Im looking for info on the Exorcist Space Marines...

Ive googled for information, and used Wikipedia also...

If anyone could point me out to a good amount of information writen about them that would

be great!

Also what chapter Advantages & Drawbacks would be most suited for this chapter?

Wow, I can't imagine Grey Knights standing for that. Creepy.

Yup I checked it out. I seem to think there was a WD issue that covered them some years ago?

Also wasnt there a shoulder pad bitz for these guys? I cant seem to find them on the online stores....

Oh, I forgot about these guys. Would make for great alt Grey Knights if you wanted to go radical, but didn't want daemonhosts.

Guinness: for those who are men of the cloth and football fans, but not necessarily in that order.

You could use the horned head from the Chaos mutation sprue, but file down the horns Hellboy style.

Yeah, I think daemonic shoulderpads on Grey Knights would be awesome.

Frankly, I'm surprised FW didn't go with this chapter rather than the Scorpions (though they are a favorite RT era chapter). There's just too much potential both as corsairs and 'loyalist' marines.

There were 2-3 WD issues that covered this 40k campaign around the Badab War and such.  Some beautiful armies across the board, including John Schaeffer's LatD and somebody's marines with a squad each of Exorcists, Lamenters, Mantis Warriors, etc.  Whoever made the exorcists used the 'librarian' metal pad with a horned skull.  And yeah, I had no luck finding it on either US or UK online stores, but I definately remember seeing it in Troll back in the day.

Good luck with the Exorcists, one of my favorite marine chapters for some time now.  I proxied an Exorcist list using the Cursed marines list (I forget which flavor ...) for a while, but then had plans to convert up grey knights when they came out.  Luckily I strayed away from such madness

I dug through most of my old WD's finding more stuff to read about that I forgot about....

Anyways The shoulder pad. I called up GW and talked to a guy there that said they didnt make one. That it probley was a converted using the LATD shoulder pad with green stuff blobs made into horns....I asked him if he was sure and he said he worked in the bitz stock room for 4 years. I also check out the local shop's catalogs, and even "stuff of legends" web site nothing.....

Anyone suggest any Chapter Advantages & Drawbacks would be most suited for this chapter?? Or Im not up to par with the Grey Knights as Ive played Chaos Marines and LOTD armies for years....would they be a good "counts as" army list for the Exorcists?

Thanks for the help!

yeah Exorcists are cool. If I ever started another marine force it'd be Exorcists.

As far as a good stand in list, it depends on which direction you wanted to go and how competitive you wanted to be.

Blood Angels could work pretty well, with the death company being those marines that have issues with their possesion. Black rage fits well and having furious charge would account for their unsurpassed ability to slay the daemonic. Sanguine priest could be modeled as a xenobiologist as mentioned in the armmageddon story. IIRC BA can ally with grey knights and inquisitors so adding either would enhance the flavor of the list. Probably the best overall choice IMHO.

Codex marines could work too, just take traits that seem to fit. I do think you lose some of the flavor going this route.

Chaos could work as long as you didn't use daemons but it's a bit of a stretch IMHO.

Black Templars with their vows could work and they can still ally with Grey Knights.

The new Dark Angels may have rules that fit better but that's a ways off.

Straight Grey Knights could work but IMHO their unique weapons doesn't fit a chapter this suppose to use standard codex weapons and tactics.

Iorek: "Snoogums, you're right. Your arguments are irrelevant, and they sure as heck aren't going away."
