Stolen from another board:

"new Empire pricing has 10-man plastic infantry sets at $22, which in essence raises the plastic regiment set cost from $35-$44 for the same number of models. Seems they've knocked those plastic 8-cavalry sets down to 5 as well."

No idea if this is accurate.

Well, the price for a ten man box set of Empire Infantry doesn't neccessarily mean that the prices of all Infantry Sets are going to go up.

Strange though, I know that Empire has rules for Detachments but we 10-man sets, usually such numbering is kept to more complex elite infantry boxes, not IG with axes...

This is most likely in response to people seeing the sprues for the new empire soldiers of the empire and pistoliers/outriders, which have 10/5 models respectively.  The 10 man empire soldiers sprue has a full command and all options (aside of course from the option to have better looking figures, which is saddly lacking).  The 5 man pistolier/outrider sprue has horses on the sprue, which is a new, and frankly unwelcome departure for GW.  (particularly considering how bad the horses on the sprue are).

Seems as if 10 models should cost half as much as 20, so even if the rumor of a 10 man box was true, it should be cheaper than $22.  Some have speculated that the empire soldiers set would have two ten man sprues, and of course there is the possibility that there is a second 10 man sprue with no command options on it alá Bretonnians.

You seem suprised ed, that GW is raising its prices again....

Ah well, I just gained 3K-4K worth of tau models by trading away older stuff....

Hope more old fools come to their senses and start giving you their money instead of those Union Jack Blood suckers...

Youre stance is well known Jojo, but if what Ed brought us happens to be true, then this is quite ridiculous...and worth ridiculing too.

This makes me glad I dont play WHFB, and the fact that I already have tons of empire stuff.

Hopefully lasgunpacker has the insight to this subject.

I don't really think it's worth ridiculing. It's well known that GW raises its prices regularly.
The vast majority of us here are adults, or are on the way to being adults, and are thus capable of making the decisions on how we spend our money.
If you don't like the company or their policies, just stop buying their product. You can still play the game and be involved in the hobby, just don't buy from GW.
Ridiculing their policy ad nauseum just cheapens the board.

The most effective way to complain about GW prices is through your wallet, not through your keyboard.

The only time there is a viable choice to vote with wallets is when there is an alternative.

Yes, there are alternatives to GW, but a lot of people into warhammer aren't aware of them, and they certainly aren't as widely available (I see Games Workshops everywhere, hardly ever seen places stocking alternative wargame minitures, and certainly not devoted to it). If, say, safeway start boosting their prices, I'll just take my money elsewhere. With GW there isn't the same option, and frankly I think the way they're pushing up prices shows they're perfectly aware of this domination of the market, and are exploiting it.

I often hear people in defense say "They're a company, it's what they do", but there are still such things as standards. If we take this argument that it's natural and acceptable for a company to do whatever it wants, then by that logic GW could start using third world exploited labour, or any other number of nasty, but still technically legal, business practices.

GW games are not life or death purchases. You don't need to buy miniatures.
Thus, there is no reason to have "standards" for their prices. It's up to you, the consumer, to decide that they're too expensive and thus to stop buying them.

You can either put a temporary moratorium on your purchases or you can leave the hobby. Either option denies money to GW and tells them that maybe their prices are too high

Really, are mass poverty and famine going to result from GW raising the cost of their Empire knights?
No.

The simple fact that they don't use third world labour(although the Midlands is close) is one of their saving graces.

Wow. Drama queen.
Youre right Jojo, We're too stupid. We cannot have an opinion regarding the matter without famine brought into the fold.

I agree with the money aspect of your post though. if we dont like it, dont buy it. The problem is that we like it, thats why were sitting here discussing this subject, because we care about the hobby we immerse our selves in (sometimes to an unhealthy extent) and the price we pay to be in it.

Are you intentionally being ironic..?

Ultimately, there's no real reason to complain on dakka. It doesn't go anywhere. The same whiny points have been made countless times before. Why do they need to be dragged out of the gutter just because another easily foreseen price-increase occurred?
