Assuming you were playing a shooty list and using las/plas Tac squads would you rather go with

6 man squad plus HB Razorback

or

10 man squad?

I know the best option out there is to just go with the 6 man squad by itself, but I was thinking about where I have to play...For full comp points, you have to go with either one of the two options.

I would go with something else entirely.

razorbacks suck. 10 man squads suck.

If that's your comp environment, go for something different, like 10 man drop pod squads ala PapaNurgle.

Man, that's tough; I've used both, and both have their ups and downs.

6-man w/ RB: two units to shoot with, higher mobility, almost as many (but stronger and longer-ranged) anti-personnel shots; RB is fragile and more expensive, have to start off-table in Escalation.

10-man: durable, versatile, useful in assault (if it comes to that); waste of points when targeting armor, sometimes hard to use cover.

That's my take, anyway.

As a rule of thumb, the designers do not hide "easter eggs" in the rules. If clever reading is required to unlock some sort of hidden option, then it is most likely the result of wishful thinking.

But there's no sense crying over every mistake;
You just keep on trying till you run out of cake.

Also a note-Usually we play the old tourney missions, so don't have to worry about Escalation.

And drop pods aren't an option for me currently.

No offense but...

I hate this new direction that places seem to be going...making you play 40K etc the way THEY think you should play. I've seen a couple of tournaments where you were restricted as to what units you could take....why not just make up the army lists and mail them out to registrants, since all choice seems to be taken away.

They should just outright ban some armies if they want to eliminate cheese etc. <shrugs> Alot of people blame GW for the decline of the hobby...maybe people should also point the fingers elsewhere.

You're preaching to the choir...I hate soft scores...They're just an excuse to can the guy who beat you (Usually me...).

This isn't a 'requirment' per se...But you get penalized by the comp matrix they use if you don't take one of the choices.

Is what's required for perferfect comp scores. It really screws anything that isn't loyalist Space Marines.
