GW's website now has NO purpose. If you want to see new releases, check warseer a month early. If you want to buy products, contact the warstore for a discount. But hey, the closing of their forums saves me a good 30-45 mins a day that I normally wasted. I'm happy!

Uhh... what the hell are you talking about? The post was started by a Dakka regular and all of the following posters are regulars themselves and/or have been around for months (if not years) before the EOT imploded upon itself. Or is it that there are no GW-moderated forums, you are taking up the mantle as GW sock-puppet fluffer and deciding what is worthy or not?

Well this calls for a celebration!  Our 14th White Crusade is victorious!

Brothers, the Macho Man is glad to see the horror of the Eye of Terror has finally closed. Never could stand the layout of the place there. Hurt like a piledriver to the brain, it did!

And the Macho Man gets the feeling that some of you folks don't much like his unique and Macho style of posting! Macho Man has done nothing to you! I may have beaten your daddy in the ring, but that's all bodies under the ropes now.

Macho Man wonders how this may affect the next worldwide campaign. Will enough gamers be checking the GW sites without their own message boards? Macho Man indeed wonders!

The GW site has a page for each army in case you have no clue what you need to buy. Probably
not such a big deal for old schoolers, but for newcomers to the hobby it's at least a visual start.

Maybe GW can use the old forum servers/bandwidth for the Forge world site. With all the traffic the endless stream of awesome FW kits creates, it sure would come in handy.

Actually I don't think this will impact the worldwide campaigns. Those typically have been run on separate sites haven't they? I'm assuming there will be worldwide campaigns in the future.

The lack of an official explanation just demonstrates their "couldn;t give a flying f..." attitude to customers.  Well guys, I guess the feeling's mutual!

I'm thinking it was actually closed for the reasons we already suspect: GW was tired of hearing complaints on their own forum, so they closed it to give them a plausible denial of the crap situation they are in (and continuing to head in) with their customers. To blame the closure on the mass of volunteers that attempted to bring some semblance of order to that place is yet another slap in the face to them and to their customers.

Not that GW cares.

y'know what would be hysterical, if say, Privateer Press opened some GW forums for the exiles.

The moderators were very good on the EoT. If they are being officially blamed (which I doubt) it is a grotesque insult to them.
