ccw walker - though I admit veil AND might on an I4 S10 power weapon might be a little much for 170 points. Or 153 for missile launcher, force sword and fury...

Hmmm, I would love to see an all dread "Death Wing" type army list! Mortus pattern dreads for HS, Furioso parrern dreads for HQ, Drop Pods required for FA slots, and squads of 1 - 3 for TRP slots! That would be a fun little list if your opponants allowed home brew lists, and you had the cash to pay for it!
