Ok, here's a news post from the Dark Age forums-  Note that I've copied and pasted it so everything in italics is from the original post (www.dark-age.com/forum/viewtopic.php).

Okay ladies & gentlemen. And anybody else that may be interested. I know some of you will be attending SoCal and are chomping at the bit as to what will be available. Here's a bit of a preview of what to expect:

These will be available at SoCal:

DAG0003 Evolution

DAG1118 Forsaken Bane #2 Warband Boxset (6)

The Dragyri will have at least two new products;

DAG2005 Soul Warden #1 (resculpted in resin) (1)

and...
...the long-awaited Dragyri Slave Taskmaster!

For the Brood;

DAG4013 Brood Hound (2)

For the Skarrd; the Special Edition Father Curwen that will be available as part of the Toxic Cult Warband.

SE Father Curwen

Sorry, I don't have a group shot for the Charity's Zeal Warpack, but here are their individual pictures. First is the Special Edition Sister of Charity.

Special Edition Sister of Charity

And here is the Special Edition Zeal which will also be part of the Charity's Zeal Warpack.

SE Zeal

To accompany the LE Sister and Zeal, we have two "standard" Zeal. Note that there will be two each of these in the Charity's Zeal Warpack. With sufficient appendages to make many variations.

The following products will also be available, but I don't have pictures to share with you yet. Keep checking this thread for updates.

DAG2027 Limited Edition Blue Resin Ice Elemental (1)

DAG3106 Skarrd Toxic Cult Warband (7)
(1 SE Father Curwen, 1 Bone Doc #2, 1 Hoodoo, 1 Chitin, 1 Kaustic, 2 Toxic Mistress)
DAG3107 Skarrd Charity's Zeal Boxset with SE Sister Charity (6 miniatures)

DAG4012 Brood Broodlings (2)

Are you excited yet? You should be!! A lot of work has gone into getting product ready in time for SoCal. And yet, no rest in sight because there is still so much more coming down the pipe.

If anyone here is going to Gencon SoCal I'd like to get ahold of a couple of those minis- especially the limited edition resin blue elemental... so if you could PM me and we could set something up I'd be very happy

I dug up another pic of the Brood Hounds while crusing the Dark Age forums:

yep, very unique style of play and plays very quickly.  Things die fast if you're not careful.  The actual innovators of the rounded edge base that Warmachine uses.

I was hooked on the game as soon as I played it a couple times and most of our group here is as well.  Its been around for a long time, but went through some scuffles trying to streamline the rules and now is making a huge comeback.

Yair: Was kind of hoping for an evaluation from a user

All games rules are abstract to me until someone who's played either runs me
through a demo or gives me something to compare it to.

since i know you like Warmachine Malfred, I'll give a quick synopsis on it for everyone in comparison to that game.

It uses a D20 for all resolutions. At first I questioned, then realized how much varying degree it gives. Knock Prone for instance. In Warmachine, you get knockdowns often and they're pretty much automatic. In DA, you can have varying degrees depending on the weapon. It'll have a KP or Knock Prone number that you roll equal to or under to see if you can knock them prone. A double handed mace, may have a lower chance to knock you prone than say, a whip so they will have different target numbers as their effect. Thats just an example on how the D20 is used well for contrast between weapons/items.

It's an alternate activation game. So you move one unit and perform with one squad/individual and then I do. It has a great AP system. Each model has a action points usually from 2-4. It can move, shoot, combat, etc per action point and theres no strict- I move, now I fire, now I cast spells. You use the AP in whatever order you wish. so you could fight a close combat, kill your opponent, then charge another close by combatant and do it again.

Other than that, it's similar to most skirmish games. The fluff is great, the models are superb and easily one of the least expensive per model (the St. Mark box is 500 points of models and runs $32), but you pay for your mistakes in the game as the saves can be tough to make in the game. It's the only skirmish game I'm playing anymore and I am very much looking forward to the future of the game.

Hope that helped and wasn't too long

Interesting.

Good luck getting people I know to play, though!

How long has it been out?

Maybe when it's through it's 4th year I'll be able to game it
(much like I was finally able to find and play Warmachine games
after its third year).

The current ruleset I believe has been out since about '04. And my gaming group is usually like yours, but they jumped on board on this one somehow

I have playtested the Dark Age rulesets for almost 3 years now.. the current product available now is refined from what we started with then.

check out the Dark Age website and see if there are any demo teams in your area, if you don't get hooked after one game, then I will eat my hat.

for me the alternate activation is the key point and the action points a clear second. no longer does you whole army move and then mine.. this way, you can almost control what happens and when. of course remember one thing.. no one likes a coward and if your models/units break, even friendly models get to bring the beat down upon the head of the coward.. I love that part..

You're not the only one.  Depending on their size, they might even make good fodder for squig riders.
