This is easily the nicest dwarf model I've ever seen!  Felix Paniagua's Dwarf heroes are widely considered the coolest dwarf lord models GW's ever produced (at least based on reactions they received here).  Some of you might remember his stuff from Dragon Rune miniatures (some of the first Nelsoneque minis to appear during the rise of the God sculptor).  While I liked those models I really think he's grown leaps and bounds even since we last saw his GW work.  Enough of my miniture sculptor fanboyism :p

Tell me what you think:

And that's why I bought it ten minutes after seeing it

Here's the place I bought it from:

avatars-of-war.com/web2mail/web2mail.php

I informed Felix I'd be making this post so mention Dakka Dakka and how much it rules in your comment spot on the order forum!    Maybe we'll convince Felix to post here!

That is a damn good-looking model. The axes are a little oversized, heroic scale be damned, but it's a nice model.

I'm not a big fan of dwarves, but that model has tons of personality, great detailing, and a heroic but understated pose.

He's aweful full of himself for a goblinslayer.

Sarcasm aside, it's a great mini. Very burly and great detail. Lots of character too.  Is it a GW mini? I'm kinda surprised that they'd be putting out dwarfs this far after the armylist came out, but it definately looks like a Warhammer Slayer.

Awesome! Ah, so he *has* done several GW figs after all (though this isn't one) and holds a day job with Privateer Press! Good for him, those are some excellent figs. I was wondering who did some of the Voystroyans. He is an excellent sculptor. Thanks for the link Drake!

Me want. Me bought. Me soooo horny....

I'm a sick, sick person.

He's got a mind like a steel trap. By which I mean it can only hold one idea at a time;
it latches on to the first idea to come along, good or bad; and it takes strenuous effort with a crowbar to make it let go.

Alright guys- he's sold out already! I hope there are a lot of Dakka references in those order forms! Hopefully he'll be impressed by the Dakka crowd and come post here so we can tell him what heroes we'd like to see next.

Is it a GW mini? I'm kinda surprised that they'd be putting out dwarfs this far after the armylist came out, but it definately looks like a Warhammer Slayer.

Felix sculpted a some of the current dwarves, including at least some of the slayers, and the Fantastic Dwarf Lord leaning on his axe.

This mini is for his own range, 'Avatars of War'... which I believe is a selection of Hero models.

I ordered this one as soon as I heard it had become available. It will definitely be interesting to see what else he comes up with.

Indeed Insanik- the range will consist of heroes from various armies and genres depending on Felix's inspiration. I've contacted him for more info and to encourage him to come contribute to this tread He has the link now so the ball is in his court.

Keep ordering guys and mention Dakka!

Hi! This is Felix,
Sorry for taking a while to post, but I've been bloody busy! (Hope it doesn't change!)
Well, the first batch of 200 dwarves are all finally all packed and shipped.
There are already almost 300 pre-ordered for the next batch of 300. It is just so amazing!

Well, I wanted to say thank you so much to all of you for your comments about my sculpts and as well thank you even more to those of you who have purchased or pre-ordered the dwarf hero.
I am already working on the next hero (while not doing PP sculpts), and I really look forward to finish it!

Thanks!

Felix

I can say that he's hoping to have the figures spaced by around a month, but it all depends on his work schedule. This stuff is a fun side project he's doing for his own pleasure so he'll be doing it only after his comissioned work is finished. As many of you know he's doing a lot of work for Privateer Press, so that stuff fills his regular days.

EDIT:

I just noticed that Felix posted exactly what I just said in a message at the end of the first page.  That'll teach me to read the most recent post first.  :p

Just a quick note to let you know I received today the second batch of castings!
So I am going to process pre-orders during this weekend.

Next hero will be an orc shaman. As I am working on it right now, some feedback would be much appreciated here. Would you prefer savage or non-savage style orc shaman?

Savage please

Oooo...Oooo savage. Arms raised dramatically while bellowing skyward to Gork and Mork...maybe a bit of a senic base with a cowering snotling/squig. W/ lotsa vieny musculature and tooth-piercings. His stance should be somewhat heavy metal-singer...one foot up on a monitor while lunging forward evoking the power of the "metal" gods.

Possibly somekind of Saurus/crockodilian headdress flowing down his back attached by rings to his skin, for protection...something other than a boar please.

And the obligatory gnarled staff with fungus growining out of it, spiders, ribs, femurs and other Savage Ork adornments.

Just some ideas.

Hmmm.... I'd like to see this model come with optional heads and arms that make him either a regular shaman or savage orc shaman. I think this is a great oppertunity to make a wider range of people satisfied since there would be multiple configurations you could assemble him in. What's more, you'd be able to try a few wilder ideas on some of the optional parts. Of course it would cost a little more, but everyone loves having options when putting a model together

I ordered the dwarf in the first batch, and am doing O&G and will most assuredly get the shaman!
