Thanks for the comment, physcosamatic! I think the Inquisition allows you to explore some of the more evocative aspects of the 40k universe.

At the moment, the Arco-Flagellant concepts are on the backbench and other concepts and ideas have shifted to the foreground.

Yesterday, inspired by Kaled's female tech-priest, I began converting the Sister from the Witch-hunters retinue box into a member of the Machine cult. It's WIP at the moment (the most obvious part missing is the hood) but I hope you can see where I'm heading. At the moment I'm trying to give her robes somewhat like the Imperial Guard Enginseers.

Then, he drank the blood of the fallen orange men because he fed them a constant supply of sugary chocolate so they all became diabetic and had creamy, sweet-tasting blood that willy could put into each and every Wonka bar. That is the REAL story behind willy wonka's Slaughter House!

Hey guys, thanks for the comments (I really appreciate them.) Totenkopf - I'm not sure what you mean...?

Here's the latest on my female Tech-Priest; I had a bit of trouble with the hood but this version isn't looking too bad:

I've also been studying the Enginseers for more design cues - I think I'm going to have to rework her shoulders a little bit:

I've also ordered a bunch of stuff from Forgeworld that should feature soon - the Elysian Tauros Venator, the Cadian Squad with Respirators (the heads are spare!) and the Titan Tech-Priest. Expect to see them once FW delivers!

For Inquisitor, the GM sets limits on points and equipment etc. I was wondering how big and funky this team was going to be

The only points system in Inquisitor is the ready reckoner at the back of the rulebook, which is useless. It's only a guide, and in Inquisitor there's really nothing to stob a hive juve with a revolver going up against a Space Marine Terminator. (After all, sometimes the best stories aren't fair!)

The only thing that comes into play is common sense, which isn't always that common! Luckily, I'm fortunate to have a sensible group of players that help me out.

The groups I've tentatively worked up at the moment are:

Inquisitor Hoth w/Saul Baltasar, Titus Dio + Cyber-Mastiff, Sylus Tem, Hurk

Inquisitor Adorno w/Daemonhost, Mourn, Interrogator Seraphine, possibly Beastman

Inquisitor Balthier w/Salem Rios, Ishmael Castor and Dariel Rourke

Inquisitor Ferox w/Interrogator Venris, Magos Parragus and "The Surgeon"

The thing is that I won't always be taking all of those characters in one scenario, it really depends on the circumstances of the battle and any injuries/deaths that take place during the campaign.

Then I've got various antagonist and NPC characters/factions that'll be taking part in the battles for Nova Castille. I'm always fiddling with different concepts and characters that may or may not be seen through to completion!

That hood's looking great, Mol. I can't wait to see her finished. I think it'll look a lot better once you get the shoulders worked out.

I've been poring through websites looking for good stuff for arco-flagellants, but nothing has really struck me so far. Maybe improving the existing sculpts is the best thing for now, huh?

Also, what did you mean by, "the heads are spare?"

Thanks for the comments, guys. Shane, I'm in the midst of reworking the shoulders. The left side of this picture is done (the right side was a little too fiddly and difficult for me at the moment) but hopefully it should give you an idea of where I'm going. If need be, I'll wait til it dries and then reshape it slightly with a knife.

As I'm stuck on the Arco-Flagellant front, I've gone for the next best thing: A Chrono-Gladiator. I've made the model, and envision it taking a place in Inquisitor Adorno's retinue.

I'd actually quite like to have a padlock at the back of the iron mask, but I'm not quite sure how to pull that off as yet...

As for the "heads are spare" comment, it's not really that important now. El_Diablo's already laid claim to the heads in the upgrade pack for a forthcoming project of his!

Hey guys, I've not been around for a little bit so I've got some stuff to share:

Today, my FW order came and I've begun to sort it out. The Cadian upgrade kit is brilliant. The Titan Tech-Priest was another matter:

There was actually a huge chunk of the base missing; not particularly pleased, but I removed it from the resin base and attached the model to a normal base:

Here you can see him along with another member of the Mechanicus:

My Tauros Venator progresses:

I've also used a torso from the Cadian upgrade kit to create an Imperial Guard Veteran who'll probably be taking a place in Inquisitor Balthier's retinue:

El Diablo sent me the high-res pictures of Inquisitor Adorno, my Xanthite:

Popular as ever, then...

Anyway, today my friend Nick came round, so we've made some progress with various different projects.

For a start, here's the Venator, pretty much finished (in that I've used all the Forgeworld components I'm going to use aside from the rollcage - I just need to alter the model a bit):

Nick also brought round his PIP Warrior-Priest, Ishmael Castor. Those of you who've followed the log will possibly know the twisted history of Castor - we lost the first version of this model, so we've had to recreate him. This time around we've attached a backpack from a missionary-priest to the model. I think it makes him look more 40k, and gives him the look of a pilgrim traveller with all his wordly possessions strapped to his back.

Lastly, we've converted up the models for the Enforcer patrol that'll be taking to the streets of Nova Castille. More pictures of these guys will eventually be forthcoming:

How is the casting of your Venator chassis? The piece that would go under the turret plate has holes in mine. Annoying given that it was delivered on release day, so the mold hasn't had time to degrade; but fixable.

What are you planning on doing with the Venator if you're not using the turret?

Awesome work on the new additions. I always liked that warrior priest in particular, and you have converted him well. Was that backpack one piece or did you put it together? also, where did you get it?

OKay, so here's a slight update after I got a big GW order through:

This is the WIP of Inquisitor Theseus, ardent puritan of the "burn-them-all" school of thought.

You should probably be able to place most of the pieces for this model. He's semi-blu-tacked at the moment, but with a bit of green-stuffing he should hopefully come together a bit more.

This is Pyremaster Korbin, one of his followers:

(Obviously an unconverted 40k miniature, but I've always really liked it and wanted to include him.)

This shot shows the Inquisitor and his chum together!

I've also managed to acquire this model:

I'm a big fan of it, but at the moment I'm unsure what I'm going to be doing with it.

Lastly, I've begun to do some work on a warband of Nurgle-worshipping Tech-Priests. Here's the first models as they stand:

This is a tech-priest, and I really like how he seems to be contemplating the head he's just removed. I'm not sure what to put in his other hand; possibly a plague knife like the Death Guard have?

This model should end up being a skitarii of some kind. He'll be very different, mostly due to the judicious use of green-stuff. For example, I'm dead-set on the model having a hood, so in the end you probably won't even recognise it as a Catachan one!

Based on what I saw in your little signature-box-thingy, you've been on Bolter and Chainsword. Go to the modeling section of the Librarium, there is a very good article on true-scaling marines. I play 40k currently, but I'm thinking about starting to play Inq28, partly as a reason to slap together some Dark Angels and Blood Angels. I was thinking about starting with an Inquisitor and his retinue fighting a group of cultists who have been corrupted to the greater good. Do you have any advice for getting started?

By the way, if you're looking for a good fanzine about Inquisitor, go to www.darkmagenta.co.uk. It is a good website with lots of sick stuff.

Wow, this may actually be the most comments I've ever received to a post in this thread! Has my plog finally reached critical mass?

Frodo: Thanks for the comment. I'm still growing to like Theseus; although I had the plan to use that particular body, I wasn't sure what arms or head he'd have, so I'm still not sure quite how much I like him (comments from you guys are certainly helping my opinion to form!) The Nurgle Mechanicus group will be a slow project because they won't be appearing in our campaign for quite a while, but I like to have lots of projects on the go at once.

Young_Logan: Thanks for the comment. I tend to consider myself a bit of a "cut-and-paste" modeller, though I have an eye for seeing which bits can go together well!

Illumini: Thanks for the comment - see below where all shall be revealed!

CMDante: Thanks mate. The body is from the Necromunda Redeemer; the head and sword are indeed from the Mordheim Ulli and Marquand (the big hammer guy will be seeing duty in Inquisitor Balthier's retinue) and the handflamer is from an OOP Necromunda Scummer with Hand Flamer.

I'm still keen for you to do some sculpting for me, btw!

Tacobolter MK lll: Thanks for the comment (and what an awesomely weird username!) I don't post as much on the B+C as I used to; Still, I used a combination of techniques when I made my true-scaled Deathwatch Marine. I'm not really sure as to whether I'm really going to be making any more - Inquisitor isn't really designed for Space Marines regularly running around. The game is for those rare individuals fighting in the shades of grey. The best quote on the game I ever read was by Dan Abnett:

'This wasn't about the battlefield, the front-line of mud and gas and behemoth engines. This was a glimpse behind the lines at the internal complexity of the Imperium. It offered a chance to explore what might be called the 'domestic' side of the Warhammer 40,000 universe: the daily, non-military, life - at work, at worship, at rest, at court, at slum-level. A chance to visit worlds that were not levelled by war, and see how the billions of Imperial citizens lived.

And also to find out what evils stalked them, even in the shadows of their own hive cities.'

I like the idea you've got for involving the Tau, though... I think you could have some interesting mileage out of that. What I'd say is to be careful about simply transplanting stock 40k characters over into INQ28, as you can end up with an over-abundance of game-breakingly powerful weapons (or at least game-shortening ones!)

Death Gear: Thanks for the comment! Your wishes shall be answered!

Physcosamatic: Thanks for the comment (and the love?) Theseus is as I described to Dante. Rios is the Kal Jericho figure, whilst Mourn is an OOP Necromunda Bounty Hunter with a hand from a Goliath Ganger and the shotgun from the Forgeworld Cadian Hardened Veterans with Shotguns Upgrade Pack.

Hope that helps.

Here's the latest updates on Saul Baltasar, the Rogue. You might remember him looking like this:

Now he looks like this:

Thanks, I like Tacos, and I like Boltguns. put the to together and you get a tacobolter(salsa not included ).

I am aware of how powerful pulse carbines and rail guns are in a game like inquisitor, so I was intending for the idea to be a group of black ops tau accompanying an ethereal as he attempted to convert the planet's population to the greater good. And most of the grunts my Inquisitor would be fighting would be human cultists, the Fire Warriors would be the Ethereal's personal guard.

On the subject of marines, I was thinking that I would have 3 or 4 deathwatch would be in for the big missions. The mandatory three would be a Dark Angel, who would have a rivalry with a Space Wolf, and a Blood Angel. The fourth would be a Black Dragon.

As a weapon idea, the stalker pattern bolter(tutorial on B&C) would be interesting, due to the fact that It's design seems to make it interchangeable in role as a sniper and as an assault rifle.

My Inquisitor's personal warband would include two Stormtroopers(Me and my friends are all going to have powerful Inquisitors), and a techpriest, who happens to be Damien's(Damien is my Inquisitor) best friend. The tech priest would eventually get his own warband after alot of character progression.
Srry if all this might be considered thread jacking, I just wanted to get my ideas into the wild.

Well, pulse carbines don't have any stats in Inquisitor (that I know of); the only Tau-esque weapon to have stats in the rulebook is the Kroot Rifle, and I've never seen any other (even unofficial) stuff for the Tau aside from the Water Caste Diplomat (who probably would be one of the key figures in any attempt to infiltrate a Human world - not an Ethereal!)

I would probably consider the "Tau" side to be Humans and a Water Caste. Try considering your setting and which forces are really going to be involved. And resist your urges to have a Deathwatch Team (especially multiple Marines!)

Still, set up your own thread and I'll gladly contribute ideas!

Thanks for the comment, Ghosty. I've certainly been creating a lot of models, but it still pales into insignificance beside the number of figures you'd need for the average 2000 point 40k army!

The main forces we have on Nova Castille in our campaign are:

(Keep in mind that many of these are WIPs, but they should all be the most recent shots)

Inquisitor Hoth with his retinue:
Titus Dio, Arbitrator and his Cyber-Mastiff (and the two together.)
Sylus Tem, Sage
Saul Baltasar, Rogue
Hurk, Scythian
(Some other characters yet to be made)

Inquisitor Balthier with his retinue:
"Slim" Rios, Gunfighter
Ishmael Castor, Warrior-Priest
(With another possible two characters to be added)

Inquisitor Adorno with his retinue:
Ophelia Dannica, Former Sororitas
Seraphael, the Whisperprince
'Mourn', Mercenary

Inquisitor Ferox and his retinue:
Interrogator Ra'ef Venris
(and approximately three other characters)

That should get you going for the time being!
